The Legend of Tarzan (2016)
This version is terrible! Minor spoiler.
This movie is terrible and I wish I had never bought it. There is absolutely nothing redeeming about this version. The story is shallow and predictable. The dialogue is awful. Jane is as 2-dimensional as a character can be. The cinematography is fake. The movie was filed in a studio in England and they attempted to "back drop" Africa into it. But it looks awful; meaning the green screen work is so bad. I've seen better work in cable TV. The CG work is pathetic. The scene with the animals trampling the army village near the end looks like little computer generated rabbits. The proportions don't work. And then there is Samuel Jackson. What a terrible casting job. He's old (yeah, I get it, can't say that, but its true), yet he's supposed to be keeping up with Tarzan running through the jungle. It doesn't work. It's not realistic. It looks fake. He looks like he should be in a wheel chair. Combined that with some angles where he's running on air because the green screen doesn't match. What an absolute pathetic attempt. They claim it took 3 months to file. I think maybe 3 days. Save yourself the 2 hours and take a nap instead of watching this tripe. Blah!
The Goldbergs: Breakfast Club (2016)
This show may have jumped the shark - SPOILERS
I typically like this show, but Episode #4.1 was not good at all; it was a steamy pile of "not funny". I didn't laugh once. I don't understand how this episode has currently been rated a 7.8 (but of course that is currently only 45 users). I expect the rating to go down. This show is at its best when it includes the 80's as a quasi-character, but still makes the show relatable. This show is at its worst when it does nothing more than copy an 80s show and try to win ratings by nostalgia. That is the case with Episode #4.1. This episode didn't even try to be original, but copied the movie "The Breakfast Club" from start to finish, even including the Saturday morning detention dance, soundtrack, and crawling through air ducts. There was nothing original. This wasn't a playful homage to the original movie. This was a complete ripoff that added nothing new. Dwight Schrute once said, "People underestimate the power of nostalgia." He was wrong; as evidenced by the fact that his spin-off show "The Farm" didn't get a green light. If "The Goldbergs" intends to rely only on nostalgia, then this will be the last season, and if this is all the writers can come up with, then its time to send this series to the garbage dump.
Zoolander 2 (2016)
Don't believe the poor reviews, this movie is very funny!
The movie isn't perfect, but it is very funny. Don't believe the reviews with poor ratings. I give it a solid 8.
The reality is that we currently live in a world of political correctness. This movie is anti-PC. The reviews giving this movie poor ratings are done by people who are easily offended. They don't want to be offended. In fact, even if there is a funny joke, they refuse to laugh. They want to silence what they don't like.
This movie has jokes about fat kids, ugly people, and transgenders. Yes, that's right, jokes about transgenders. Can you imagine? Oh, the horrors!! So there is a backlash by the PC crowd that thinks certain jokes are off-limits. Nonsense! This movie is very funny.
There are also jokes about plastic surgery, beautiful people, models (yeah, a lot of those), ego-maniacs, and fashion designers. There are even jokes about pretentious people who love their orange mocha frappuccinos and foamy lattes.
Don't be influenced by these bad reviews. Go see this movie.
