Kamli (2022)

SUPERB!

India has Tabu, Shabana Azmi & Smita Patel. We have Saba Qamar, Sania Saeed & Nimra Bucha. They can simply act through their eyes as the audience could see the loneliness in their characters. This film reminded me of the art movies which once the indian film industry used to make. Direction by Sarmad Khoosat is beyond good. Songs are properly placed in the movie according to the situations. The area where movie is shot is beautifully shown. Each and every song of this movie is very good. Loved the chemistry between Saba and Hamza especially during the song Naina. Every single frame of this movie is a masterpiece itself. Beautiful cinematography! I hope this movie is a box office hit so that we Pakistanis are able to watch more movies like Kamli instead of the lame comedy so-called Eid films.

Last but not the least, the ending scene is excellent and I love the cliff hanger ending. Would totally recommend this movie.

Ghabrana Nahi Hai (2022)

Loved it. A must watch.

All the actors performed really well especially Saba Qamar Zaman. She chose the right script after Hindi Medium. Loved the storyline which was very engaging. And the best part about the story and jokes was that it was very relatable to ordinary Pakistanis. So we can call it an awami movie. This is one of the few Pakistani movies with the filmy feel in it without overdoing it. I just think they could have made better movie posters and music. Otherwise, everything else was excellent. Would give this movie 10/10.

Worst screenplay ever.

Imran Ashraf still acting like Bhola in Ranja Ranja Kardi.

The lead actress also expressionless.

Songs were good but, could not hide everything bad in this movie.

Not recommended.

Intelligent Storytelling.

Four women, a socialite, a wedding planner, a convict and a student set up a secret detective agency in Karachi. It's entertaining with good dialogue. Great performances by Sarwat Gilani, Yasra Rizvi and especially Nimra Bucha. The story picks up its pace after 5 episodes. Finally, a story from Pakistan without showing women as damsels in distress.

Jennifer Aniston completely steals the show as Alex Levy. She completely gets into her character displaying the vulnerabilities as well as the strength of her character. Her dialogue delivery and her monologues are amazing. She chose a good TV Show after FRIENDS. The story is about a morning show as one of the co-hosts is fired on MeeToo charges. Reese Witherspoon is also good as Bradley Jackson.

Mahira Khan is in fact Pakistan's Marilyn Monroe

Mahira Khan nailed her role as Noori. She is infact the Marilyn Monroe or the Madhubala of the Pakistani cinema. Her dance, her expressions and body language was perfect. She is in fact Pakistan's real superstar. Bilal Ashraf as Sameer Khan was good too and his acting skills have improved alot. Nadeem Baig as Agha Jaan was perfect along with other veteran actors such as Marina Khan and Asma Abbas. It was good to see the veteran actors getting good roles. The music was superb especially the Galat Fehmi and Noori song. The direction and cinematography was outclass. This movie deserves to be watched in cinemas. A total paisa vasool movie.

Superstar (I) (2019)

Mahira Khan to Lollywood Is What Marilyn Monroe Was to Hollywood!!

Why is the imdb rating of Superstar so low? Mahira Khan is what Marilyn Monroe was to Hollywood and what Madhubala was to Bollywood. She is simply phenomenal. Mahira Khan nailed her role as Noori in the movie. Her dance was great especially in the Noori song. Bilal Ashraf has improved alot which was quite visible on the big screen. Mahira and Bilal as a couple looked great together. I hope they get to do more movies together. It was good to see Nadeem Baig back on the big screen in a meaty role. Music, dances, direction and cinematography was outstanding. It is highly recommended to watch Superstar on the big screen and missing it would be a crime!

Chhalawa (2019)

Wajahat Rauf is indeed Pakistan's worst director.

The story and dialogues were awful and not funny at all. A legendary actress like Mehwish Hayat was completely wasted in this movie. The only good thing about this movie was Zara Noor. However, her acting felt very similar to that of her aunt Bushra Ansari. Casting television actors like Azfer Rehman and Asad Siddiqui was not a good choice either. Asad Siddiqui's acting was cringeworthy especially in the scene where he was drunk. And casting Wajahat Rauf's son is a good example of nepotism. Chhalawa title song was a good song and its choreography was good as well. Chirrya was useless and it had no significance in the movie.

