The Recruit (2022– )

Great

Binge watched all of the episodes at once. Thrilling entertaining enjoyable. Although a bit far fetched it's fast moving and no unnecessary dialogue or extra scenes that don't add content. Action thriller and well worth the watch, acting is good and the background adds to the show themes. Hopefully it will be renewed for several more seasons. The actors are well blended in and each has a specific role that is not boring or filled with dialogue that adds no meaning to the show.

I won't add any spoilers here as there are too many to outline.

Watch it you won't be disappointed if you are a fan of mystery/thriller/spy stuff.

Judge Dee's Mystery (2024– )

Lost interest very quickly

I was hooked on this drama by the trailer but soon found out that it's long and lengthy and takes a while to get to the point. Lots of unnecessary talking and scenes that are not related to the plot. The acting is good and the set is great colorful and set in the imperial court at that time.

However, the martial arts that was so overwhelming at the beginning faded away completely as the episodes rolled on. Which was too bad as it would have impacted the show positively among all the irrelevant script and scenes that added no meaning to the story.

A martial arts detective in China would be less talking and plot changes and more action.

Allegiance (2024– )

Not Impressed - Don't waste your time.

I was so looking forward to this show, Set in Canada female lead and a police drama. But it ends there, no direction to the themes in this show. Starts with a huge issue at the beginning and after that no clear path towards solving this problem. The daughter is an officer but the show revolves around very sub-par stories that the writhers seem to make up on the set.

This is not edge of seat excitement it's rather boring and very uneventful. Very poor acting from the supporting actors, especially, Crystal Balint and. David Cubitt it's so bad that they seem to be forcing their lines on to the screen.

And the use of technology is a bit over the top, for those of us who know how tech works it's not like in the show.

Warrior (2019–2023)

Worth it

If you are a Martial Arts fan then it's worth a watch. Lots of fight scenes and blood almost every 5 mins but certainly a moving and fast paced show. Not sure how much of the theme - racist treatment of Chines immigrants is true but I do think that some of it is believable. Somehow though the theme and plot of the show doesn't quite mix with the porn that scattered frequently throughout the show. Definitely not a show for younger audiences but makes you think if the world at that time 1878 was really lawless and violent as this show portrays. The script is wellw ritthen and the acting very good especially the fights scenes so if you don't mind the "porn scenes" you will enjoy this series.

The Brothers Sun (2024)

Not so great

Started watching this show expecting good writing, acting and flow of events as Michelle Yeoh was one of the actress. However, i was disappointed very quickly. The process of assassin and comedy didn't work as the comedy was totally off target. Some good fighting scenes but other that that it is a failure. It's a pity that such a great actress has stooped to such a low budget low script type of show. Here talents can be used elsewhere. I am sure assassin and comedy can mix but this show failed to do so lame jokes and stupid comments helps to bring down the rating of this show. For those that liked this show may have a different view of comedy that i do.

Fool Me Once (2024)

Interesting with lots of plot questions

I did watch this series despite of the bad negative reviews. I haven't read any of the authors books so can't comment on the adaptation. But the show is interesting until the viewer figures it out. In the beginning it is easy as the camera can be hacked and that's what happened. Why the lead actress was targeted is a silly excuse. If her colleagues were under fire or under attack from an approacj=hing car and she was under orders to stay put. And she decided to take action and fire at the approaching car. Why not just fire at the road damage the road sufficiently to stop the car from approaching. Win-win situation for all. But I guess writers don't use common sense logic when adapting.

The show has several sub plots sometimes a bit unnecessary and i found myself FFWD through some of it. Howerve, I did watch the entire series.

Yugoeui Nal (2023– )

Had potential

The story had some mystery, comedy and some entertaining comradery, but lost it in the foolishness and immatureness of the lead actor. I get it that you are trying to impress the grandmothers of Korea but a least have some realistic concepts to the show. It's a great story of murder, kidnapping and resolve but along the way the silly scenes and unnecessary crying and shouting doesn't fit well with the theme. And this idea of starting 30years ago and then jumping ahead without any connection until the 6th episode is getting old.

Spoiler: Some really stupid scenes where the lead actor is stabbed and bleeding he manages to overcome the bad guy, but while injured decides to take the girl out of the car and walk across a bridge and collapse very illogical. Why not take the car leave the bad guy on the ground and get yourself to a hospital.

