First Daughter (2004)
Honestly, this film can be either good or bad, depending on the mood your in.
The plot is pretty thin at points, and very predictive. Right from the word go, you know that Katie Holmes character Sam is going to fall for Marc Blucas' character James. Though there are few twists as to why they can't be together, it's still very easy to guess that there is bound to be something in their way, on the path of 'true love'.
Both actors put in good effort. Katie is a very believable young, naive and innocent college student. However Sam is a little too much, butter wouldn't melt, and you soon get bored watching her. Whilst Marc plays the very mature and trustworthy James, who any girl with any sense, falls for straight away.
Verdict : Don't save for a rainy day, wait until one night you can't get to sleep!
The Amityville Horror (2005)
One of the best horror films this year!
I went to see this film tonight with a friend. Personally I'm not too into the horror movie thing, I'm more of a chick flick/comedy kinda girl, but I thought what the hell I'll give this ago.
I was sat on the edge of my seat throughout, screaming at the top of my lungs at all the right moments. The special effects were AMAZING, and not too over the top. However the last half an hour of the flick, you could sit and have a good guess at what was to come, but there are a few unsuspecting twists and turns in the plot.
All in all, a great horror flick, probably one of the best you'll see this year!
