Leave it to Barney
I really like this episode, the opening scene Andy and Barney are in the squad car chuckling and gossiping about Mayberry citizens,Barney mentions a Myra Kuntz(must be an attractive go-getter),meanwhile dept.store mgr.Ben Weaver signals the dynamic duo and alerts them his merchandise has been disappearing(lifted). Barney decides to scan the score at night, when Weaver does the same but wind up bumbling each other. In the conclusion Barney dresses as a store mannequin, funny scene when two lady customers laugh and says 'The dummy looks like Barney Fife',at that point Fearless Fife accuses elderly spinster Ms.Tuttle of lifting items however she has a receipt and lashes at Barney and Mr.Weaver, Andy takes an angry Barney outside and lectures him about being exactly sure someone is stealing suggesting that customer hasn't left the store and still may pay for items, however Andy states he viewed Ms.Tuttle and asks Barney to get a bathroom scale of the shelf and have Mrs.Tuttle her to weigh herself outside much to the dismay of store mgr.bewildered Mr.Weaver and 'pissed off' Ms.Tuttle.
All 3 notice 'little.old lady'Tuttle seems overweight but Andy was correct he tells her to.open her long coat and inside the lining she has stashed half the silver and other jewelry and utensils, she is led off to the slammer.
I can relate to this story as I've worked in the retail business many years and have caught hundreds of customers.
This is the ONE Andy Griffith Show episode in which Deputy Barney Fife(Don Knotts) proves his point. Barney vehemently complains to Andy how the local Mayberry Security Bank is a 'targeted crackerbox, anyone can rob the bank at free will because of no security measures, also cash drawers wipe open in plain sight and open bank vault door open. He really gets on edge when the moronic bank manager, dimwitted teller Harriet and really sleepy bank guard don't take Barney seriously,he even growls at Andy to the point Deputy Fife disguises himself as cleaning lady and steals cash from vault to prove his point. Barney lashes to everyone involved "When will you ever learn"?!
Sure enough the Mayberry Secutity Bank is held up,Andy,Harriet and Mildren believe its Barney but they're wrong. However Andy manages to capture the robber and Barney just happens to be outside giving his accomplice numerous parking tickets not knowing a Real bank robbery took place. Still today Deputy Barney Fife doesn't receive enough respect.'Its as simple as that.
The Honeymooners: A Man's Pride (1956)
Honeymooners: A Man's Pride
One of the better Honeymooners episodes. Ralph meets a childhood pal when he and Alice were courting, however Ralph is trying to give Bill Davis(which Ralph calls loudmouth) the brush. He tells Norton how Davis always makes a big name for himself and lets Alice know 'how good he's doing'. However Ralph know his boss Mr.Monahan leaves the office at 6:00 and informs(pretends) to Bill that he 'runs' the Gotham bus company, that he's the boss, when Bill wants to see his office Ralph nervously tells him that he's way too busy for visitors, however you can come by at 6:30. Bill says 'Ralph, you're the boss,so cancel your appointments and I'll visit you in your office, but Ralph says 'you can't do that, Bill: "Ralph, you're too wound up,slow down and we'll have a leisurely talk and in a half hour you'll feel like a new man". Ralph: "I haven't got a half hour!" Bill asks Ralph his home phone number,Norton intercedes and gives Bill his number 'Trixie the maid will answer it'.
In the conclusion Ralph,Alice,Bill and his wife Millie are dining and dancing at a very expensive restaurant in which neither wants to pay the check. Bill confess to Millie(in private)that he lied to Ralph, when in fact he's really an assistant plumber. When Ralph and Alice return from dancing Bill tells the waiter to bring the check,Ralph figures Bill will pay,but Ralph's silly pride gets the better of him, when the check does come he insists he'll handle it.Bill: "OK Ralph".
Ralph realizes he screwed himself "I have a confession to make Alice has told me thousand times not to be someone I'm not I can't pay the check". Millie tells Bill "you better say something',he states I can't pay either,i'm not a big shot I'm an assistance plumber. All four start laughing their heads off and Ralph and Bill amusingly tease each other. Fortunnately Ralph says 'i got $12,Bill says I got $9,Millie has $6.
The Brady Bunch: Top Secret (1974)
Bobby and Oliver give Sam the 'freeze'.
I really like this episode, of course 12 year old Bobby and cousin Oliver jump to conclusions that they assumed Sam(Allan Melvin) was a double agent/spy. Funny scenes were when Greg poured talcum powder on Bobby and Oliver. Sam tells the boys how fearless and courageous army tall tales, they never caught 'Sly Sam'.
Near the end Bobby and Oliver lock Sam and Mr.Gronsky in the freezer. When Mike sees this he unlocks the freezer, 'How in the world could you boys possibly believe something like that, don't lock anyone in anything anymore', Sam replies 'This is one spy who's glad he came in from the cold'.
Leave it to Beaver; Eddie Haskell forges Beaver's Report Card
I've been watching Leave it to Beaver since 1957,of course there were many episodes in which Beaver struggles with his studies, however this time Ward and June stress Beaver hit the books to improve his arithmetic grades, naturally June is concerned so she contacts Beaver's teacher with test scores. On report card day Beaver finds out he received a D for his math grade during the semester, for some reason Eddie and Lumpy snoop inside the Cleaver's house esp.Ward's den where Beaver report card is kept. However sneaky Eddie forges Beaver's math grade to B+ and to urge Beaver to keep silent, but June is very pleased believing Beaver studied hard to.earn the B+ grade. Wally is suspicious and confronts Eddie who confesses to changing the grade without any remorse, naturally Ward and June are outraged that Eddie and Lumpy could be so deceitful. I also recall Wally pressuring Eddie to phone Ward and June and apologize for his 'funny joke'. Ward demands answers and asks Wally 'why do you stay friend with Eddie?' Wally responds 'that's Eddie being Eddie', meanwhile it seemed Beaver was 'suckered' into this scheme.