Next the police is pointing a gun at the bad guy but instead of shooting even to stop him, he doesn't and lets the bad guy take the gun from him. In what country is that a practiced law method?

For the Korean directors try to add some realistic logical reasoning to the shows so that it's a bit believable.

Intelligent viewers do watch these dramas not only the grandmothers of Korea.

Riding A Unicorn (2022– )

After School drama

This is one of those happy cheery drama where every issue problem is handled with a very bright smile and words of wisdom. While I haven't watched many Japanese drama the over the top niceness is overbearing. While every company has it's ups and down in the corporate world it's overcoming these hurdles with a smile and thank you is not reality. The lead actress smiling and happy after each scene is a bit much. As well the disconnect between the children and their parents is a bit unbelievable. Way too much happiness and the ease of finding solutions to problems in the company makes it a very unrealistic show. This drama is mainly for kids as they attempt to show that life is easy if you smile a lot.

My Mister (2018)

Has some flaws

Most of the reviews have rated his show very high and some reviewed as the best show ever, well not so fast.

While the acting is great the script has some minor flaws that makes the show a bit unrealistic.

First the lead actress is absolutely intriguing, interesting, and captivating. Lee Ji-un is truly wonderful in her role in this show.

Can't really think of why reviewers would be crying after each episode as it's a drama that follows life as it happens. It's not the usual drama in which there is one female lead and two male leads vying for her attention and as in many dramas the richest guy wins the girl.

It's more of office politics with home issues that are typically real and must be dealt with. Such as unfaithful spouse, office bribing and living on the edge of poverty.

Bit overdone is the drinking scenes the always eating scenes the pity scenes with the aspiring actress the ever complaining brothers that contribute nothing to the plot of the show.

Writers could have made the show just as interesting without so much of these unnecessary scenes. If you watch this show there is no need to cry but be prepared for unnecessary boring repeated scenes.

Reason why i watched this show despite of the many flaws is simple because of the lead actress - appealing, fascinating and charming that she is.

Revenge of Others (2022– )

Lots of missing pieces

So i am about 3/4 of the way through this series and although it has some mystery drama and intrigue it's missing a lot of finishing touches. The acting is good some good fight scenes and not so realistic scenes.

Spoiler Alert: Although high school can be a very high stress atmosphere there is also a measure of sanity and expectations while in high school.

The annoying rich girl who hires a crew to beat up others fighting in the hallway where no one interrupts are way out of the norm. Teachers are trained to handle such issues and ensure that they don't become problems. This is giving current high schoolers a license for bad and illegal behaviour by showing this type of behaviour/attitude.

As for the script itself just one example; The male lead has his bike stolen finds it on the Internet for sale by the thieves and comes across the female lead buying the bike. They then find the thieves trying to steal the bike again the thieves run away and that's the end of this plot. The male lead then borrows the coach's bike and uses that throughout the series. In what world is that possible?

Script writers: the normal course of action is to report it to the police and have the thieves arrested.. Not borrow someone's bike for your personal errands.

Agency (2023)

Rather odd portrait of an ad agency

As I write this review I haven't as yet finished the series with a few more episodes to go I really think that this series paints a rather unflattering picture of an ad agency. Yes while there are back stabbers and corporate spies in this world all is not as bleak as this series seems to indicate.

Acting is good but the script is obviously not from someone who has worked in the corporate world.

The lead actress got her promotion and yet still clamors to be vindictive and non-cooperative with her peers. Bullys her co workers and makes every attempt to be non-social in a society that thrives on a collective society.

Good choice in not having her link up with a romance just for ratings. Too many Korean dramas seems to think that when male meets female that a romance must be quickly developed. Not so in the real world.

Spoiler: What's with the mother-in-law and the husband of the supporting actress they totally don't support here even though she has a career and makes money. As well that definitely annoying child that wants his mother to quick work and stay at home. What's with the temper tantrum so unlike Korean kids.

Lots of stuff as not realistic in this drama and i guess that's because the script crew have no idea of how the corporate world works.

Not one of the best dramas.

Ming Mauseu (2022)

Very over rated

Story had some interest at the beginning but lost it in the middle episodes as it attempts to paint a portrait of the jail system as corrupt and while it may be so the scenes are too overdone and sometimes silly.

