True Detective (2014)
It feels like the legacy of the first season was hanging over this whole affair
There will be some spoilers here, but the first episode of True Detective was kind of disappointing with some forced dialogue and some seriously bad acting in some parts. It feels like the legacy of the first season was hanging over this whole affair even tho i wasn't
trying to compare the two at all after all they are pretty different beasts at this point. Ironically i think the best part was Rachel Mcadam's character was the only one who felt real and alive. I only say ironically cause i saw some people speculate that she couldn't pull something like this off for some reason.
maybe because the first season incorporated elements of Southern Gothic and super naturalism it felt different than any other detective/noir show but obviously you can only go so far with that theme with different characters in different setting.
The director would be wise to make this feel less like true detective 2.0 and make it it's own thing even when all the major players came together at the end it felt cheesy since they don't all know each other.
The use of haunting dark music is probably the best thing about this episode.
to sum things up i really hope this show comes together and everything starts to gel because this show has so much potential.
