Our First Christmas (2008)
Lost Lewis Smith
I watched this 3 times to see Lewis Smith. i guess he was on the cutting room floor. Lewis is the best contemporary actor I've seen since the day of big studio & big stars. I'd buy anything he does but the business is more interested in nepotism than quality of performance. The story line touched on real issues & confusion in blended families. Many hallmark stories portray realistic content but entertainment still needs to give an escape from some of the daily conflict. Inspiration is so much desired in a very difficult political & financial climate. More period/teaching story lines are great for taking us away from daily disappointments.
North and South (1985)
Music makes the scenes
Bill Conti creates an atmosphere of a top notch performance. A supreme combination was series #1.6 frame 13 entitled Ambush - the drum emphasis elevates the section to fever pitch. Absolutely the most appropriate addition to a more than excellent performance. Conti tied all portions of North & South to a momentous event. It is wonderful to see matching music, story, & casting explain the pain of Civil War History. This combination should be included in all American history classes. In the summary interviews filmed in 2005 Conti simply states "I think it delivers the goods" referring to the title. Yes it more than delivers the goods - the music so well matches the mood & message it ties the entire package with huge bow. My second most favorite use of sound is the special melodies & sounds attributed to individual characters, love it.
One Last Dance (2003)
Love personified
This movie needs to be re-released because of Patrick's untimely death so soon after. It is a development of love & talent. We must see beyond the surface to the emotion. It must have been devastating to Lisa & Patrick that this was not the hit it should have been. The truth of creativity is we create because we have a need to share a message. The message if not received is the error of the listener not the creator. Someday good work will be recognized. Thank you to Lisa for exposing her private skills & ingenuity in the flood of Patrick's success. Lisa Please enjoy a future full of happiness & continued maturity. I will watch "One Last Dance" often.
