Fighter (2024)
Cheap topgun with tons of plot holes
The movie could've been a great movie if they focused on one or two counterattacks, mission planning, diplomatic obstacles, intelligence challenges, and a better romantic story. Rather, the director and writer decided to make it a cheap movie with a tons of plotholes and unrealistic and inaccurate flight maneuvering.
Here are some of them:
1) How can Pak airplanes destroy Indian ammunition depot? It will be an act of war.
2) how Basheer khan was murdered despite the order of the Pak PM? This will lead to a diplomatic meltdown and maybe a war.
3) how come there was no minister or high official to receive Basheer's deadbody?
4) how can an ISI agent (double agent) report to a Jaish commander whereas ISI generals are unaware of it?
5) how did Patty reach to save Sukhi and others? He was in a parachute in mountainous area, at least tens of km away from Sukhi.
This movie becomes a laughing stock because of these inconsistencies and no connection with realities.
Mission Majnu (2023)
Demonstration of Cheap Patriotism
I don't know how long Indian audiences will keep giving 10 stars to such BS movies. No solid plots, spies are super lucky, all security personnels of the enemy are dumb, unnecessary and unrealistic fighting scene-- all the components of a cheap spy movie you will find in this movie. The movie could be a good one, yes.. it has that potential, but the scriptwriter or the director did not want to use their head.
To make matters worse, Siddharth failed to do a great job here, despite having some good opportunities to demonstrate his acting ability. Throughout the movie, for the spying part, he looked happy-go-lucky. He failed to portray the tension or suspense or thrill of spying in enemy army territory.
If you are into spy movie, watch Romeo-Akber-Walter and Phantom movies. Those two are gems compared to this Mission Majnu movie.
Rocketry: The Nambi Effect (2022)
Emotional Indians inflated the ratings
I am reviewing it from a non-Indian (aka non-emotional) perspective:
No doubt the movie plot was interesting but I didn't find Mr. NAMBI a hero that the movie potrayed. Of course he was unfairly treated by the system and he deserves a good compensation from the Indian govt and people. Thus, his acclaims are well deserved. Yet, the way the movie claimed that India is the first nation to go to Mars in the first attempt and Mr. NAMBI made it happen were blatant exaggeration. It seems Mr. Nambi is a brilliant scientist who kept looking for stealing ideas, data, and resources. He got everything from other countries and the movie made a big fuss about it by claiming he did it from scratch. The way the movie presented ISRO was saddening. There were other good scientists, including APJ Kamal, there as well but the movie kind of showed everyone incompetent. The movie showed big contracts with foreign countries were already negotiated by Mr. NAMBI while in reality these high level contracts could not be signed or negotiated without high level govt involvement. I think the movie overestimated Mr. Nambi and thus fictionalized many part of it.
Bellbottom (2021)
Cheap presentation of a potentially wonderful story
When I was watching the movie, I had a feeling that I am watching 90s commercial movie. This retro feel was not pleasant, rather irritating. The entrance scene of the hero, the scenes of final planning, one-man army show- all these feel so cheap. Also, it was never made clear how Akshay knows ISI was behind these plots, the solid evidence was always missing.
The directors forgot that this is no more 90s, people already saw excellent spy thrillers in Hollywood (and a few in Bollywood as well).
Brand New Cherry Flavor (2021)
Don't waste your time!
I am a horror lover and I found this overhyped- just a waste of time.
The plot is twisted, no doubt about it, but ultimately the series was ended with countless unanswered questions.
Ludo (2020)
Full of entertainment
Finally, a great comedy drama movie from Bollywood. This is one of the well made and entertaining movies in Bollywood in last 5 years. Everyone did a fantastic job in acting. The making of the movie is also applaudable. Running four stories simultaneously and converging them together-- hats off, Anurag Basu.
Praktan (2016)
Excellent movie. Must watch
A very well made movie. The complexities of relationship between husband-wife was demonstrated in an articulated way. The movie ultimately gave some important messages- patience and compromise (for both husband and wife) are crucial to sustain a marriage. The last scene with the poem was heart touching.
I'm giving it a 9 star because the comedy of Anupom Roy was very bad. He should not do acting.
Thappad (2020)
If you don't like this movie, this movie is for YOU!
Let me be honest, I watched the trailer and didn't like it. I though just for a slap (or a heat of the moment incident) you should not ask for divorce, that's ridiculous. I decided to not to watch the movie.
Anyway, my friends started watching the movie and I thought let's give it a try. And I can tell you for sure that this movie is NOT about a slap, it's more than that. It's about empathy, compassion, love, and respect. The message of the movie is too strong for a society in which women are suppressed in almost all sorts of activities.
I realized if you just stick to the 'slap' and don't get the broader message, you belong to one of these three groups: 1) you are the oppressor, 2) you intentionally don't want to understand so that you can justify yourself about the ill-intended dominance of men over women, 3) your intellectual capacity is too low.
Made in China (2019)
Don't waste time
This is NOT a comedy movie. It's a pathetic show of a cheap story. Spare yourself from watching this movie.
Bard of Blood (2019)
Pathetic, poor portrayal of spy activities
I watched "The Spy" and "Family Man' before watching this show. Compared to those two, this show is pathetic. I couldn't even finish watching this. This show is a poor portrayal of spy activities. This show demonstrated Pakistan Army and Taliban as novice, untrained fighters who cannot aim anything at at all. Contrarily Indian spies are so smart that they can shot dead Talibans without looking at them. Also, when Emraan was stabbed down Taliban fighters, who were protecting Mullah, those fighters were looking at the opposite side of the door, not towards the door. I mean, seriously!! Right at that moment, this show became like those South Indian movies where you can kill people with 'banana'.
People, see 'Family man' instead, you will at least enjoy a good spy show.
Anjaan: Rural Myths (2018)
Pathetic show of cheap horror stance
If you watched Aahat or Z-horror show, you can correlate those stories with this new 2018 series. The people who were involved this show forgot that this is NOT 1990s, the horror movies and series-es went a long way already. I wonder how a big production company like Netfilx produced this show of cheap horror. I am from S. Asia and I know there are rural stories which are scary and I can surely say that a good plot, direction, and acting can superbly present the true horror. See, for instance, Ghoul- another Netflix series, which is outstandingly created. This Anjaan TV series has weak plots, silly acting, annoying background sounds, irrelevant jump scare moments.
The Cloverfield Paradox (2018)
Boring, baseless plot
Plot of this movie is outrageous. It tried to address a complicated issue on space-time dimension, the name also sounds intriguing. Yet, the plot and acting were superficial, dull, and annoying.
