Seattle Superstorm (2012)
...What was I thinking when I started watching this joke of a film :(
This was a relatively long movie and made it feel 10x longer by terrible script and extremely poor acting. Except for one mediocre actor in the movie, the acting was so awful that it 'felt like' the mediocre character ended up sacrificing his life as he was unable to tolerate the tiresome dribble from every other character near the end of the movie.
The only good thing I liked about the movie was at least they tried giving a happy-ending and not abrupt like many of the movies made nowadays.
Acting by Amitabh Bachan and Rakhi was amazing...it was a little awkward to see them in son and mother's role considering they both played romantic roles in most previous films but I guess, realistically speaking, Indian backward mentality of any woman 30+ starts playing mama's role for same actors they starred opposite. Same thing is happening with today's starts like Sharukh and Salman who are close to 50 and yet playing opposite to girls who could be their daughters but same role is never reversed with an actress in her 40s starring opposite to actors in their 20s.
Coming back to this movie...I was surprised seeing so many positive feedbacks even though story highlighted a big flaw (IMHO) where who is sane mind would put their job/ duty over their family? Is love and loyalty for one's job more important than taking care of their family? In reality, I don't think...it, for me, this point is debatable and sadly the writer (Khan and Akthar) appear to be enforcing their point of view till the very end without even realizing that two people (son and mother) both died because of father's duty in the movie. The mother died saving father and son was killed by father in the name of duty and there was no sense of regret or realization from the character of Dilip Kumar of his decisions were questionable in the movie.
I will give it 3 out 10 only because of superb acting by Big B and Rakhi. Otherwise this film, in my view, has a terrible ending and a poor message.
Kasam Paida Karne Wale Ki (1984)
Trashy movie thanks to poor acting by Salma Agha and story line
Starring Mithun was the only appealing part of the movie. The film started well took about 30 minutes to set strong foundation for a typical masala film. Amrish Puri did a superb job as a villain, who in my opinion was the best villain Indian films have ever had. Then there is Samita Patil who's talent is uncomparable. The film however had one big disappointment which is to have actress Salma Agha who played her role very poorly. Not sure what talent director saw in her to sign her up for this movie. I assume her role was only for superficial reasons and not acting talent, which from watching this film I realized is zero.
The film doesn't really have anything new to offer story line was weak and Mithun himself stood out in the movie but weak story turned the movie into a big disappointment.
Pyaar Impossible! (2010)
Great talented movie not your typical Bollywood "masala" film
This film is one of the few in recent years which is beginning to demonstrate Indian films are evolving beyond stereotype boy-girl romantic film.
I was totally amazed by the story-line, acting by Priyanka, Udhay and especially the little girl who was just mind-blowing in the film.
I was little puzzled by Priyanka's skimpy outfit in the movie, which I think considering how beautiful she looks didn't necessarily need to wear such short clothes :o) But this doesn't take away fact the film was awesomely executed and was so natural.
The unique idea Geeky Udhay had in his role of a multi-operating system was amazing. I have, in general, found Udhay Chopra a poor actor but this film changed my opinion about him by 360-degres. If I am correct he wrote this film then he did an amazing job as a writer.
A truly entertaining film.
Awesome action film
I am surprised why so many people voted so poorly for this film as I personally felt this was a great action adventure film starring Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon. Naseeruddin Shah, as always, had a commanding role throughout the film. Overall a fantastic film and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes Akshay Kumar films as well as a pretty good filmy kick-ass storyline.
Film is about 3 brothers and how one brother being murdered by a group of underworld gangsters results in the remaining 2 brothers taking revenge. The background music is very good and atmospheric. I can think of Sunil Shetty being another actor who would have played an excellent role in such a film. Highly recommended film. A++
