Love and science create epic awesomeness and Olivia saves the world!
This show is one of my all time favorites. I'd say all time favorite but I watch too much T.V. and I could never chose just one series. It does however have two of the best characters ever written, beautiful acting and chemistry to make me care about made up people's lives more than what is normal.
Olivia Dunham is my favorite female television character ever. Therefor, Anna Torv will always have my love. All the actors do. They play not only one but two and even three different versions of their characters. Some do it in a drastic but well acted way and some do it with such subtlety that you have to be invested in these characters to fully understand it. Walter is epic and John Noble deserves endless praise for his acting. It's what legends are made of. It you like legends about people pretending to be someone else. I am not a completely crazy person. I am a bartender with no kids and a love for marijuana, I am not exactly motivated.
I wish when I was 14 or 15 I had a role model like Olivia to look up to. I had just gotten Buffy but she was shallow and ditsy at first. I still love her! J.J. Ahbrams is awesome for the strong female characters he has given us. My two favorites being Sidney Bristow from Alias and obviously Olivia from Fringe.
This show is worth watching for the relationships and acting if nothing else. The terrifying science that is or could be something real is awesome. How Science may destroy the world, or save it, or destroy it but then save it or something like along those lines or more lines or lines we shouldn't cross. It makes you think. It makes you question your own ideas. What would I do? What would I be willing to do to save someone I love. A lot of the episodes between or during the main arc are about love in some way. The mad scientist is so in love he can't let go. It's also about letting go.
I just recently rewatched the series a second time through but without long summer breaks. I always loved the show, I own every season, but watching it a second time through without expectation made me love it more. It is a shame that they didn't get to go the full length they planned. I just know it would have been brilliant had they worked out the kinks and lead into it with more time. I strongly urge people that might have been too disappointed to appreciate the last season to watch it over. We know we got screwed but we know it's gone and all we can do it appreciate what we do have. I can picture all the ways they could have taken it. I feel cheated by Fox for moving it to Fridays and giving it a death sentence. I feel angry at other reviewer that say anything against the acting.
I loved this show because I cared about these characters. If the acting was bad I wouldn't care about them. I know bad acting. Anna Torv for one thing has an Accent which I think she covers well. The first few episodes were shaky but once she found her direction and what she wanted Olivia to say she was amazing. The differences between her other Olivia's are awesome. The way she even acts new time line Olivia is different. I love and miss this show. I hope all the actors do well. Anna Torv should be told she's pretty and amazing everyday. Her Agent should write a book on what a failure he is. How he put something beautiful under a rock and tried to make people forget how terrible he is for not sharing it with the world. I am done. Totally worth watching this show more than reading this review.
