A total disgrace.
There is absolutely no reason why this movie should have even been made.
The original "Day The Earth Stood Still" stands as one of the greatest science-fiction films ever made, and this thing is taking the legacy created by that cinematic masterpiece and smashing it into the ground.
Casting the human-shaped plank of wood named Keanu is just adding insult to injury; the man has absolutely no talents and shouldn't be allowed to PRINT scripts, let alone read them.
This movie is just the latest in a long series of proof that Hollywood is creatively & morally bankrupt.
I encourage you- do not see or support this film in any way.
Grand Theft Auto IV (2008)
This is by no means a "masterpiece"
Grand Theft Auto IV is many things- open world (or "Sandbox"), violent, strategic and expensive.
However, it lacks something else entirely: GTA IV IS NOT FUN.
The gameplay is difficult, the load times are frustratingly awful and there's just a few elements in the overall procedure that serve as an absolute deterrent.
For example, at almost any time during a firefight you'll probably get a phone call- forcing you to stand up and immediately expose yourself to incoming bullets.
Second, the social networking system between characters is AWFUL. I didn't think anything could be worse than the "Stat-building" from San Andreas but I was very wrong. Forcing your in-game avatar to make nice with other non-playables isn't just uninteresting, its mind-numbing.
My advice is to ignore this game and pick up something that DOESN'T require you to do chores in order to unlock the fun. Saints Row & Mercenaries both come to mind...
And anyone who disagrees & still hails this piece of junk as "Perfect" can kiss my @$$.
2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
Over-hyped and BORING.
I will never get back the three hours of life this film has stolen from me.
The film is basically a psychedelic drug trip disguised as an important creative process. I'd love to know what they were on when this film was being made.
Its also the most historically-inaccurate film in existence; 2001 has come and gone without any of the events or predictions taking place.
Characters are unlikeable, design is simplistic and everything just rambles on without any sense or logic to it.
And the ending is probably the worst of it: its supposed to be thought-provoking but the only thought that entered my mind is "What the F$*K is going on?!"
I'd say for anyone looking for serious entertainment purposes, AVOID this film at all cost and choose a sci-fi movie that ISN'T stuck up its own @$$.
My childhood brought to life!
To be fair, "Transformers" is not a masterpiece. It will probably never be classified as "culturally significant" or win awards for anything other than visuals.
And, at its heart, it is not much more than a 2 1/2 hour toy commercial.
But here's the thing- It's not really trying to be anything else. Michael Bay, rather than try to deny the cheesy and somewhat ridiculous background of this project has chosen to fully embrace Transformers at the core and the results, believe it or not, are DAMN. GOOD.
Breakthrough special effects are combined with Bay's trademark action sequences to bring the most beloved elements of our favorite toys to life at long last. Top it all off with Peter Cullen and you have a guaranteed blockbuster on your hands!!!!!
