Not as good as Snow White or Sleeping Beauty
I loved this film as a child. I watched this film recently for the 1st time in years & I found it to be very boring. Cinderella spends way too much with the mice and the cat. The plot doesn't pick up until the fairy godmother shows up. I got so bored during this movie. I kept wanting to look at my phone. I almost turned this film off because it was extremely boring. The songs aren't that good. A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes is decent but not amazing. So This is Love is isn't bad, but it's nothing to write home about. I don't like any of the other songs, especially the songs that the mice sang. Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo has to be one of the most obnoxious Disney songs in history. The mice are annoying especially Gus! I don't like most of characters in this film. Cinderella isn't bad but she's not very compelling in my opinion. The prince is forgettable, he barely has any lines. Lady Tremaine is a boring Disney villain. If it wasn't for this film though, the Disney animated company would have most likely shutdown because Disney hasn't had a hit since Snow White, still it is not enough to make me like this film. If you want to check out the princess films that were made when Walt Disney was alive, I would check out Snow White or Sleeping Beauty instead.
The one that started it all!
I decided to give Snow White another chance & I loved it! I can't believe I didn't like this film before. I think this film is so under-appreciated these days. This film gets a lot of flack these days especially from feminists! I'm tired of feminists attacking classics like Snow White. This film came out in 1937! That was almost 80 years ago. Women were viewed as second class citizens back then. Anyways, without this film there wouldn't have been The Little Mermaid, Pinocchio, Sleeping Beauty, Beauty & the Beast, Lady & the Tramp, Tangled, etc. People also complain about Snow White's voice, I can see why people may not like her voice but those kind of voices were popular in the 30s. I'll take Snow White's voice over singers such as Christina Aguilera who just screams all the time. Snow White paved the way for all of the other Disney Princesses. This film is such a sweet movie but also dark at the same time which is a good thing. The characters aren't as well developed as more modern films but again this was in 1937. Snow White & Sleeping Beauty are the best princess films from the Walt era. People need to treat this film with more respect. People don't necessarily have to like it but please cut the film some slack because it is the oldest Disney movie & Disney wouldn't be where they are if it wasn't for Snow White.
Better than Frozen
I think Tangled is a much better film than Frozen. I wish Tangled got the attention that Frozen got. Frozen stole the attention away from Tangled. Anyways, I think Tangled is Disney's best film since Beauty & the Beast. I wasn't crazy about Tangled at 1st but after rewatching it recently I fell in love with it. The characters were funny. Pascal is my favorite character. Maximus cracked me up. The soundtrack also grew on me. I honestly think the soundtrack from Tangled is superior than the soundtrack from Frozen. Rapunzel is Disney's most charismatic princess since Ariel. I read somewhere that Ariel had influence on Rapunzel which makes a lot of since because their personalities are very similar. I think my only complaint about this film is Mother Gothel, while she is not a bad villain, she is not as good as Maleficent or Ursula. Other than that I highly recommend Tangled. It is Disney's best film since Beauty & the Beast.
I just watched this film for the 1st time!
I just watched Pinocchio for the 1st time & I was amazed at how much I liked it! I think this is the best film that was made by Walt Disney. The characters are great. Who doesn't like Jiminy Cricket? My favorite character from Pinocchio is Figaro the cat. I love cats. Cleo is a cute fish. The soundtrack is one of Disney's best. When You Wish upon a Star is Disney's signature song. Pinocchio might be my 3rd favorite Disney movie. The plot is compelling & entertaining. I don't think this film is boring at all. I wish the Walt era films got more attention. Everyone my age likes The Lion King, Aladdin, Mulan, & a lot of the other Renaissance films. While I love The Little Mermaid & Beauty & the Beast, I think Renaissance era is overrated. This is a film everyone should watch. It is a timeless masterpiece.
Good but a bit overrated
This movie isn't bad but it is not one of Disney's best. I feel that Jasmine is all talk & no action. People call out on Snow White & Aurora for being damsels but no one calls out on Jasmine for being a damsel. The jokes get old after a while. Jafar isn't that great of a villain IMO (in my opinion). I find this movie to be too silly. The soundtrack is obnoxious. The only song I like is A Whole New World but Aladdin's singing voice is annoying. I think the last great movie Disney has made was Beauty & the Beast except for Mulan. I don't think the film has aged well. It is not as timeless as The Little Mermaid or Beauty & the Beast.
