The Past Is My Future, 31 January 2006
6/10

For those that are long time Burt Reynolds fans, this movie is unique. For the first time in many years, Burt was forced to act instead of being a sexy model who could spew lines on cue. Sadly, Burt doesn't portray a aging hippie really well. It isn't the acting that is so bad. it is the writing. Scene changes at the very beginning of the movie confuses, then brush off. It takes until almost the middle of the movie to fully understand what is going on. The underlying story of a young girl finding herself works out eventually. But that too takes forever. All of the actors and actresses do a wonderful job in their parts. Horrible writing kills their acting jobs though. A touching story once you forget about the worthlessness of it all.

"But I'm not Peter Pan, he is!", 25 December 2005

best picture out of the year 2004. this movie shows the true story of the Peter Pan character being created through the eyes of the author. Each of the child actors do a wonderful job. Watching them portray their fantastic creations and stories reminds each of us , or should remind us of the joy of being a child. Winslet does an admirable job forecasting a sick mother and looks hauntingly pale through out the story but as always is pricelessly beautiful. anyone that has ever acted on-stage knows the difficulty in creating a character. watching the cast from the opening failed play try to figure out how to be children, and pets, is a wonderful job of acting.Johnny Depp once again proves why he is one of the greatest actors of all time. with the detail and accent that he adds within his character, Oscar winning acting. This script is wonderful. the music direction is top notch. definitely a must have DVD to add to your home collection!

beginning of this movie is rather slow. Story is decently written, could have been better though. music score adds a great suspenseful bridge. Casting of 2 main characters is wonderful. Banderas does a wonderful job playing a self indulgent drunk ex fbi officer. Liu does a wonderful job at showing a non emotional killer with heart. The pair work well together. The only bad casting call is the son between Banderas and his wife. She is obviously European, he is obviously Latin. But they have a white son. The little boy does a nice job in his few lines, but doest have the right facial features. Fight scenes at the end make this movie very good. actors make this movie work well. writing is horrible, there is no suspense except for that the child is ecks and not gants. great movie to add to your collection

Bubble Boy (2001)

writing is basically in the style of national lampoon type. funny moments are every so often. mrs. kurtz definitely breaks her usual mold. She starts out being religious, but with mentioning of other cast members, you can tell she has a past. interaction between the bubble boy and hot chick is nice. you almost wish he had let her inside the bubble when she was drunk. the interaction with slim and bubble rocks. the religious cult freaks are simply funny as hell. you know when they boot him, that they will need him back. i am going to hell, the funniest line in the movie. ice cream and curry, what a mix. watching the religious cult become curry freaks at the end rocks.

Excellent cinematography. Director uses a wide array of camera angles and tricks to show a great action based story. Should have forgotten Daredevil and went straight to this. JG plays a great villain, then hero. Perfect body, perfect face, athletic moves. Whatsn not to love? Movie uses several techniques used to prolong other movies, and gets rather dull at some points. The fading in and out of childhood memories keeps everything up to par though. Writers did a OK job, but without the actors, the movie would have fallen flat. Lots of action. Tons of remorse. A decent movie to add to your selection if your into action and gorgeous ladies. The chosen one wasn't found in this, but hell, who cares. Great martial arts sequences. Choreographer did a wonderful job with his or her work.

within actual historical events, this movie misses greatly. but seeing as how Achilles was a fictional myth anyway, the storyline moves well. the actors and actresses all play great roles. from common slaves to generals of army's and navy's. battle scenes were realistic and action packed. brad Pitt does a wonderful job in this movie. all the female leads were beautiful and well designated. if your stocking up on movies, then you'll want to have this . the reason why you'll want this is for the view of watching men contemplate right and wrong within the frame of love and battle. a nicely written film with good directing and positive acting! could have been better, but they figured with Pitt in it, any and everyone would want to watch it. For history buffs, it fails in integrity, but hey, its cinema, what were you thinking?

