Death of a President (2006)
This movie bored me to distraction. I find most *actual* documentaries to be very interesting and reasonably captivating. This was just dull. I imagine it was intentionally made to appear clinical and inert due to the "explosive" content matter. As a non-American, I guess I missed out on the taboo value, and so all I saw was a flat, unengaging mess. There is a decent story or three buried in it, but we only hear them second-hand.
It's probably clear that I think it was a mistake to do it as a mockumentary. It would have made a better traditional narrative, maybe as a TV miniseries. It might have even been good. The mockumentary schtick needs some spice to work. That's why they're usually *funny*. If you find the very idea of a movie where a real public figure is assassinated to be exceptionally noteworthy, maybe that's spice enough to get through it. For me, it was bland, bland, bland, with a side of reheated leftover commentary.
