Video Game Vixens (2005)
Funniest Awards show/ beauty pageant ever
This was a four part Awards Show on G4 pitting the hottest Video Game Vixens against each other in different categories. (Ie Biggest Guns Baddest Good girl, etc..)
Hal Sparks hosted and featured a panel of three Judges. Former WWE Diva Joy Giovanni, Video game columnist Seanbaby, and Game Expert and Road Rules cast member Jake Bronstein.
The final episode featured the winners of the 9 categories with only one vixen taking the crown.
Also on the side we had a segment called the Vixen Hunter, in which a nerdy little man is obsessed with game vixens and finds the perfect real life vixen. (For example he get knocked out by Boxing Beauty Mia St. John.)
I just hope there will be a Vidwo Game Vixens 2.
The Snow Queen (1995)
Musical telling of an old tale
I'm not sure if you could spot spoilers or not but better safe than sorry.
I have seen this movie more times than I can count. Having a niece that is under 5 will do that to you.
This movie is basically about a young girl's (Ellie) journey to find her older brother(Tom) after they hitch a ride with the Snow Queen's sleigh.
Her only companion on her quest is a sparrow named Peeps.
This all happens when a mirror that belongs to the queen breaks into a thousand pieces and 2 of the pieces get lodged in Tom's heart and eye. This turns the boy evil and cold hearted.
The snow queen then forces him to put her mirror back together because he is very good at doing puzzles.
In this movie you meet several interesting, and some sinister characters. Such as a gang of trolls, a wicked witch who wants to regain her youth, a gang of rat thieves, a flying reindeer, and a married crow couple who work for a royal family.
I give this 8 out of ten because there is a good story buried in this movie but like most animated features this is a musical.
Also like most animated musicals this is an ideal movie for a family movie night.
Narue no sekai (2003)
Sweet anime with a comic book attitude
I really don't want to spoil this but might have to. World of Narue is with out a doubt one of the sweetest Anime cartoons I have seen. It has everything from alien battles to comic book geeks and sweet natured school girls. Two of which can be found in the form of Narue Nanase.
Narue is your typical 14 year old school girl however she is actually an alien.
This follows the adventures and mishaps of Narue and her new boyfriend Kazuto, and their friends.
It had a few sweet romantic moments but had a few moments of sweet natured comedy.
I highly recommend "World of Narue" to any one just starting to watch Japanese animation.
I do however have to warn, that this is mostly for a more mature audience. There are some elements that are not suitable for children. Such as violence and mild sexual reference.
Out of 5 stars I can easily give it 5.
