Were we watching the same movie?, 6 May 2005

This was undoubtedly one of the worst movies I have ever seen. And yes... I did "get it." And I read the other reviews. First, I disagree that the superb acting made it believable. (I normally love Nicole and thought she did a good job of acting.) But even she could not bring believability to the plot. There is no way anyone would have given credence to the boy in the beginning. They would have thrown him out as a crackpot and not even listened to him. He did not even begin to "share" any of his "knowledge" at first, yet she was already beginning to believe him. And regardless of how much she believed him, I don't know a woman around (and that includes several close friends whose husbands have died that were dearly in love with them) that would have let a young boy in the bathtub with them even if they thought he might be their dearly departed husband. It was unbelievable and disgusting. No amount of cinematography, emotional tension, etc., justify this or make it worthy of watching. My wife, who is a devoted Nicole fan, walked out midway. Don't waste your money on this one.

"L.A. Law" (1986)

Help speed the release on DVD, 9 January 2005

This is one of the best TV Shows ever created. Besides quality acting by some great actors, the writing was superb. The dialog is tight, witty, and provocative. The later years were not as tight or entertaining as some years... (you might read that in numerous reviews) but it was still better than anything on TV even with the sub-par writing near the end.

For those waiting it on DVD as much as me, you can look it up on AMazon (under L.A. Law) and enter your email for information on when it will be available. THIS IS IMPORTANT, not so you can get the info, but because Amazon sends the number on the waiting list to the studios, so your request for info becomes a vote to release it on DVD.
