The Signal (2014)
NIce one, 18 September 2014
8/10

Greetings from Lithuania.

The Signal (2014) is nice little "mindbending" type movie. It has some good visuals, kinda interesting story if you are in the mood, and nice ending, which is also kinda visionary. the acting was OK, nothing special. And i can't go into details of this movie and not spoiling it, so i will stop here.

Overall, i'm giving it 8/10 because it's kinda involving movie, it's made on a small budget and on the same time it has some good visuals, very nice directing (timing), OK acting and it's interesting till the end to simply see what the hell is going on.

Great, intense picture, 17 September 2014

"Raging Bull" (1980) is a very good picture, great one (like you haven't heard about it yet). It contains superb performances by all involved, and especially by the great Robert De Nido in a lifetime performance. It's gritty, ugly, true and very intense picture, with a great director in his best form - every scene in this picture pulse on tension. Boxing scenes are very disturbing, they are short, and very brutal - although this picture is filmed in black and white, it's look stunning.

Overall, a true gem, called by many the best picture of the 80's. I don't think it's that good, and there are many pictures that i would call equally great, but this one is not to be mist my a true movie lovers.

Beautiful movie, 9 September 2014

"The Fault in Our Stars" (2014) is simply beautiful picture. Great acting by all involved, and especially by my favorite star of recent years Shailene Woodley this is an involving picture from start till finish. I didn't found it very predictable, sure, if you are watching a lot pictures, you will now where it's coming, but still i was captivated from start till finish. On it's core this is a romantic picture, with unusual characters. This picture is not about cancer either, it's about embracing your life in every step, no mater what - this is i think is a point of this movie.

Overall, flavorless acting especially by both leads (and another standout performance by Shailene Woodley), nice script, refreshing love story and nice drama - this picture is simply a joy to watch, and yes, don't forget to have some handkerchiefs - you will need them, 9/10.

Very solid flick, 7 September 2014
8/10

Greetings from Lithuania.

"The Rover" (2014) is a very solid flick, set in a post apocalyptic setting. It's not so post apocalyptic as we saw in "The Road" - the humanity still exist, even money still valid, only hope has gone. It's bleak, brutal world. The settings are OK, nothing special, nothing futuristic. The standout are the performances, and they both are superb by both leads, especially by Robert Pattinson, ye you heard that right, apparently he can act, and he does it very solidly in this tale.

Overall, if are looking for some brutally real post apocalyptic picture, you came in to the right place, because "The Rover" delivers. 8/10.

Definitely good picture, 6 September 2014

"A Million Ways to Die in the West" (2014) is a really fun film. Comedy / spoof of 60's westerns works here. Acting was OK, cinematography was very solid, music is good, and jokes were good as well (sadly, not all). It's not the "best comedy ever type" of a film, but it's a solid one. Actually acting by Giovanni Ribisi and Neil Patrick Harris were a standouts, and Giovanni Ribisi's story in this picture was the most funny.

Overall, to enjoy this picture you have to relax, and enjoy the ride. It's not the most original one, but for one evening it definitely does it's job.

A fun eye candy, 3 September 2014
8/10

Greetings from Lithuania.

"Far and Away" (1992) is beautifully looking, nice acted good directed and very poorly written adventure flick (that pretends to be an epic). Set in historical surrounding, shoot beautifully it has the scope, the heart, but unfortunately it falls short in writing - dialogs are poor, forced, not realistic at all and full of coincidences. It has a story, but it doesn't have guts to show it seriously - "Far and Away" is simply an eye candy.

Stil, if you want to look at gorgeous N.Kidman, some beautiful shoots, good directing by a great R.Howard and a really interesting (not without a lots of clichés of course)ending, this adventure (and some romance, largely because of the chemistry between the leads) flick is for you - just don't take it to seriously, it's pure fun. 8/10.

10/10 when i was ten years old. At 28 it doesn't look that cool anymore, 1 September 2014

Greetings from Lithuania.

Recently i had an opportunity to rewatch one if not the most watched film of my childhood "Rambo: First Blood Part II" - ye, there were no limitations to watch these R rated flicks back then (not that there are many limitations to do it now). I re watched it on 2m x 2m screen, with sound system and all that stuff, and you know, it's not that cool anymore. I know it sounds kinda stupid. This picture was one of my favorite (probably the favorite) when i was 10- 12 years old. Whats not to like! A absolutely calm, cool, muscular Sylvester Stallone at his very best (not as good as Rocky although) in a superb shoot em up flick, with some macho one liners, revenge, simple love and lots, tons of action action action - it's was a blast so say the least.

At 28 years, i can safely say, "Rambo: First Blood Part II" aged already a lot. There are action flicks, that you can still safely watch 20 - 30 after they release, like Speed, Die Hard, Predator - they are timeless. "Rambo: First Blood Part II" sadly isn't one of them. It was cool to simply remember the old scenes, words, moves and etc. but sadly it's look and most important feels very old, it's absolutely unrealistic, which kinda threw the suspense and all coolines down - the reason why "Speed" still works as hell is that it's absolutely realistic and suspenseful with great acting all the way long, and Rambo II is not acted very well, it's a macho 80's kinda stuff slick, that sadly does not clicks like it use to be.

Overall, because you have all probably have seen this click, i will give it 10/10, just because of the memories, it forever will be one of those flicks "that i used to watch when i was a kid".

This is a one fuxxed up movie, 1 September 2014

Greetings from Lithuania.

Strange or not, i really enjoyed the first "A Haunted House" movie, it was real funny stuff. Sandly, the second one is a huge disappointment comparing to a first one. The script is so poor and unfunny, that you can think that this was written in two days, it'a nearly awful, what a shame. I know it's a parody and has to be stupid, but it has to be fun and stupid, there are great parodies, but this one is a very poor, unfunny mess. They couldn't even make fun out of one of my favorite horror movies in years "Sinister" - everything in "A Haunted House 2" is lame, unfunny (except for one Mexican stereotype joke), horribly acted and simply stupid beyond recognition and fun.

Overall, even if you are hardcore parodies fan, you can safely skip this one, it's a bad one.

Mesmerazing acting by both leads in very good, honest picture, 31 August 2014

Greetings from Lithuania.

"The Spectacular Now" (2013) is superb movie, wonderfully acted by both leads (i can not even call it acting, they simply were there). Shailene Woodley is simply my favorite lady in Hollywood right now, she's so natural, it's not an acting, it's just like she is in there. Never i saw an actress that would be so natural in a movie. She's the only person i would definitely would love to meet one day from all stars.

Now, back to film, it's a very solid drama, coming of age story. The story is not the thing you should look up to in this film, it's just real life tale. But it's so honest, that you will definitely love it if you feel tired from all stereotypical characters, subplots and actions. Overall, a superb movie. 10/10.

Neighbors (2014/I)

Nice comedy, 28 August 2014
8/10

Greetings from Lithuania.

"Neighbors"(2014) is a fun, rude comedy. Don't expect a lot, you surely will be entertained. Acting was nice from all involved, jokes were fun, 40% of them anyway (with two jokes, involving part of a car were extremely hilarious) and the other part was just fun. It's sometimes vulgar - but it's a R rated comedy for god sake, and many liked a lot - 150$ millions at the box office confirms it. But if you compare it lets say "21 Jump Street", "21 Jump Street" was funnier (haven't see the sequel yet).

Overall, 8/10 for this flick, it's a fun time to spend 1:30 h. in the boring evening.
