Blade Runner (1982)
Can't touch this!
Best movie ever. Can't be beaten. I've heard that someone wants to remake this masterpiece. Why? There's nothing to rebuild, there's nothing to add and there's no scenes to cut. Every frame is Epic. This is the best interpretation of a character by Harrison Ford. No other artist could play a soundtrack of this grandeur like Papathanassiou did. In my opinion, the best soundtrack of all. The scenarios are majestic, the pace is the right one, the mood is incredible and the story still touches me. Visually this movie is absolutely stunning. My advice: don't remake the movie. It's not possible to do better; so why bother? Maybe a sequel or a prequel... This is THE MOVIE! like Hammer used to say: Can't touch this!
Under the Skin (2013)
Critics made me want to see this movie! fouled again!
I was waiting for this film and i waited for nothing. Crap. I think that we should create a new category/genre of films - like "pretensious art movies" or something like that, so that this one and movies like: "tree of life" could have its right expression. The movie never ended. The only thing that made me see it through the end was scarlet. Hopping she would take her clothes off one more time. And she did! These were the only highs of the movie. The lows were deplorable. No communication. Too slow. Stupid motorcycle staff support. And the scene where she tries to eat some cake...Christ! it took almost a hole minute just to move her arm up to her mouth. This is art, right? OK...if you say so! And the end?! oh! my god! I miss movies like: "close encounters" or "batteries not included", "E.T.", or even "Paul" or "Mars attack". This is a total disappointment. The critics must be crazy, that's all i can say.
I, Frankenstein (2014)
Good cinematographic experience
I enjoyed it a lot. It's a fine cinematographic experience. The mood is alright; the actors did good; the ambient is really dark and great...like "dark city". I read a lot of negative reviews of this movie but i decided to see it anyway on account of the poster that really caught my attention. When it finished I couldn't understand the critics i've read. Its really good entertainment. These kind of movies are not to be taken seriously, of course...we're talking about sci-fi movies! The story, is not that silly though and it's easy to follow. Anyway, sometimes you are in to see a rock solid action movie, a shivering thriller or a pungent drama; others you just want to relax, enjoy the mood, and have a real good loosing time. I've seen a lot or pretentious sci-fi movies that i hated (like "cloud atlas", although a lot of people loved it. This one has the particularity of gathering a lot of "bad mood voters", while I really enjoyed it. Whether you should "spend" time or not to see it, it's up to you, but i definitely recommend it.
The Wicked (2013)
not terror nor horror
This teen movie isn't horror; not even a thriller. I actually find the actors were good and solid. The plot is ordinary; they revisited the common places and a bunch of clichés. But there are too many horror movies like this one that are far better. It just don't scar or spook. I passed it forward most of the time, cause the waiting (for nothing) was so boring. I think that the rating is high cause no one wants to watch the movie (other than the producers or directors and actors). When the voting get quorum the rate will drop seriously down. A demanding question's been hanging in my mind for a while now: If I ever made a movie, i would really try to do something that could make me feel proud and i would try really hard to make it impressive and remarkable. Something different, that could be on people's minds for a while. At least i'd try to communicate. Now, what's suppose to be the message in here? is it worth the work and money spent? No, i think that this is not the case. Just commercial cinema (and real bad cinema). Their demanding question is: how can i make easy money? and i think this is the main reason why the actual panorama in cinema is so poor. The inspiration collides with higher values (money).
Cloud Atlas (2012)
Wachowski "Matrix" brothers... really?
I'll start by state a cliché (like those in the movie): This was the most pretentious film I have ever seen. The idea with telling different stories serving a bigger and common purpose (which would form the big picture at the end) is not only overused as it's...I don't know.... (another cliché: boring?) The whole movie reeks of wanna-be intellectualism...and it's so sad that it has to be like that. All of the story lines are really boring...(annoying)like...nothing happens. The idea they're trying to sell is so simple...how could anyone thought that this poor idea could bring a fine and entertaining movie? Like: "everything is connected and your past actions will influence the future". Hum! I've never heard that before. Really? Could that be true? I never thought of that! Please! Put some serious effort on it...we are talking about the 7th art....try, at least, to make artistic, original, beautiful.... This is just another pseudo-intellectual movie...only this one is full with babytalk dialog and really bad makeup!!! Many of the 80's sci-fi movies are better than this one. The characterization is so poorly done. there are some visually stunning scenes; not enough to safe this crap. My final question: " How or why the Wachowski brothers accepted being part of this....I don't even know how to name it....babe movie? There's only one idea in the movie. And it's an overused idea, and very very simple...I'd say ingenuous one.