My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002)
Funniest movie ever!
My Big Fat Greek Wedding is the funniest movie ever! This film never gets old. I laugh every time I watch it. I like how unlike a lot of modern comedies from today, there is no slapstick humor. I think its funny how the father brags about Greek culture. I thought it was hilarious when Ian Miller got beaten up by an old lady. I also thought it was funny when Tula 1st saw Ian she got distracted & ended pouring the coffee in the wrong cup. Another funny scene was when Maria put a flower in the bunt. My favorite quote in this movie was when Voula said: "What do you mean he don't eat no meat?" Then there was an awkward silence. Then she said: "Oh that's OK, that's OK, I make lamb." I think its funny how boring Ian's parents are. Here is a fun fact, the actress that played Tulu, Nia Vardalos, married a Greek in real life & this movie is based on she married a non-Greek. All in all it is a timeless movie that never gets old!
Toy Story 2 (1999)
Very good sequel!
Toy Story is one of the few Disney/Pixar movies to have a good sequel. The 2nd was not as good as the 1st or the 3rd but it was still very good. I loved that this film introduced Jessie & Barbie. I also love that Barbie was voiced by the same actress that voiced my favorite Disney Princess Ariel, Jodi Benson! I couldn't stand Al McWhiggin (Chicken Man)! He stole Woody. Luckily Buzz, Mr. Potato Head, Rex, & Hamm were determined to rescue Woody. What I love about the Toy Story movies is the team work. The characters never give up. I couldn't stand Slinky Pete. I just wanted to go into the movie & destroy him! He did get what he deserve. It was funny that he got paired with Barbie. I loved the chemistry between Jessie & Woody. Toy Story movies have a great cast of characters. All in all a very good movie!
Dirty Dancing (1987)
Classic love story!
If I had to make a list of top 10 favorite movies this would be in the list. This movie has a wonderful soundtrack. I love the chemistry between Johnny Castle & Frances Houseman. They are my favorite movie couple! It was very sad that Patrick Swayze passed away. I think Dirty Dancing has a good message. I think the message is that people will stand up for you no matter what it costs you. Baby tried to stick up for Johnny. My all time favorite movie quote is "Nobody puts Baby in a corner." Hungry Eyes is my all time favorite song in this film. The soundtrack to Dirty Dancing is probably my all time favorite movie soundtrack. This is a movie everyone should see before they die.
I was very disappointed with this film. It looked so good on the trailers. I honestly think this movie butchered the Sleeping Beauty story. I didn't like how they made Stefan the bad guy. That is not the King Stefan I grew up with. I also didn't like the portrayal of Phillip. This movie totally butchered the character! I couldn't stand the fairies in this film. They were not the fairies I remember growing up with. I didn't like how the names of the fairies were changed. I also didn't like how they made Stefan selfish. He didn't even care that his wife was dying! I have to say Angelina Jolie did a great job portraying Maleficent. Ella Fanning also did a great job portraying Aurora but I didn't like anything else about this movie. I didn't care for the cover of Once Upon a Dream. I think Walt Disney is rolling in his graves. If you want to watch an adaptation of Sleeping Beauty, just watch the 1959 version instead!
Toy Story (1995)
Such a cute movie!
Generally I'm not a huge fan of Pixar but I do love Toy Story. It is such a cute story! Who doesn't love a story about toys coming to life? I love the chemistry between the characters. My favorite character is Slinky. Toy Story is one of those movies that puts you in a good mood. I hated Sid! I just wanted to go into the movie & strangle him! He makes me sick! Why would you want to destroy toys for children? All in all its a wonderful movie for all ages. IMO it is the best CGI movie & generally I am not to keen on CGI movies. It is also one of the few Disney/Pixar films to have good sequels. Usually Disney/Pixar sequels are awful. It is my favorite movie trilogy.