While many of the reviews are rating the lead actor instead of the actual show. While the lead actor is very good with his acting skills the female lead is also top grade. Too many Korean dramas have the female lead in the background unable to voice an opinion but this drama is different as the female lead actually gets involved in the decisions.

However the jail scenes are way too long and sometimes boring as the show attempts to prolong the series by these unnecessary episodes.

Not really a mystery but it could have been withteh great start.

One Dollar Lawyer (2022)

Not that great - very unreal

I am about half way through this show and it's not very good from a script perspective. The actors are wonderful great chemistry on screen but the scenes are way too silly and idiotic to be a "lawyer type show".

Spoiler alert: There is no court drama except for the first encounter between the male/female actors. After that it's just a set of stupid pranks that are setup to avenge the wronged party in each case not my judge or jury but by the male lead.

It would have been much better to actually use realistic scenarios and have the "one dollar team" try to win for the lesser people in society.

Watch it if you are into silly scenarios that are truly unrealistic. But if you are expecting logical and sensible dialogue then you will be disappointed.

Operation Mayfair (2023)

Really Bad

This movie is so bad that it would take a long time to write out just all of the flaws in this movie. Not just the acting in this movie is poor but the script writing is atrocious.

Spoiler alert: magine a police team tasked with finding a serial killer that is on a budget working out of a room and.being tasked with a major crime case and being told that they don't have resources. Next any basic clues or facts are debated on whether to pursue or not, ex; the Alexa machine As well as the minister threats to close the investigation. The editing is really awful moving from one scene to the other that is not related happens quite a few times.

Perhaps they should have consulted real detectives to figure out the method of operation or even watch a few movies to understand how the operation is handled within a crime squad. Absolutely terrible movie don't watch or waste your time.

May It Please the Court (2022)

Ok with some flaws

Finished watching all episodes and while there are some mystery and suspense there are some logical flaws in the series. Acting between the two actors in the lead is good some of the story line leads you to think that it may be a rom-drama but nothing happens. Lots of characters introduced that led to a bit of confusion at first but as usual with Korean drama. When an explanation is required for the viewers none is given and thus you have to wait until final episodes to get clarification.

Spoiler: Why did the lead actress get fired from the company and sent to another office and above all she doesn't flinch but just accepts it. Why introduce the shop keepeer (old lady) without explaining who or what her role is. Perhaps most of this is lost in translation but some explanation along the way will help viewers a lot more to understand.

Taxi Driver (2021– )

Worth watching

This series centers around a taxi driver exacting revenge on "criminals" that escape the law. Although what they do is as much illegal as the criminals themselves. They are supposed to be helping people that are mis treated or somehow not being helped by the law.

Spoiler: the old lady that lost her savings. Although I have only watched 1st year there are some scenes that are too far fetched.

Episode 8 where he gets beaten by a baseball bat for several minutes but manages to untie himself and come out swinging to fight a platoon of bad guys and win - WOW. Then there is the unnecessary crying by the female actress on and on and on. OK we get it her issue is unfortunate but get on with it and take revenge. Even after she gets revenge she is still crying.

The acting is great and the chemistry between the taxi driver and the female prosecutor is fantastic.

I will watch series 2 but be a little realistic in some of the scenes.

The English (2022)

OK drama with lots unexplained

Watched this drama as it was supposed to have potential but somewhere around 4th episode it got very confusing. Good acting good recreation scene but a lot of unnecessary dialogue. Makes me think that it was written by UK writers. Lots of words to fill up the script that should have been removed.

Lots of attempt at recreating history but falls way short in explanation.

Spoiler: Some plots leaves the viewer puzzled, such as the scenes where the scientist was killed ---WHY? How did Emily end up at the Ms. Boggs farm? And what is here family heritage? Who carried that much cash around and what was the purpose of having the cash shot?

It's worth a watch but don't expect too much and you will be fine.

C.B. Strike (2017– )

Mystery thriller realistic

Another show i happen to chance upon and it's worth watching if you are a fan of mystery, cop/detective and realistic scenes. Acting is very good script writing is detailed focus on the theme and plot of the drama. It's a must watch for amateur sleuths and those who like a down to earth drama.

Ignore the bad reviews as they are an extreme outlier. This show has a lot of character and it's sort of a modern day Colombo.

