I'm a horror fan that's not a gore hound. I go for plot and interesting characters more than gore and bloodiness.I love movies set in old hospitals and asylums and extremely low budget b-movies.
Some of my favorites include:
Children of the Corn (franchise)
Ghost Watcher 1 & 2
Sleepy Hollow High
28 Days Later
My Little Eye
Death Row (Haunted Prison)
and so many more
Some of my non horror favorites include:
Pump Up the Volume
The Breakfast Club
Jumpin' Jack Flash
Fried Green Tomatoes
Ferngully : The Last Rainforest
The Purple Rose of Cairo

He's Baaaaaaaaaacck.... Here's Isaac!
Thank goodness. Isaac is back and more spiteful than ever! John Franklin reprises his role as the original "Giver of his word" the malicious Isaac Chroner in this 6th installment of the Children of the Corn Series. He also helped write the screenplay for this film. I loved this film because up until this fans had to speculate on what had happened to the first 'children' in Gatlin. The sequels are good but some of them stray so far from the original COTC plot that they leave holes. Number 6 helps you to fill in some of those gaps and wonderings. Everyone played their roles so well that you almost believed you were living the film. Okay here we go hang on because it's going to be a bumpy ride...
(DO NOT READ THIS PART IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE FIRST COTC FILM!!! THIS IS A PLOT SUMMARY)
Hannah Martin (the daughter of Amos Deign, the guy who celebrated his 19th birthday in COTC) is returning to Gatlin to find out what her adopted mother tries to keep hidden about her past. Doing so Hannah starts off the first in a chain of events from a prophecy that Isaac foretold. On her way to Gatlin Hannah picks up a stranger named Jerimaiah who foretells her future from a passage in the bible. When she arrives in the little farm town that's falling off the map Hannah is stopped by a police woman, Cora who unbeknown to Hannah is an original Child of the Corn. Cora takes her to the Gatlin County Hospital where Doc Michaels tells her she should leave Gatlin as soon as possible. While on her way out of the hospital Hannah is chased by Cora's mentally ill brother, Jake who runs around chanting biblical quotations about Isaac. Jake chases her up to a room where inside a patient lies in a coma. Who is the patient? Isaac Chroner himself. Ever since the first film Isaac has been in a coma for 19 years. Hannah goes into the room and lightly brushes Isaac's hand. (dramatic music) Isaac awakens (sort of the whole Snow White and Prince Charming kiss thing). Hannah decides to get out of there and runs into a handsome guy named Gaberiel who works at the hospital. Still unaware of the prophecy Hannah stays in Gatlin and goes to a little hotel after being chased by a mysterious stranger in a pick-up truck. The people who run the hotel are none other than Matt(Isaac's son) and his girlfriend. They know about the prophecy which states that the first born son (Matt) and the first born daughter (Hannah) of the first children will beget a new generation of the chosen. It seems everyone is doing everything they can to run Hannah out of dodge. When Hannah goes to the cemetery to dig up her supposed grave her real mother, Rachel shows up and explains that she's the mysterious stranger in the pick-up truck. She also tells Hannah of the prophecy. Stating that Isaac wants Hannah to become the mother of a superior race and that the prophecy says that Hannah will decide to do it. Hannah denies it all and chalks it up to insanity. Ignoring her mother's plea to leave Hannah digs up her grave finding an empty coffin. Another event in the prophecy is fulfilled. Hannah goes back to the hospital to find some answers and finds that Isaac is not in his bed. She runs into Gaberiel again. Isaac meets his son for the first time and later we see a gathering going on in the clearing of the cornfields. Isaac gives Matt the "mark of the chosen" and Hannah is captured and given the same mark. The union of Matt and Hannah is about to begin when Matt's girlfriend causes a disturbance and she and Hannah escape. But Matt's girlfriend is captured and Isaac orders him to kill her. He fails and Isaac disowns him in a way. Hannah is taken on a motorbike to a barn and has a nervous break down until the driver reveals himself as Gaberiel. They have a little roll in the hay and afterword Matt barges in. Gaberiel tells him that he'll be with his girlfriend soon and Matt kills himself by falling on a scythe. Hannah and Gaberiel go back to the hospital where Cora, Isaac and Hannah's mother are. Hannah's mother is being tortured when Hannah walks in. She and Isaac have a little chat about her father and what her destiny is suppose to be. Gaberiel makes Cora shoot herself. Gaberiel walks in and confronts Isaac telling him that he is the original first born son. Isaac betrayed him by denying that he is and puts Matt in his place. Gaberiel lets Isaac know quick that he is the first born son and that the prophecy is fulfilled. The first born son and the first born daughter have sown a seed. Gaberiel wants to see Isaac grovel and uses his powers to pin Isaac to the ground like a crucifix. We discover that Gaberiel is actually He Who Walks Behind the Rows. He kills Isaac and Hannah and her mother are about to leave when Gaberiel confronts them. Rachel stabs him with a sickle and Gaberiel states this as he dies "The seed has already been sown." Hannah and Rachel bolt as Gaberiel falls to the ground. We think he's dead but he isn't because come on he's He Who Walks Behind The Rows. He makes the building explode. Killing Cora's brother. Hannah and Rachel manage to get out before the blast and we are left with this... Hannah is carrying the child of He Who WalksBehind the Rows and a cliffhanger remains for a later installment of Children of the Corn.
Children of the Corn (1984)
Beware of He Who Picks The Corn
This movie is AWESOME!!!!! Open with a coffee shop massacre. That'll get the audience's attention. Prologue: To sum it up spooky cult of children kill all the adults and worship a corn deity named He Who Walks Behind the Rows. *3 years later* Burt Stanton and his girlfriend Vicky are on a cross country road trip to Seattle. Trying to push their arguments aside, they try to focus on being a couple. While driving through rural Nebraska the two run over a boy who's stumbling in the middle of the road. When Burt reaches him the med student finds that the boy's throat was already slashed when he stumbled into the road. Who is he? Where did he come from? The couple stops at a near by almost ghost-townish like gas station. The old man there tells them to turn back and go to the near-by town of Hemmingford. Discourged the couple decide to go to Gatlin, a town that is closer instead. What they find there is every parents worst nightmare!!! The towns children are a cult of murderous malcontents. Children who wield sickles, scythes, and machetes and chant, "Spill the blood of the outlanders." The children are led by a boy preacher named Isaac Chorner and his henchman Malachai. And they worship an evil corn deity named He Who Walks Behind the Rows. These two characters (Isaac and Malachai) alone are enough to make your skin crawl! The machete twirling Malachai, and the "Giver of his word" Isaac will have you hiding your head under the covers. As for the rest of the story if you really want to know you'll have to watch the movie yourself. But to it's credibility this one movie has now spawned 6 sequels. Some good some not so swell. But there is no denying that Children of the Corn is one of the best horror films EVER made. As my name suggests I am COTCgirl. I am probably one of the biggest fans of the COTC films. So take my advice see this 80's classic for yourself. Then pick a row for yourself and join me in loving this wonderful treat of a film!
"A CHILD SHALL LEAD THEM"
If you liked this one do see the sequels even though some are not so good. Children of the Corn II: The Final Sacrifice, Children of the Corn III: Urban Harvest, Children of the Corn IV: The Gathering, Children of the Corn V: Fields of Terror, Children of the Corn 666: Isaac's Return, and Children of the Corn Revelation.
