Out of Practice (2005–2006)
8/10
Great Modern Sitcom
21 June 2013
I was so happy when I first discovered Out of Practice. Finally, a good classic sitcom. I wasn't disappointed either. I watched the entire season in three days. It has some great old-school humor mixed in with some more modern concepts and family dynamics. The actors were perfectly cast in their roles. Stockard Channing and Henry Winkler play off each other extremely well, Christopher Gorham and Ty Burrell have great comedic timing together and Paula Marshall brings something fresh and inviting to the show.

Overall, if you're looking for something nostalgic and comical, this show is it. It was definitely over too soon.

Man of Steel (2013)

Best Superman Yet
17 June 2013
Warning: Spoilers
This is definitely the best Superman movie to date, and not just because they could afford better effects. Everyone was perfectly cast and Zach Snyder really succeeded in creating a character all his own while remaining true to the essence of Superman. The darker tones to Man of Steel create a more realistic and appealing character.

The movie started off a little slow and textbook-ish. I know that the writers had to provide some back-story for those who are unfamiliar with the world of Superman, but as someone who already knew the story, I was impatiently waiting for some excitement.I did love the flashbacks throughout though. They really helped the audience understand Superman and the decisions he makes.

The second half of the movie had some amazing fight scenes. The choreography was clever and the camera angles were unique. I couldn't tear my eyes away from the screen.

There were a lot of references to other Superman movies and plot lines that definitely pleased true Superman fans: the Wayne Enterprises satellite, the LexCorp truck, the use of actors from previous versions of the Superman story, etc.

Overall, I think this was an amazing movie. If you liked Dark Knight or have ever enjoyed a Superman film, then I recommend Man of Steel. It won't disappoint.

A Wonderful Retelling of a Classic Story
13 June 2013
This is, by far, one of the best shows on television. It's fast-paced, witty, and full of suspense. Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch are fantastically cast and the story lines are thrilling and unusual. The creators of Sherlock successfully combine the classic elements of Sherlock Holmes with the modern world. It's unique and incredibly well written. Visually, this show is gritty and dark. It fits well with the mood of the show and successfully transports these modern characters back into a world of mystery. I'm not usually a fan of British television but Sherlock is fresh and charming. It's a must see for everyone.

Answer This! (2011)

A Must See
11 June 2013
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is definitely a must see. The script is phenomenal! While it has its goofy run-of-the-mill college movie moments, the underlying plot of "greatness is trivial" is beautifully played out. Christopher Gorham was the perfect choice for this film. He is such a strong actor and he really owns this role. You can't help but love him. The movie also has its moments of romance but it isn't what you would expect. This is not a happily ever after type of movie. It's real. It's what real people experience and what real people want to see. You don't leave this movie blissfully happy and loving life. You leave this movie contemplating. Answer This! is a movie that makes you think. It makes you question. I believe there is no better movie than one that inspires you. This is one of those movies. It's hilarious, romantic, thoughtful, and emotional. The comedic relief is well done and the supporting characters provide someone for everyone to relate to. I love this movie and will definitely be recommending it to others.

Sadly Disappointed
11 June 2013
Warning: Spoilers
I appreciate what they were trying to do here. I really do. Overall, I enjoyed the concept. It was a movie that was really trying to break the mold. It was trying to be something different. Well unfortunately, the execution failed. Sympathy for Delicious was just uncomfortable. The script was rough and what it lacked in content, it made up for in foul language. Can't think of something deep to say? Curse word. The ending was nice. It was emotional. The work that it took to get to that great ending though just wasn't worth it. I was disappointed. If you're looking for something unusual and a little intense, this is it. Otherwise, I don't recommend it.

Cheesy but Wonderful
11 June 2013
Warning: Spoilers
As incredibly cheesy as this show is...I love it. I am absolutely in love with this show. The effects are pretty awful and vampires have been done a thousand times over but this show is fantastic. Alex O'Loughlin excels at everything he does. He plays the part perfectly. This show really brings something new to the table. It's different from any other vampire show I've seen. It isn't all about the romance or the violence. It's about the struggle of the vampire himself. It's about him trying to live in a world that he is no longer really a part of. The detective work brings a whole new dimension to the show which in turn brings a whole new audience.

Moonlight was definitely cut too soon.

One of the better crime shows on television
7 June 2013
Warning: Spoilers
The standout of this show is definitely Patrick Jane. The character is perfectly flawed and extremely intriguing. While the "psychic cop" storyline has been done many times before, the writers manage to bring a whole new spin to it.

The supporting characters are fairly well played although I do wish that the relationships between characters were fleshed out a little bit more.

I love that while there is a "villian of the week" storyline to keep it fresh and entertaining, there is also always a connection to Red John and a reminder as to why Patrick Jane is doing this in the first place.

If you're going to watch a crime show then this is definitely the one I would recommend.

Covert Affairs (2010–2014)

Absolutely one of the best shows on television
6 June 2013
Warning: Spoilers
I am absolutely IN LOVE with Covert Affairs. It's one of those shows that you just can't take your eyes off of. This show has something for everyone. It has romance, action, explosions, and some of the most beautiful shoes a girl has ever seen. The character relationships are flawed and outstanding. Every actor carries their weight and really adds to the depth of the show. The ever-evolving relationship between Annie and Auggie always keeps you wanting more. It helps that neither of them is bad on the eyes. In fact, none of the actors are. The sets are gorgeous and the filming style is perfect. The one and only critique I have for this show is that it tends to lean the story more towards the day by day "villian of the week" plot and less towards the evolving relationships between characters. Season 3 showed that they are improving though. The balance is shifting. I can't wait to see what's in store in Season 4.
