The Dark Knight (2008)
The best Batman movie there is
To be clear: I am a Batman fan. This is definitely the best Batman movie there is and it is my best movie ever. Christian Bale's performance as Bruce Wayne/ Batman is perfect. But he has the superb Heath Ledger as an antagonist. The Joker is a terrifying character. The rest of the cast is playing really good. Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman and Aaron Eckhart did a great job. I'm not a fan of Maggie Gyllenhaal, but she did well.
Christopher Nolan has made a great superhero/action/thriller. The movie is dark and realistic as possible. Straight off the beginning you get sucked in the story and it remains to the end of the movie. Bruce Wayne continues whit his crusade against crime and he ends up face to face with the Joker. This confrontation leaves deep marks by Bruce.
It's the best part of the trilogy. Followed by Batman Begins and The Dark Knight Rises.
The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)
Leonardo DiCaprio at his best
Last weekend I've seen this excellent movie. This is Leonardo DiCaprio at his best! I certainly hope that he wins an Oscar for this role. The movie reminded me of Goodfelles (also a Martin Scorsese movie). The structure and way of storytelling are similar. There are a lot of memorable scene's, that you won't forget.
The pace of the movie is quick, but not annoying. You get sucked in the life of Jordan Belfort and you won't get out of it. Even when the movie is over. There are so many crazy situations that you can't believe it is based on a true story.
Not only Leonardo DiCaprio is at his best, also Jonah Hill and the rest of the friends of Jordan Belfort are at the top of their game. I didn't saw all the movie's of Martin Scorsese, but this is definitely my favorite one.
The Godfather (1972)
What an excellent movie, it's the best Mafia movie there is! Closely followed by Part 2. Even though it's from 1972. You can really feel the tension when the movie goes along. It's a long one, but it's never boring. Before you know you see the end credits. The story is nice built up. Good story of the life of a Mafia family. Very good acting by Al Pacino and Marlon Brando, but the rest of the cast is also performing well. There are really strong/memorable scene's. If you have a little knowledge of the history of the Mafia, you recognize some events.
If you like Mafia (movie's) then this is the one to see!
