Damien is one of the best shows on TV this season
Bradley James from BBC's Merlin, comes to us in the U.S. as Damien Thorn... the devil's son all grown up. Bradley's acting is amazing. His use of the American accent is not only believable, but done so well, that if I didn't know he was English...it would be difficult to tell.
Damien Thorn does not want to be the Anti-Christ. He is dead set on NOT causing deaths of others, and not following the people who want him to take his rightful role. He makes both friends and enemies along the way.
Many people who he loves, end up dead. This disturbs him to the point of desperation...wanting to find a way out of this madness.
The whole story revolves around Damien, his friends and Ann...played by Barbara Hershey. She is a woman who has devoted her entire life to Damien. He just recently meets her at the age of 30, and thinks she's nuts.
The entire season takes us on a glorious trip. We begin to not only love Damien, but we are hoping he can win his cause, and not follow the devil. In order to view the final ending of this story...you'll have to go to Facebook, type in Damien, and click LIKE...so that A&E will renew this fantastic show for next season :-)
After Earth (2013)
Not good or bad... love the ending
The beginning of the movie was okay...the ending was very good and heart warming. The middle of the movie which is most of it was very long, drawn out and a little boring. Jaden is an excellent actor! His emotions while acting are straight to the point and very realistic. I have always found that Will Smith, although I love his acting in most things...is a tad bit boring when doing these type movies. He tries very hard to sound very calm, unnerved and in command. To me it was like the movie where he donated body parts...very unnatural and not realistic at all. That's about all I'm going to say. You can watch it and judge for yourself.
The best movie I've seen yet!!!! EXCELLENT!
It's difficult to explain what excellent means or how it can possibly top Harry Potter or any other fiction/fantasy out these past few years...but James Cameron is a genius...and has mastered the idea of what everyone wants out of a fantasy/scifi movie. This movie has everything, from adventure, thrills, love...to the most dramatic experiences I've seen in movies yet. The graphics are amazing, and the story is TOPS! If you think you like The World of Warcraft, or any virtual world for that matter, wait until you see Pandora and it's people. Wait until you find yourself rolled up into their world so deeply, that you wish it were real so that you could fly there and join their race.
I am hoping with my whole heart that there will be a sequel. This is the most amazing story I've ever seen. I am a Harry Potter fan, Lord of the Rings and Narnia...but THIS is the most amazing story and graphics to match, that I've seen in MY lifetime for sure. MUST SEE!
The Golden Compass (2007)
Left me hanging after a very long beginning...
I didn't enjoy the beginning of this movie as it was very long and drawn out. I thought about taking a nap just as the first third of it was rolling along...
Suddenly everything began to fall into place. The girl's powers made sense, Nicole Kidman became a caring person, her Uncle was someone important to her, and the polar bear would soon become her best friend.
I was extremely disappointed at the end of the movie. At first I thought just maybe there will be a sequel...something to make this ending make sense, and a reason for us to feel unfinished and like we've been left hanging.
I truly think it's worth seeing once...after that you may not want to see it again, you may feel unfinished as I did; but you will definitely feel a certain enchantment about this film either way.
I think this movie was FANTASTIC! After all it's for kids :-)
I can only say that after reading the reviews from the people on this board, I'm deeply concerned. I find that when reviewing a children's movie, one has to remember that it's just that...a children's movie. It's not for adults and wasn't meant to capture the adult audience; therefore some of the remarks are incorrect. Here goes my review: My Grandson is almost three years old. He's smart and knows when something is good and when it's not. He loved this movie. He found it full of creativity and the gold dust story just added to the fantasy. I thought this story was well thought out for young children and done in very good taste.
Thomas and the Magical Railroad is about a Magical Railroad who needs one special train named Lady to keep it alive. If the lost train named Lady isn't found, the railroad and all the magic that goes along with it will vanish...
Along comes Lily, a young girl who is led, without her knowledge to help the fantasy stay alive. She arrives by train to visit her Grandfather who lives on a mountain... she is brought onto the wrong train for all the right reasons... to meet the people who she will eventually help...
It's a wonderful movie. The kids loved it and I highly recommend it for a very creative event at home with the kids :-)