Only watched the first series thus far but i can only guess that the remaining series are just as exciting and thrilling for the viewers. Lets hope that they keep producing more series and stick to the clean, intriguing script that outlines this series.

The Old Man (2022– )

Had potential

Another spy CIA thriller that fizzled out early on in the series. So a story about USA, Russians and Afghanistan all wound together.

Spoiler: But the script goes all over the place without explaining the reason or what's supposed to be happening. Someone is chasing a retired agent and the audience is aware of why until almost at the end of the show. He kidnaps his landlord and she automatically trusts him and believes what he says to be true. Lots of psychological mumbo jumbo that has no relevance to the show. Even at some points in the show itself the characters ask each other "what do you mean?" "What does that have to do with anything?". Lots of dialogue that has no meaning to the show or anything realistic about the show.

Could have been better, it's an ok watch but be patient and fast forward through the useless dialogue.

The Ipcress File (2022)

Spy thriller

If you are a fan of spy mysteries then this is a series for you. Good acting well written script (when you can understand the accent). The show is worth binge watching which is what I did. I wasn't aware of a previous movie but came across this show while drama hunting. Scenes of period dating were very well done and the script is well written. If you were ever curious about the "stiff upper lip" then watch this show and you will know what it is. Very well outlined in this show.

Spoiler: It's a spy thriller in East/west Berlin with Americans and Brits involved. Well worth the watch. I hope that there will be more episodes in the future.

Alaska Daily (2022–2023)

Good watch

With Hilary Swank I thought that it would be a good series but it's much better that good. Acting superb, script realistic, story really badly needed to be told, scenery amazing. Story is being told from the local perspective and enlightens us to how injustice is being served to non-Caucasians, really need to be told and it is in a very straight forward and compelling manner.

Spoiler: Crime against native women are highlighted by a small local newspaper with a go getting team. The acting is good but they work so well together and complement each others' role. Nice to see that not every male lead get his way with the female lead, as Hilary clearly draws the line with work. I hope that this show stick around as it's shaping to be a great family show, but I fear that it has no future. Seems as though tv execs don't renew shows unless the word "coitus" is in every second sentence.

The Family Man (2019– )

India - Jack Ryan with Indian family

Worth it, a must watch show if you like thrillers mysteries and spy stuff. A bit over done with the family scenes, whereas most Indian siblings respect their parents, not quite happening in this show, also a bit too much with the bad words. Some scenes are a bit unrealistic, bad guys shooting a machine gun and the officers run directly towards the firing machine gun. But overall it's a good show. I am sure that there are a lots more "spy plots" in India so the show should be around for a while.

So to the writers lets be a bit more real with the script and hustle up for series 3....x.

Hopefully this show sticks around for a while.

East New York (2022–2023)

Disregard the bad reviews

It's another cop show but this time it has some character and realistic story in the episodes. It's so nice to see a female lead as the commander and how she portrays herself is admirable: respectful, firm and fair. Unlike the other cop show FBI where the female lead is disrespectful, rude and obnoxious in the show but i do think that's her normal characteristics.

This show is worth watching good acting, good script and engaging.

Can't understand why I need to write 600 characters to review a show.

So I will have to repeat myself, good show watch it if you like cops show. Very realistic about the drama police persons face on a daily basis.

Kamathipura (2021– )

So many script issues

This could have been much better if the writers were a bit more realistic.

Spoiler: The police turn to a criminal for information why not go get it themselves. Acting is average only bright spot is the lead actress the others are not that good. Another goof that's glaring. The doctor phones the father of the lead actress and he doesn't remember who the doctor is or why she is calling or what it's about. After several minutes he then remembers who the doctor is. The right after he insists that he doesn't know who the doctor is he admits that he was trying to find that same doctor to get help for his daughter, but couldn't find her number. Major script flaw. This is not worth watching as it has so many flaws and is too unrealistic.

Delhi Crime (2019– )

Just watch it

Supposedly based on real crime in Delhi the show is well acted good script although i think sometimes something is missed is the translation. It's a bit gruesome as some scenes are very well bloodied but the story is ongoing and riveting, it is binge worthy. Also scenery of New Delhi is eye opening.

Suggestion that the writers could tone down the language. No need for the actors to feel tough by swearing.

I hope that they continue this series for a long time. Worth the watch.

Not related to Bollywood movies so it's mystery and drama all along.