Acting, songs, visuals and direction is one of the finest to come out in the modern day Pakistani cinema. Maya Ali looked perfect as Saniya in the movie. Her expressions were excellent. She was actually giving the Audrey Hepburn vibes. I hope she gets to do more movies in the future. Shehreyar Munnawar looked handsome and very convincing in his role as a struggling actor. The supporting cast Zara Noor, Ahmed Ali, Hina Dilpazeer and the legend Nadeem Baig did an amazing job and they were perfect for their respective roles. However, I feel like Mahira Khan stole the show in her special appearance. She looked like a true diva in her role as Zeena. Her song Morey Saiyan gave the Madhubala vibes. Infact, she is the Madhubala or the Marilyn Monroe of the modern Pakistani cinema!!!!! The story was good too and it is one of the movies which will be loved by the youngsters in the country. And the songs will get popular among the masses too!!

Baaji (2019)

MOVIE OF THE YEAR!

Finally, an excellent Pakistani movie. Meera G played the role of an ageing actress and she was simply phenomenal. Her expressions and her dialogue delivery was amazing. Her character in the movie did have some similarities with the real-life Meera. I hope Meera G gets all the awards this year. Acting by Osman Khalid Butt, Ali Kazmi, Mohsin Abbas Haider, Nisho Begum, Nayyar Ejaz and especially Amna Ilyas was amazing. Amna Ilyas did a good job. I hope she becomes one of the leading actresses of Lollywood in future. Osman Khalid Butt brilliantly showcased the role of a wanna-be Lollywood director. The music was good as, they made remakes of the classical songs from old Pakistani movies. The costumes were beautiful. The movie highlighted how actresses from the old Lollywood are ignored in movies and are encouraged to do theatre instead. Most importantly, the story and direction of the movie was the best thing as, a movie without a proper script is useless. A shoutout to Saqib Malik and I hope he makes more movies in the future. My overall rating 10/10 So don't miss Baaji for your dose of thriller and suspense.

The only good thing about this movie was Neelum Munir. Songs were not up to the mark. Direction was just okay. Sami Khan was too old for this role.

This movie was nothing but, perfection. The cast of the movie did a very good job especially, Mehwish Hayat and Faiza Hassan. Fahad Mustafa was good as well but, I feel like it is totally wrong for an actor to have two movies releasing on the same date which indeed affected the box office of this movie. Direction of the movie by Nabeel Qureshi was good as well as the story line by Fizza Ali Mirza. The songs were up to the mark as well except, they could have replaced Mohsin Abbas Haider as the singer of one of the songs as his voice did not sound good. I hope more movies like this one are made my Pakistani film makers.

Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 (2018)

Worst movie ever.

Not a good movie to watch. Very boring indeed. And the duration of the movie is way too long with no storyline. Not recommended for anyone. Over-aged actors trying to play roles which should be for young people! Only watched this movie as, it had very good advertisements on tv.

Bandish (II) (1980)

One of the greatest movies by Pakistani cinema.

The story line and direction of this movie is excellent. Singapore and Indonesia looks pretty awesome in this movie. Acting by all the lead actors was great. A must watch. 10/10.

Aina (1977)

One of the best classical movies from the Pakistani cinema is Aina. Acting by Nadeem and Shabnam is amazing. Gives a realistic feel. Music is awesome. Every song in this movie was good. Direction and story line was also great. A must watch for everyone especially, Pakistani cinema lovers. Deserves a 10/10.

Worst acting by all actors especially, both of the female leads. No story line, poor direction and pathetic music. Not recommended for anyone to watch so, do not waste your money on watching films like this. This movie does not even deserve 1/10.

Motorcycle Girl is an inspirational movie not just for women but, also for men. We all should follow our dreams-is something this movie teaches us. Sohai Ali Abro was amazing as Zenith Irfan in this movie. The beauty of Northern Pakistan was also well captured in this movie. A must watch. 10/10
