Not funny, Not romantic, a whole lot of blah blah
When seeing the previews, I was excited to see this movie when it came out. It failed on several levels and the first one is Steve Carrell.
I am afraid Mr. Carrell can only play 2 types of characters. Either the dumb idiot guy, or the withdrawn, melancholy boring guy. I mean name a movie where he doesn't play one of these roles. In this movie he played the boring melancholy guy and I will tell you what, brought down the entire movie. If this was supposed to be a love story, it was terrible. If it was supposed to be a story about what people would do with impending doom, it was terrible. It wasn't funny or original. I think Carrell brought this movie down.
I would have spent more time on what people do in the face of doom and make the two characters come together through a series of funny moments dodging idiots and thrill seekers as the asteroid approaches. Instead we get a depressed Carrell the entire move and the fact she falls for him(predictable) is about as fake as the entire movie. And the end was very predictable.
Do not waste your money on this movie. And to Steve Carrell, can you play a role that isn't a complete idiot or a depressed withdrawn human being. The closest you did was Evan Almighty
Rock of Ages (2012)
Cruise shows his acting depth, great 80's music throughout
I knew going in that there would be some great 80's music. And there was. The soundtrack to this movie if it has the originals, would be the best 80's greatest hits album ever for rock. The songs were great and they did some mash ups as well which worked. But the star of the movie is Tom Cruise. I knew he was a great actor, but he never has played a role like this(some would say his true personality is that of stacy jaxxx). Cruise shined here and although he may never receive an Oscar during a year in which he makes a film, he will no doubt get a lifetime achievement award. So if you like great music, and want to see a great acting job by Tom Cruise, by all means see this movie. The story was predictable as well as the outcome, but who cares. Go enjoy yourself. I know you will!!
Loved the first Ghost Rider, this one was TERRIBLE
I was real excited about a sequel to Ghost Rider. I liked the first one. I was very disappointed. Everything is horrible about this movie. The plot, the writing, the acting, and especially the special effects. In the first move, the flaming skull was sharp, the bike was great, the riders expressions were great. In this movie, the flaming bike looked broken down, the skull wasn't sharp, and the jacket charred. The chain never lit up on fire either. And the penance stare was different. He didn't say look into my eyes or anything. Not to mention again that the writing and the plot were garbage. Don't waste your money on this one. 3d can't help this stink pot. Wait for cable.
Miracle at St. Anna (2008)
Don't read the reviews, be your own judge
I almost didn't go to see this movie based on all of the negative reviews of this film. I am glad I went with my instinct and saw the movie. I thought the movie was very good. Yes it took a while to get to the point and to figure out what the miracle is, but eventually you do. Besides, this is more of a war movie than anything and I thought it was very good. Go see it for yourself. I do not like the reviewers who read the reviews, then post just to post. Go see the movie. This is just filler because I need ten lines. Great movie Go see it. For a part of the movie i was trying to figure out the point of the movie but I realized it was a war movie. You find out why he killed the guy at the post office as well.
