Evil Dead (2013)
It really wasn't that bad
First thing you 1981 Evil Dead fan-boys need to do before watching this is put away your ridiculous check list and stop comparing it to the original. It is not the original. I'm actually going to go far enough to say (for the first time ever) that the remake was better than the original. Yeah the 1981 one was good and made clever use of budget and effects, but I thought the remake was better. Please don't email me saying "blah blah it had a huge budget, Hollywood garbage blah". In this day and age of technology doing all the work, and watching a bunch of computer people act out movies (ahem, avatar), I truly, truly appreciate the excessive use of make up and practical effects. In my book, that gains a lot of points.
Don't Listen To These People
Don't listen to these uptight IMDb users. This movie is great for all ages. Sure the acting isn't the best, but what did you people think you were going to see? "Titanic" but in an RV? Its a good story that a lot of families could relate to. The whole cast is funny. The humor is on the dry side, so I guess it doesn't appeal to a lot of people. The jokes are pretty original/unpredictable (except for the "sewage" scenes of course). I've seen this movie many times, and it always delivers. Many people seem to be taking this movie too seriously. For example: "I thought Robin Williams' family was spoiled and petulant and irritating. Then they had a superior, supercilious attitude toward the other family, who at least liked each other and were kind and helpful. I know we were supposed to think they were hicks and laugh at them, but I simply couldn't." I don't think that person even watched the movie. The bad singing scene always leaves me in tears of laughter. I definitely recommend this film for when you are sad on a late Friday night.
500 MPH Storm (2013)
If you are looking for a gripping action/thriller this is not it. If you are looking for something comical whether its trying to be or not this is it. I watched this movie on Netflix with my family one night, and let me tell you we laughed straight into the next morning. This movie is so over the top, poorly written, poorly edited, and poorly acted in that your gut reaction will be to laugh. What makes it all the more funnier is that you can tell the staff and cast intended for this to be an intense blockbuster.
I seriously recommend this movie as a comedy not a thriller. you will not be disappointed. i suggest watching it with a group, not by yourself.
