a list of 8 titles
The films in the ALIEN franchise, from best to worst.

The ALIEN franchise is pretty straightforward, as far as fan approval goes. The first two films are considered classics and loved by all. The third and fourth films are the pure definition of "love it or hate it". The next two crossover films with the PREDATOR franchise are pretty much hated overall. The seventh film, PROMETHEUS, however is quite divided; some fans want to hate it but are fascinated by it all the same, while other fans want to love it but cannot forgive it of its flaws.

Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight" and "Batman Begins" are the highest regarded live action adaptations of the character. Tim Burton's two films are also generally liked, despite drastic deviations from the source material, and the campiness of the 1966 film has made it an enjoyable time capsule for the character. Both Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises" and Joel Schumacher's "Batman Forever" are big in the "love it or hate it debate", while "Suicide Squad" and "Batman v Superman" are generally disliked. "Catwoman" and "Batman & Robin" are considered two of the worst movies ever made.

The original movie is an American classic. The sequels, remakes, and reboots are all pretty polarizing. Most fans tend to enjoy the wackiness of the first sequel, while the remake and its prequel generally get the most "love it or hate it" debate. The third and seventh movies have a small outcry from the majority's dislike, while the fourth film is universally regarded as terrible.

An interesting franchise, as unlike most none of the films are really considered classics, though entries from the first eight films generally are the most celebrated. Those films that receive the highest praise are the second, third, fourth and the sixth films. The original is well liked but rarely loved like its immediate sequels. The fifth, seventh, eleventh, and twelfth films receive the most "love it or hate it" debate, while the eighth, ninth, and tenth are usually considered the worst.

The first film is considered a horror classic, and the third and seventh films are highly regarded in their own rights. The fourth film and eighth films are liked but not overly loved, while the second film gets the most "love it or hate it" debate. The fifth and sixth entries are generally disliked overall, while the ninth film is loathed by fans.

HALLOWEEN and A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET get a lot of credit for being classics, and they are also book-ends for the "Golden Age" of slasher films; HALLOWEEN kickstarted the slasher craze in 1978 and A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET ended it in 1984, ushering in bigger budgeted and more special-effects-laden horror.

In your opinion, what is the most underrated slasher film from the "Golden Age?"

**Note: Sequels such as those in the HALLOWEEN and FRIDAY THE 13TH franchises do not count here.**
