Friday the 13th (1980)
Excellent. Pure Genius.
This is the first of the 10 movie (as of now) series.
This movie does not have the loony madman Jason Voorhees in it, no. It's his mother.
This movie is probably the best suspense movie of all time. Waiting to find out who the killer is, and when she is revealed, you would probably not suspect it was her. The movie is full of gory deaths, great acting and a great storyline. A woman serial killer? Wow.
The movie is all based on the events of the 1950s (not a true story) when the woman's child, Jason Voorhees, drowned in Crystal Lake. The woman's name is Pamela Voorhees. She goes insane, vowing to kill every counsellor in the Crystal Lake area. However, as I said when the killer is revealed, she is revealed to one character, who then chops her head off after a brutal fight between the two ladies.
This movie is excellent. Not the best in the series, but awesome. This movie involved great acting, and some actors and actresses who would later go onto fame and fortune (such as Kevin Bacon who stars as Jack). The story is excellent, the acting is awesome, the whole idea rules. This movie is also one of THE best mystery and suspense movies of all time.
Often imitated but never equalled, this movie will live on forever as the most shocking film of it's kind.
Easily The Best Friday The 13th Movie
Easily the best in the Friday the 13th series.
The movie starts off with two kids in a boat, having sex. (like in every Friday the 13th ever) The boy in it tells his girlfriend about the legend of Jason Voorhees, and she is worried. However, he isn't bothered by it. They throw an anchor down in Crystal Lake which catches Jason underwater tied up in loads of chains. The anchor is then hit with lightning, bringing Jason back to life. He kills the two teenagers and then the movie really starts.
The next day we see high school grads on a boat on a trip to Manhattan. All of a sudden, the killing start up. Everybody suspects it is Jason, but the trip organiser is not convinced. They round up weapons and try and chase Jason down, but nearly everyone gets killed. Some of the grads and parents manage to get away on a dinghy, but Jason follows them to Manhattan without the people knowing.
They arrive at Manhattan, where Rennie (the main character behind Jason) is kidnapped. The rest of the gang try to find here, but along the way 3 of the gang are killed, along with a police officer. The two survivors (Rennie and Scott) manager to avoid Jason for a while, before finally killing him with a bucket of acid to the face then finally being finished off with thousands of litres of water wiping him, turning Jason back to the deformed child he was.
All in all, this movie rocked. Great deaths, (such as Julius getting his block knocked off by Jason), great story, great acting, and great setting! This movie definitely deserves ten stars.
Jason X (2001)
Ruined The Friday The 13th Series
Am I right in saying this is the worst Friday the 13th ever? This movie ruined the whole name of Jason Voorhees and Friday the 13th.
The acting sucked, the story sucked, I mean, what in the hell is Jason doing in outer space? The comedy sucked horribly, and was not scary whatsoever! Also, the way they killed Jason in the end would have to be the worst Jason ending ever. Getting sent flying to Earth 2? Bleh.
The only remotely good part was where he got transformed into Uber-Jason, and that part wasn't even that good.
Finally, the deaths of the crew: Horrible. When you compare deaths like getting head bashed against a wall with getting your head punched off? No contest.
In all, this movie deserves 2 stars.
