Ender's Game (2013)
8/10
Epilogue to novel added
3 November 2013
Follows the main plot and details of the book fairly closely. Some of the nuances of the novel didn't make it into the film but the movie does justice to the book. There is a PC dimension in the movie that was not in the book.

The novel is a favorite of mine having read it twice. The book plot focuses more on the character's sadness than the movie but the movie gets it. This is decent film but I found the novel more satisfying.

The name of the main character represents an interesting comment on the main objective of the movie's plot. Ender is in training to end a potential threat to the entire population of Earth. Is he able to pass all the tests? Is he up to the task? He is pushed to his limits at a very young age.

One of the significant questions in the movie that was not in the novel is whether our perception of the enemy correct? You decide.

The conclusion is the same except for an epilogue that adds a wrinkle to the story line that I like and allows for a sequel.

The graphics are good.

Almost good
1 November 2013
"Delete" had a good concept and the ending wasn't half bad. If you have nothing better to do, this might be a worthwhile way to spend a few hours. The movie did a respectable job of building suspense.

The camera work was meant to be creative but actually was annoying and detracted from the movie.

The acting was just good enough but some of the characters were a little hard to take. However overall the casting worked.

The plot is meant for the younger crowd and will seem juvenile to older viewers but get past that and there is a fairly exciting story to be had.

Clearly this is a made for TV movie and would never have survived wide release. It simply is not good enough but it had its moments and is thought provoking.

I feel ambiguous about "Delete" but am not sorry I watched it.

Dead Like Me (2003–2004)

Addictive and great fun

This show is utterly ridiculous I'm amazed someone had the courage to produce it. Am I ever grateful that someone.

The show is so cleverly written and well acted that the absurd becomes possible. I am bummed it didn't go past two seasons when it should have gone at least six or seven.

I became attached to the characters and their lives. In fact I was so caught up in this weird fantasy that I would actually think about them when I wasn't watching the show.

The beginning of the pilot has George becoming a grim reaper in such a ludicrous manner that you know you are in for a really bad experience or a really good one. It is a good one, funny and silly and lost of fun.

This series cannot disappoint. Watch it and you will discover you can't watch just one.

Bones (2005–2017)

Goof discovered

In season one, episode 11 Zack tell Brennan the amount of electricity required to break the victim's teeth is 480 volts, 350 amps. This is impossible. 480 volts cannot push 350 amps through a human body. If 350 volts did go through a body the body would practically vaporize or at least explode.

A generator capable of producing this much electricity would weigh around 3 tons and possibly require a tractor/trailer unit to move.

A motor utilizing this much kind of juice would weigh about 2500 pounds.

While 480 volts is capable of producing spasms capable of breaking bones the amount of current is relatively small, perhaps 3 volts.

480 volts is used only in industrial settings. It is illegal to use such a high voltage in a residence. The woman could have been tortured in an industrial settings with no generator required.

480 volts, to get technical, is only available in 3-phase setups. She might have been tortured with just two phases which would produce 277 volts and give quite a jolt. I have been shocked with 277 volts and it was frightening but did not last long enough to hurt me. Most people who have experienced this voltage will be gun shy in the future.

Although sources disagree the consensus seems to be an electric chair utilizes 2000 volts and 5-7 volts.