the glory and the horror of war all wrapped into one, 18 March 2005

Fantastic. The tail of the 1st major American battle in Vietnam. Extremely well written script. Perhaps the best Vietnam movie ever written. Most movies only tell things from one side. some show two sides if the script is decent. This movie shows this point of view of this time from three different perspectives. one part is the US soldiers point of view. Mel Gibson does a wonderful job in his acting in this film. Watching Mel question his own orders, then watching him give orders himself and then wonder if they were right shows a scene few movies have ever reached upon. Vietnam wasn't a well received time period in the US history. This movie shows soldiers dealing with each other, becoming more than just platoon buddies. The next point of view was the point of the wives of the US soldiers. When their men had left, they stayed strong. Madelaine Stowe plays a perfect wife in this film. You can actually see and feel her heartbreak as she lets her new found friends know their husbands had died. The final point of view from this movie was the VC point of view. the Colonel of the VC army, played by Don Duong is a wonderful job. This movie has other actors in it that most will recognize .Chris Klein does a wonderful job as a new father and husband off to war for the 1st time. Kerri Russel totally escapes her "Felicity" role as she portrays a young mother who loses her husband but remains a loyal friend. Sam Elliott plays a tough old SGT out to keep his Colonel alive. IN his older years now, Elliot often lands roles needing a mature strong man, and he does it well! The final actor in this movie most will know is Greg Kinnear. Escaping his comedy roots, Greg plays a wily helicopter pilot. Kinnear doesn't say much, but his acting is a nice job in this story. The finest acting in this film in my opinion though is Barry Pepper who plays the Newspaper man. He comes from a military family but wants to understand the war so he acts as a novelist. Seeing the anguish Pepper goes through as he figures out he either starts killing or ends up being killed is tough. Watching him wonder what is going to happen next almost makes you feel as if you are there with him yourself. a fantastic movie. lot of action and blood,so if your not into that, this movie isn't for you. But a very well directed, acted and written movie, the best I have seen in a long time!

well, hanks is a great actor. he plays many different rolls in all his movies. in this on,e he plays a bad acting southern professor crook. definitely his best movie ever. the writing is alright, but somehow, hanks falls flat. he is a wonderful actor. but in this he simply stinks. i guess its tough to picture him being a bad character. but, even though he plays one, he doesn't pull it off collectively. the best acting job of the movie is the old black lady. she plays a god fearing Christian woman. she loves the lord and bob Jones university. bob Jones loves her too because at the end they receive 1.6 million dollars from her. the sheriff is quite funny, reminds me of how a sheriff would act with an elderly patron that they try to keep happy who has a few mental issues.

quirky MTV humor. what child hasn't thought about robbing the answers to the sat. each one of us brought up in the age of the sat has. the writing in this is whimsical. the acting realistic. all the actors and actresses in this do a wonderful job. NBA star Darius miles plays a high school basketball star but does a nice job. the best job of acting is the movie is the basketball players mom. Scarlett does a wonderful job playing a bad girl. she looks gritty but you can still tell she is gorgeous. this was a decent movie.it was a little too teenager's for me, but so be it. nice humor through out, good job MTV! the directing of the inside at night scenes was the best part in this film. Nice to see a group of potential star quality actresses and actors finally get movie of their own for a change!

A beautiful story. truly the best acting job I have seen in a movie in years. Dunst does a wonderful job as a happy go lucky teenager. She does a great job showing how love can possess anyone. The story of the 50 year heist of fish leaves one wondering who is can be. Dunstdoes a wonderful job acting, but Lynn Redgrave does an even better job in the end. It doesn't come out until the end that Redgrave is Silly. One of the best dramatic acting rolls I have seen in ages. Perhaps the best acting job is done by Julia Brendler. You don't see that she too is the 50 year recipient. The pain and anger she feels at losing her first love comes to play as she realizes she is the one. the movie ends with her accepting this fate and starts to play her violin again. A truly great movie, every piece falls into place at the end. wonderfully written, wonderfully acted, wonderfully directed!
