Okay I'm a twenty-year-old who absolutely loves film and television. I am currently in my last year at university studying practical filming skills. I also enjoy reading, drawing and watching anime and reading manga.
Okay... I've run out of ideas now, I'm not really sure what to write next?!
Bionicle 3: Web of Shadows (2005)
Unity, Duty and Destiny
Here it is, another fabulous movie of the Bionicle Series. The animation is fantastic, the characters admirable in different ways - a pleasure to watch again and again! The one thing I love about this movie, and all the Bionicle movies, is that they always come out with a cool story line, never repeated with the other movies. It's always original.
I love how it stays true to the books, and how it always stays close to the 'good over evil' back-bone story line. It's great for kids, but I'm a teenager and I love all the Bionicle movies! It's suitable for all ages, so why not just see it - it won't let you down.
Treasure Planet (2002)
Grab your space boards, and fly away with: Treasure Planet!
*THIS MAY CONTAIN SOME SPOILERS*
Amazing! This has to be the best animated film I have ever seen! Based on the beautifully composed classic, Treasure Island, Treasure Planet comes soaring in, as a futuristic version of the tale.
The animation is magnificent, with the 2D and CGI animation techniques cleverly merged to give such a professional and real-to-life finish. The characters are fantastic, and the voice talents bring them to life in every case.
The story is about a fifteen year old boy, Jim Hawins, who has been scared emotionally when he was very young, when his father left. Jim has a stroke of luck and finds a small, golden sphere and unlocks its power. To his amazement, he finds out it is a map to a treasure planet, where the evil pirate, Captin Nathaniel Flint, has stored his bounty. He is immediately whisked off into a wild adventure, meeting John Silver, the friendly galley worker, who he starts to look up too as a substitute father, and many other wacky characters too.
People who say that this film is a disappointment, what on earth is wrong with it? Anyway, I loved it - make your own decision...
I Spy (2002)
Cool But Not Cool
I liked the movie, but I don't think anyone should go out of their way to actually watch this. The characters are pretty cool, and the story flows together well, but the storyline itself is a bit too simple.
Owen Wilson plays Alex, a wanna-be-great spy, but normally ends up totally mucking up the mission, by trying to impress Rachel, another spy. Eddie Murphy plays Kelly, a boxer with a I-don't-care-about-anyone-but-me attitude, but respects Alex's attitude after he gets to know him a little better. Together, of course when they're not arguing, they make a really cool team, and in the end, save the day!
Sharky & George (1990)
Young Kids Special
I was really young when I first watched this, but I can remember it was one of my favourite shows on television at that time. The story lines were easy to understand and very entertaining, and the characters are brilliant. The mysteries were great, I loved sitting there pretending I was there, helping to work out the crime with them!
Sharky and George Mysteries must be one of the best shows for young kids ever. If you haven't seen or heard of it before, well you've really missed something really good. I don't know if you can still watch it, but hopefully the series will be re-run or a new one will return to main stream television.
Scary Movie 3 (2003)
"Cindy, why is the TV leaking?"
I think this movie is okay, not the best I've ever seen, but definitely not the worst. The storyline is a bit confusing; however, because it is absolutely hilarious, it's catchy and easy to watch. When there's a serious bit, something funny always happens - okay you kind of know what's going to happen next, but you'll be surprised at certain parts how the story suddenly twists. For example: The Michael Jackson Part, where he pretends to be the daughter but gets found out and starts a fight, screaming his famous "Oww!". Then he falls out the window, the guy trys to grab him, but ends up pulling off his nose!
I really liked this movie, and if you're not to squeamish, you'll really enjoy it! Get ready to be freaked out by the ultimate weirdness....
My favourite movie EVER!
I absolutely love this film. I happened to come across this, on a rainy day, two years ago-I'm so glad I did! I naturally love dragons, knights and fantasy worlds, and this is the film that involves all the right qualities.
This is a very emotional movie, but a great watch. The sad parts nearly made me cry, and some parts, made me laugh out loud or made me sit at the edge of my sofa!
If you haven't seen this, you really must: you will not regret it, I promise. The plot is simple, but fabulous and the characters are fantastic! I love this film!
Team America: World Police (2004)
Team America is fantastic! At first the strings bothered me a little, but I found them quite amusing after the third time of watching it. The characters a brilliant, and the songs... well, a little weird, but very entertaining. I loved all the scenes, each uniquely funny and all have fabulous jokes and phrases in each one.
If you haven't seen this film, then you must! This is a great film to see any day of the week, at any time. Although you have to be around twelve years old to really understand everything involved, as many events involved, basically wouldn't make any sense to anyone younger.
I love all the characters, but Chris is my favourite above all. You haven't lived properly, until you have seen this! Enjoy!
A Good watch
I thought this film was very good, I don't see why everyone doesn't like it?! The film is based upon the hit book, and that is a brilliant book-a bit dated, but readable. Sean Connery played Allen Quatermain very well, and stuck to the book very closely, so I could picture him doing the things, while I read it. I love how all the characters derive from best-seller books around the Victorian period - that's why the film is set in that era!
All of the characters and the special effects were very well done, in so doing: a great film to watch every so often. I loved how they did Dr. Jeckle turning into Mr. Hyde, it's truly fascinating; and Dorian Grey's picture, fabulous!
If you liked the film, you must read the book, or the other way round. In the book there are a number of other events that took place that didn't appear in the film, trust me, it's a good read.
My favourite character must be Skinner-the invisable man. Tony Curran does him so well, and the the special effects on him, make him seem almost real. A fabulous story, brilliant characters, a wonderful watch!
A Fantastic Film- don't dis it!
I first saw this film, when my brother bought it off a friend, I looked at the front cover and naturally thought it wouldn't be very good and be a bit too young. I was totally wrong! I watched it with my brother on a rainy day- after much whining and pulling about- and at first I was completely uninterested, but after a few minutes in, I was hooked. The story's great, the characters are each unique and the animation is wonderful.
This then lead me on to watching the Starship Troopers film and then I read the original book by Robert Hienlein. The book is completely different to the film and the animation is more like the film. But all three are brilliant- although the film, I found, quite confusing.
My favourite character has to be Higgins. However, I haven't seen the whole set yet, just: Pluto and Tesca Nemarosa one's, but i'm determined to find them all and watch each one too. They're all funny, imaginative and full of action, suitable for all sci-fi fans and those over eight years old, to fully understand hidden meanings. Enjoy!
The King's Beard (2002)
A Great Movie For Both Kids And Adults
The Kings Beard is a absolutely great film. I watched it the day before Christmas- I'm really glad I did! The animation is top-notch and the story is brill. But I must warn you, the songs can get quite annoying after watching it more than five times, but it's a good film, perfect for a rainy day.I found that, after asking around my own age group, that majority of people loved it, even my mum loves it! It's simple but has a really good feel to it- a lot of heart must of gone into it.
Whatever you do, don't judge the clips of it or front cover of the video, you need to see what it's really like by watching it. This is a great film for all ages- even the older generations too. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did... Have Fun!
