Arrested Development (2003)
Why Didn't Anyone Give This A Chance
This very well may be the greatest show on Earth, and yet nobody watched it, which perplexes me. Was it the fact that this was years ahead of it's time. Was it the fact that this show was exceedingly smart while the rest of the nation watches mindless reality shows or idiotic comedies. We may never know, but we do Know that it was great while it lasted for three seasons. The Plot Goes Like This: George Bluth Sr. (Jeffery Tambor) is imprisoned for shady business at his successful Orange County housing development company. His son Micheal (Jason Bateman) then fills his shoes and hopes to turn his fathers business into a more ethical place of business. Along the way he has to face other large roadblocks, mainly his extremely dysfunctional family. His scheming alcoholic mother Lucille (Jessica Walter), his cocky dim-witted older brother GOB (Will Arnett), his over-protected younger brother Buster (Tony Hale), his shop-aholic sister Lindsay (Portia de Rossi), and her husband, seemingly gay Tobias (David Cross). Also in the mix is his good-natured son George Micheal (Micheal Cera), and his strange crush on his cousin Maybe (Alia Shawkat).
Another great part of the program is it's extensive list of guest stars. Henry Winkler, Liza Minelli, Ben Stiller, Christine Taylor, Charlize Theron, Zach Braff, Martin Short, Julia-Louie Dreyfuss, Carl Weathers, Andy Richter, Heather Graham and many more.
So now you know the facts, go buy the two available seasons on DVD and the final third season later this year.
