Jodie Foster Save The Day and The Movie!
After walking out of Flightplan last night, the general consensus of the crowd was that it was a pretty good movie, and I thought the same. It wasn't until I got home and started thinking about the movie that I realized what happened. I began to remember all of the flaws of the film and realized that Jodie Foster had made me forget them all.
Flightplan has a great premise. We have a traumatized mother who is taking her daughter with her to New York after a bad spell in Berlin. While on the flight, her daughter is lost, but the crew has no record of her and, the mother goes on a frantic rescue mission to find her daughter. This makes for a great formula, but the one thing that messes it all up is timing issues. There are a few twists that would work very well, but the timing of them is so poor and ridiculous that tend to not make any sense. There is also a part of the story that is never fully explained, and at times the film is down right silly.
But then, however, there is Jodie Foster. With all of the flaws in this film, the audience can't help but keep their attention on her amazing performance. Her character is powerful, gutsy, and full of determination, and she masks all of the problems of the film. If Foster was not in the lead giving the performance she gives, the flaws of the film would fly of the screen, and it would have been garbage. That, however, is not what we get. We get a flawed film that could have been better, but still with an awesome lead performance. Kudos to Ms. Foster for saving the day and the movie!
An Age Old Classic that Never Dies!!!
OMG!!! This film is truly a masterpiece! The scenes are priceless in every form of the word. It amazes me that this film was never up for any major award such as an Oscar or Golden Globe, because it is just phenomenal. To this day, I have never laughed more at a single film. Also, it never gets old for me. It is quite hard to choose a favorite scene, since they are all so ingenious. I truly applaud all of the actors in the film, because their knack for comedy is simply unmatched. Some people I know don't seem to understand Monty Python. I think it's a kind of humor that is difficult for "normal" people to understand. But for us MP lovers, we know it and we don't care if any thinks we are losers. If anyone here loves this film like me, be sure to watch Monty Python's Flying Circus on BBC America. It is HYSTERICAL!
