The Counterfeit Contessa (1994)
One of my favs- I LOVE D.W. Moffett!!!
I love this film! I first saw it back in 2001 or something and absolutely fell in love with it and D.W. Moffett who plays Gina's should-be suitor Dawson Everett! Dawson is the perfect guy! My gosh, D.W. Moffett what a talent and what a babe! He plays the part so convincingly and delivers the lines, which are mostly sarcastic so well! I watch whatever he does now! Tea' Leoni is also fabulous in it! She's so adorable and even though *SPOILER* she gives Dawson a hard time she really does deserve him! I love it when she bad mouths him in Italian at the dinner table in front of everyone even though they couldn't understand her! Anyway, the entire cast is great!
I wish it would come back on TV but the stations don't have the rights to it anymore and it is hard to find at the video stores. I have the movie on video because I taped it back then but I don't have the beginning and have never seen it from the start...one day!
Collateral Cruises along beautifully
I saw this movie yesterday and absolutely loved it! It was everything it was cracked up to be! It was great to see Tom Cruise play a villain, you know, a character that is different to who he usually plays. My dad said that he prefers Tom better as the hero. While I do too, I think he pulled the bad guy off very convincingly and I think that he played a character so that you still liked him in a way. I mean Tom Cruise is just a lovable guy!
Jamie Foxx was also good. When I found out he was cast in this role I thought 'I can't imaging him serious, but he was really convincing, and it was good because there were moments where he was able to use his comic abilities. *SPOILER* Like when he's eating in the taxi and the dead body falls on the roof after Vincent kills his first victim. His reaction was priceless! Tom added good comedy as well. *SPOILER* One of my favourite scenes was when Vincent was pretending to be a lawyer or something to that guy on the speaker so that Max didn't have to pay for the damage to the taxi and he's telling Max to tell the guy to shove the taxi up his fat arse!
I was surprised to see Mark Ruffallo in it, but then delighted because he is a great actor and he always plays different characters. It was good to see him play a different kind of cop to the one he played in In The Cut.I think he looed sOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO sexy in this film! I love Jada Pinkett Smith! She's sOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO beautiful in every way!
The digital camera work was wicked and I think the action sequences were executed so well! Tom training really paid off! Diector Michael Mann has made a great action-packed and suspenseful film. The screenwriter wrote it superbly and everything was just fab, the casting, music, camera work, etc. I give it 4 out of 5 stars. The reason I am not giving it 5 is for a reason I am really pissed off about and it's because *SPOILER* Mark Ruffallo's character, Ray Fanning, gets killed by Vincent! I was expecting him just to be injured or for him to be wearing a vest, but he isn't! I think he should have lived because he was the only person that believed Max wasn't the bad guy and he was such a hands-on dedicated and lovable cop. Plus, I love Mark Ruffallo! Then, I started thinking that maybe the reason behind this was to show how much injustice there is in the world and that with Vincent his job isn't personal and that he knows how to separate his emotions from the job as opposed to Max. I also think that the film shows how good people can be at their jobs in regard to Max, Vincent and Fanning.
