The Dresden Files (2007)
What a fabulous and fun show this is. I truly had a great time watching it. The Dresden Files brings back the supernatural mystery and fun that shows like ANGEL and MILLENNIUM had done so masterfully. If you haven't seen this show yet, think a mix between the X-Files and Buffy the Vampire slayer. It has dark twists, a fascinating lead character, and many colorful side characters to keep it going for a long while.
I have to admit, I do not watch many TV shows, but for some reason The Dresden Files has kept me hooked. I also want to make a special comment on the 'Bob' character. I just love him! What a fascinating story he is and I hope the writers of the series will include him further in upcoming episodes.
The characters can only get more interesting as this fun show continues on. Well done guys! Great stuff!
The Iron Giant (1999)
Brad Bird at his best!
I, unfortunately, didn't get to see this movie until six years after it's release. What a misfortune indeed! This film truly is a masterwork of art, direction, script, and artistic vision. The voice acting is top notch here, Aniston and Harry Connick Jr provide a fabulous and perfectly toned performance. Vin Diesel, even though not saying much, delivers the voice of the Giant with heart, passion and conviction.
And I have not yet touched on the humor! There were many parts during this film that had me laughing in hysterics! Bird truly has a knack for making us laugh.
Lastly, this movie truly has a message to it that I firmly believe in. Passive to some, obvious to others, the message of The Iron Giant rings true to us all as The Giant gently says "I am not a gun".
A true tear-jerker in the best way, The Iron Giant is a film of greatness that all should experience and enjoy.
Casino Royale (2006)
Craig IS Bond. A Legend in the Making.
This man was born to play the role of the British super-spy. Now let me preface this with the point that I loved Brosnan. But what can I say? Craig is so darn good that you forget any problems you might have had to begin with. Mr. Craig exudes confidence and had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I'm still pinching myself to make sure what I just saw was real. Was it? Could it be THAT good? Yes.
Casino Royale is far grittier and darker than previous Bond films, as it should be. This is Bond's first real assignment as a double-O agent, and he gets down and dirty. Make no mistake about it, people. Film-making in general doesn't get much better than this. Action, drama, intrigue, humour, this has it all! Daniel Craig deserves praise for the amount of work and effort he put forth in this movie. There simply is no doubt anymore; Craig. Is. Bond. And I couldn't possibly be happier about it.
I am completely speechless after watching this film. What Joss Whedon has created here is a work of pure genius. The characters are incredibly well developed, the action is non-stop, and the dialogue is fantastic. And I haven't even touched on the fabulous "villain" in the Operative; some amazing depth there as well.
This movie gets it right on every level. It has humor, laughs, and even some intense and creepy scenes involving the cannibalistic reavers. If you haven't seen this movie, SEE IT! And if you've already seen it well see it again! Do anything you can to support this movie, because we can only hope and pray that this is not the last venture into films for Mr. Whedon, or Serenity for that matter.
The perfect movie.
