La marche de l'empereur (2005)
this is film at its very best. One will experience every emotion watching this film. A true classic.Anyone who has a heart will want to own a penguin. I hope some of the profits from the film will go to an organization to ensure the survival of the penguins.I never imagined animals could be that courageous, loving parents. From the first march to the final dive home i was mesmerized by this film.I will be watching the Oscar nominations for this film, its sure to win best documentary.I rented this film AND WHEN IT WAS OVER I HIT THE REWIND BUTTON AND WATCHed it again. For gosh sakes see this film, it will touch you in a way no other film ever will.
This is one of the greatest films ever made. Do not read this review if you haven't seen the film
This is one of my favorite films. The only flaw was the unbelievable ending when we find out there is no prize money for the winners. I feel they should have stayed with the way it ended in the book. In the book the health department closed the marathon after the second derby, mainly because Ruby went into labor. They then split the 1500 dollars among the remaining contestants so each one received 50 dollars a piece, and yes Gloria still committed suicide, that is why I gave the film a 9 out of 10.I read where Charlie Chaplin wanted to make this film starring Claudett Goodard as Gloria but the codes back then would never have allowed it.Had he been able to, the perfect cast would have been Goodard as Gloria(Though Barbara Stanwick, Davis,or Crawford would have been good), Leslie Howard as Robert,Charles Laughton as Rockey and Frances Farmer as Alice. Heres something to think about: Had Gloria won the 1500 dollars, would she still have committed suicide?
Sudden Fear (1952)
This is Joan Crawfords BEST film, she should have won the Oscar, It still holds up today unlike many of her films. The Cat and Mouse chase at the end had my heart pounding.Jack Palance as Lester Blain was excellent as well. The film noir was one of Hollywoods best. Unfortionately, it was Crawfords last great movie with the exception of Whatever Happened to Baby Jane.Had Hollywood given her scripts of this quality during the 50sshe would truly have been the greatest actress of all time.I have seen this film at least 8 times and could watch it again.Duringthe classic part where Joan was listening to the tape of her husbands plot to kill her Joan just let her facial expressions do her talking, I don't think any other actress of that time could have made the movie a success as joan did.