Larry Crowne (2011)
I really must warn you about this one
What is this crap? I was in to watch a good romantic comedy...well: Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts together? this has to be great! (my bad). I can't understand why such good actors accepted being part of this. Could have been the mistake that irreversibly compromises a whole career. It's an empty movie, with the pace all wrong. Empty plot. No script. No music. No suspense. A few laughs (very few). There's not much to say, cause nothing happens in the movie. It's far more interesting to watch an episode of "the Osbournes" or something like that. The highs: Julia Roberts is one of the most beautiful woman on earth. Tom Hanks is Tom Hanks. I'd take a chance on any movie that he's in. That said, nothing more to add. I felt like i wasted my cinema night-time and now it's too late to watch a movie (cause this was something I can't name, but not a movie). I should have trust my guts...for some reason i was keeping this one behind.... ham! one more thing: The girl divorced her husband on the basis that he watches porn on the internet. Can you believe it? a man watching porn on the internet? is that even possible? Never heard that before. He ought to be a retarded or a mentally stressed man, or maybe a sex maniac!!! A man watching porn on the internet...go figure!!!!! to jail with such a demon! Free tip of the day for young couples: If you want your marriage to last long don't watch porn. It's also bad to your health and can cause you acne and mental illness!!!!!!
Total Recall (2012)
Are the Scriptwriters on strike again?
What is going on? Are the scriptwriters on strike again? There are no good and new ideas to make movie films? Well, I got some of my own, that should result in very good movies. At least better than this crap. Feel free to contact me! Why do they keep on re-doing sci-fi cinema masterpieces? like superman, spider-man, total recall? for god sake, you can't make any better than it's predecessors. So, why bother? doesn't make any sense. Making a face-lift of a movie like total recall? It's just stupid! It's like those covers of music hits that don't add nothing new; only makes us feel that the originals are really great, and can't definitely be beaten. Creativity is an absolutely fundamental instrument in cinema. We (spectators) are bored with the actual cinema panorama. There's nothing new; no creativity; no good stories to tell...so, let's just jump into the easier way...new actors, old scripts, and let's do it again. I don't get it. This is not art; and cinema should be art (seventh art?). Art don't copy. Art is original. This is no art. This is crap. And copycat.
The Cabin in the Woods (2012)
I hated it, but I can totally understand why people would stay in the theater and find it good!
If you want original plots, watch "triangle" or "the caller". Very good movies. This is just boring; adds nothing new. If you've already seen "the hunger games" - which i also didn't appreciate - or many others sci-fi class b movies, you will find this one boring and absolutely unoriginal. In fact when I realized what was really going on, i couldn't care less about the destiny of the characters. It's absolutely ridiculous and no tense at all.If you're one of those who find this movie funny...either you're 10 years old or you have brain damage! There's nothing funny - And I enjoy comedy a lot. Good comedy: not "hangover" type though. "Shaun of the dead", for instance...."evil dead" another good one. "Tucker & dale vs evil" or Peter Jackson's "braindead" - this are great! Don't waste your precious time on this one. Absolutely Ludicrous!!! p.s. - Can you believe that they kept ghosts held in a compartment room? unf...believable!
Enter the Void (2009)
This movie sucks big time! nothing new.Boring most the time, except for the love(sex) scenes, which were not that great in fact! Gaspar Noé did a really good job in irreversible. This one ad nothing new. The back from the beginning film shooting didn't work as well as it should. I got a little sick by the way he used the camera, always shaking and moving everywhere (yes! i get the idea...it was the soul floating one point to the other...boring! just boring!). I had to pass it fast forward most times. Unbearable. A not to remember trip. Nothing happens is this story. It goes nowhere. And the end...way to predictable! I shouldn't have wasted my time watching this ridiculous excuse for a movie
Attack the Block (2011)
good acting, boring movie!
This movie isn't good; not even close to "shaun of the dead" or "tucker and dale vs devil". No way. It's just too boring. Nothing funny or scary really happens. The plot is empty and way too predictable. The kids are good actors, but there's just nothing to act! I fall asleep during the movie...3 or 4 times. And i guarantee...that almost never occurs. To the ones that enjoys horror/comedies movies: don't wast your time watching this; and specially don't invite your friends to your house to see this movie, even with the excuse to show them your brilliant home cinema system. Did you ever see the 80's Peter Jackson's movie Braindead? Now that's what I'm talking about. That's entertainment. This movie simply don't entertain.
