Big Fish (2003)
What can I say. What a film. Tim Burton's 'Big Fish' is fantastic from beginning to end. The charming tale of Ed Bloom's life and the amazing adventures he has been on make this film a great one to see.
Whether you are a Burton fan or not I highly recommend this film to anybody who enjoys adventure films. The great thing about this is that the movie doesn't just focus on the adventures themselves, it goes deeper to show the basis of the adventures and the ways in which they are told. The adventures of Ed Bloom are paralleled in his son, Will, who is on an adventure of his own, to find out the truth to his fathers life.
Overall, the journey we see all characters go on and the tale of a storyteller makes this film a definite must see.
The Island (2005)
This film has been given a lot of harsh feedback by many people. Which is really a shame. "The Island" was very good. It had a great cast, good storyline and plenty of action which kept me entertained throughout. The film is lengthy but surprisingly I didn't look at my watch once (which i usually do for movies that are quite lengthy).
The thing I really enjoyed about "The Island" was the idea behind it. The story was really interesting. I quite often found myself sitting (in the cinema, next to whitey), putting myself in people's shoes. The clones for example, I looked at the story from their p.o.v, and did the same with the other people.
Being quite far-fetched and futuristic I was surprised at just how believable the film was. Though it was set in the future, I didn't feel that I was watching someone's 'dream' of how they want the future to be like. I felt that most things shown will probably happen in the future.
Overall, this film was great. Even if your not sure, due to all of the bad reviews, give it a go and see what you think, you'll be pleasantly surprised.
The Perfect Score (2004)
I've been looking at many posts in the forum's and this film has been given lots of negative comments. I think "The Perfect Score" was a fantastic film. It contains humor, action and some deeper moments which I think helped this film to be an interesting and great watch. I was kept entertained, didn't look at how long there was until the end and enjoyed the lightheartedness of this film.
I certainly don't recommend this film to people who only appreciate films for how they're made or who made them. However, if you are in the mood for a relaxing, comical film that keeps you entertained and happy, then see this film.
