Why, oh why...
Watching paint dry is more rewarding and has more dramatic of a plot. Even the predictable ending of a plain off-white satin finish is more satisfying than the whole of this film. The best part of the entire film was when my one request was finally granted (which I won't spoil here) roughly two minutes from the final credits.
Sustaining the hope that the film was purely metaphoric, I believe its point could have been made as a ten-minute short.
Tips for watching Gerry: - Have a crossword or other mind-occupying task handy. - Brew a fresh pot of coffee. - Keep one finger on the play button, and another on fast-forward. - Audio is optional. In fact, mute it and put that sad "Incredible Hulk" TV theme on repeat. - Actually, all of the film's substance is in the first and last five minutes. The stuff in between will either put you to sleep or give you a headache.
Criticism aside, I feel the film is an interesting metaphor which, if you think about it, is somewhat motivational.
In any case, good luck and you have my best wishes.
