The decline of this show is sad
14 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
What the heck happened to this once great show?? It's beyond absurd. The writing and pacing is horrendous. Are these the same writers for the first 3-4 seasons?? Lagertha is reduced to babysitting and fending off random bandits. I sure miss Ragnar seasons. Any battle seasons are now quick with no more attention to plotting and mapping out details and strategies. New characters are given no investing details whatsoever. Ivar is aggravating and ridiculous. At least he's not screaming all his dialog in this season so far *rolling eyes* He crawls, then he walks, then he crawls again. Why wasn't he given leg braces 2 or 3 seasons ago? Where the hell is Floki?? The whole journey he went on could have been so much more. And the whole story with Hvitserk, please, just stop! Might as well just kill him off at this point. The drugs and hallucinations is getting old. Too much time wasted on that stort. Ubbe barely has a role anymore either. And Bjorn's storyline is BORING! At least King Harold was rescued. Love the actor but even he has no interesting storyline now. I will finish out this final 6th season to see it through, however my expectations are very low. Miss the exceptional writing of the first 4 seasons.

The Winchesters: Teach Your Children Well (2022)
Season 1, Episode 2

Really really trying ... not there yet either
26 October 2022
I agree with another reviewer here for episode 2. I'm not there yet, or this show just isn't "there" yet for me. Same as I mentioned in my review for the pilot episode. I LOVED SPN and I really really wanted to love this prequel too. SPN seemed effortless in being engaging and hooking fans from the get go. This show has a ways to go.

Again with the yellow-ish lighting in some scenes. Why? At times it seems this show is trying too hard.

It's not horrible, but it has to get better than what has aired so far to warrant all the 10's on here.

Come on, you can't just automatically give each episode a 10 for nostalgia sake!

The character I'm having the hardest time connecting to here is Mary. She's so bossy and demanding and to be honest it's annoying. We're supposed to care about and emotionally connect with these characters, not be annoyed. Carlos and Latika need more depth. Don't just make them comedic relief.

I was hoping that Ada was a relative of Missouri Mosley, that would've been cool. So far all John is doing is carrying out orders that Mary barks out.

Depth and emotional connections are needed. These young unknown actors also need to not try so hard. And please stop with the forced yellow lighting and poor haircut and clothing styles that simply do not look correct for 1972.

A 6 for me, and that's being generous, this show is far from a 10. Just being honest. I'm not going to dish out a 10 for each episode just because I loved SPN. I'll watch a few more episodes, but so far no hook for me.

The Winchesters: Pilot (2022)

So yellow .... Needs work
13 October 2022
A veteran Supernatural fan here and my honest review of the pilot episode. And while I didn't hate it, I feel the first episode was not as engaging as the pilot episode of SPN.

1st - why is the lighting so yellow-ish looking?

2nd - If we're going for a 1972 feel/setting, than why oh why do Mary & John not look like they're in 1972? Mary's hair is straight flat ironed like mid to late 2010's fashion. Neither John or Mary are wearing 70's fashion clothes either. (Which they did in the SPN flashbacks that established canon) Also, why does John not have a military style haircut since he had just served??

3rd - It feels like the plot is moving through all the major plot beats without the emotional connective tissue that makes you invest in the characters.

4th - As nice as it was to hear certain references from SPN, John literally says "saving people, hunting things" after only just finding out about hunting at the beginning of the episode. He hasn't even really saved anyone yet, or really hunted.

The elephant in the room here is, how exactly is this show going to explain established canon that John didn't know about hunting or the supernatural until AFTER Mary's death on SPN?

Again, didn't hate it, the training wheels are still on. If it wants to improve the training wheels need to come off.

Don't even bother!!! Even if you enjoy crossword puzzles, this show does not scratch that itch. Yawn. No excitement either.

Very UNentertaining. Other game shows are much more engaging than this. I turned this game show on because it's on before America Says, (which my family enjoys) but I couldn't believe how dull it was. Couldn't wait for the half hour to be up. The $100,000 Pyramid, Family Feud, Master Minds, 25 Words or Less, Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, Catch 21 and Price is Right are definitely better.

Sorry to the host, Leah, but a game show host you're not. Two thumbs down in my opinion.

Good movie / Overrated though
24 August 2022
While a decent good movie with SOME great action, I feel that (1st) there wasn't a need for a sequel to the original, and (2nd) waaaay overrated. This movie was not a 10. I guess I'm in the minority or something because even not being a huge TC fan, it was just a good movie, not great though. Even boring in some parts. Can't believe all the 10's. Solid 7 for me.

Thoroughly enjoyable!

So much more than just food! Genuinely enjoying every episode. Misha Collins has the best personality, and is the perfect host for this show. Not only discovering local foods, but learning about the locals and their culture and history. If you enjoy PBS documentaries and enjoy learning about small town eateries and their history with a charming host, give this a shot! Keep up the great work Misha!
