The Glass House (2001)
Had potential but fell flat
I started off watching this movie with generally high hopes of it being a decent film. Very quickly though it became apparent it wasn't. It was just so clichéd and boring. Also a lot of stuff happening in the film didn't make sense. For starters when Ruby goes and sees the lawyer and tells him about all the problems she is having at the Glass home, he goes on about how if she doesn't stay with them she and her brother become wards of the state. This does not make sense since Ruby and her brother have an uncle who would be more than happy to take them in they set this up right at the start of the movie. the lawyer does send a social worker to check out the house though, but at the end of the movie you find out he had warned Mr Glass about her coming. Last time I checked isn't breaking attorney client privilege illegal? or at least will get you disbarred? Also in the movie you find out Mr Glass killed the parents of the children, so he could get guardianship of the kids and have access to their 4 million dollar trust fund. This really doesn't make sense when you consider that the parents moved away the Glass's 10 years ago, so we are meant to believe that in 10 years time the Bakers (the parents) never updated their will? Mr Glass plan all rested on him and his wife still being the legal guardians of the kids when their parents died. In the end it was just a boring movie with lots of plot holes and a lot of moments that didn't make sense.
When I started off watching this movie I was enjoying it a lot, sure it looked like it was going to be the same cliché stuff we have come to expect from Statham aka him kicking serious amounts of ass and showing why you should not f*ck with his character. Once we hit about the 30 to 40 minute mark though something terrible happens, Jennifer Lopez. There is no reason what so ever for her to be in this movie and she just throws the whole vibe this movie had right out the window and what started as a ass kicking action movie is now a movie about a down on her luck real estate agent who just needs a break in life so she can escape the rut she is in. Also they try and make her a romantic interest for Stathams character, except well they just spent the first 45 minutes setting up his love interest aka his girlfriend and now they seemed to suddenly have forgotten her, even though they gave her decent amount of screen time and flashbacks to show that Stathams character loves her. This movie brought in a pointless character late into the movie for no reason and proceeded to destroy the vibe this movie had set. There are other plot holes in the movie like Statham hiding guns in the bad guys house and then leaving them there for at least over a day in what? the hope they don't need to at any point look under the tables they sit at? The action they did show was good though and was the only redeeming quality of the movie. This is pretty much a movie you should watch if it's on T.V at some point and isn't worth the rental.
New Jack City (1991)
Made no sense
This movie made no sense it was all over the place. I know it's an older movie which is why I'm giving it some leeway here but all in all it still made cops look like idiots and dumb crooks look like geniuses. There were many times they could have arrested Nino or at least had his drug empire crumble around him. Entertaining but made no sense. There were some good performances by Chris Rock as a junkie and then redeeming himself as an informant, this movie would have been a lot better had they kept Pookie alive and had this movie a bit more of of a road to redemption for him. In the end though while this movie has some entertaining values in the end it just failed to meet expectations.
The Client (1994)
Plot holes from the start
first off I want to say even for all the plot holes in this movie it is still an OK movie to watch. But I just could not find it as enjoyable as I could when the kid you have to root for is a snot nosed little brat you want to smack the crap out of yourself. Saying that though even for when this movie was made the outstanding mistakes made by the legal part of this movie is beyond me. First off you have a cop intimidating a child witness which makes no sense, second when Mark was first brought in to talk to the lawyers they never would have anyway interviewed him without his mother because any defense lawyer would then tear apart the kids statement as soon as he took the stand and have all evidence thrown out of court, thirdly this is all based on what the lawyer might have told the kid which considering there is no proof they could ever possibly know what was actually talked about in the car all, all mark had to say was the guy just talked about wanting to die and the FBI could never prove otherwise and everything would once again be thrown out, fourth and finally even if Mark admitted that the lawyer told him something the FBI couldn't do anything with it because it is hearsay and also it broke client confidentiality as soon as the lawyer told Mark so it in no way could have been used as evidence and any evidence gotten from it would become invalid and not usable in a court of law. Also at one point in the movie the FBI hears on a wire tap the guy they want pretty much admitting to the crime and to wanting to whack the kid which is more than enough evidence they need to arrest him. OK movie but just full of to many plot holes to make any real sense.
Silver Linings Playbook (2012)
See this movie!!!
Not many movies can move me in the way silver linings did. If you have any thought about if you should watch this movie or not let me clear that up for you right now..... WATCH THIS MOVIE! This can be a date movie, a movie you watch alone, or even one you watch with your family (though there is swearing so maybe not with kids), this isn't some sappy chick flick either guys will like this movie.... even if it's only for how stunning Jennifer Lawrence looks in it. Jennifer totally deserved winning the award for best actress for her role in this movie, she was amazing and pulled her character off perfectly. This is a movie people have to watch otherwise you are missing out on a great movie experience.
The Following (2013)
Started off good, but now.....
I'll start off by saying this, the first episode of this show was amazing truly truly amazing I was instantly hooked. But as the episodes proceeded it became more and more obvious that the first episode would be the only slightly redeeming quality about this show. By episode 5 the plot and acting has become increasingly bad. It is more teen drama now than serial killer thriller, an example being why on earth is there a love triangle between Paul, Emma and Jacob in a show about a cult of serial killers. It makes no sense to the overall plot so why have it why waste time with it? To prove how stupid this show is, in the latest episode they are expecting everyone to believe a defense lawyer is doing everything Carol tells her and not turning it all straight over to the FBI or to also believe that the FBI wouldn't possibly be secretly listening in especially since the main character isn't actually a FBI agent anymore. Sure people will say Carol is making this defense lawyer do everything he says because he had one of his followers attack her but the thing is she is smart there is no way in hell she wouldn't realize her best bet is to help the FBI because they can protect her and catch these killers with the information she would provide. The only way this show makes sense is if turns out all the characters have brain damage which would explain all the stupid things they do.
Just falls short of being a good movie
Fallen is your kind of standard supernatural thriller. You could see the ending coming from a mile away though but I was looking forward to it. I don't know about others but when the hero sacrifices himself to save others it always lets me leave a movie happy and sad at the same time. This didn't happen at the end of this movie though. You get to the end ready to see the hero make the noble sacrifice, but instead the demon survives by entering the body of a cat. All the lead up and hints to that moment throughout the entire movie are wasted and put to shame with this stupid ending. Sure some people may like when the hero falls short, but not many do this was a movie full of potential but is utterly ruined with a horrible ending. It is a 2 hour waste of time because of the ending, had Hobbs actually stopped the demon this movie would be one I would recommend people to watch. But once again a movie is ruined because someone along the line decided hey lets have a massive twist right at the end so it totally destroys everything we have been building up too in the last 2 hours of the film and makes it all pointless, yeah people will love that. If you are a fan of stupid endings then this is a movie for you if you prefer endings that don't spit on the last 2 hours of the movie you have been watching then give this one a miss.
The Raven (2012)
A must see movie
This is a great movie. John Cusacks performance as Edgar Allan Poe was phenomenal. Everything about this movie was fantastic. The visuals, the acting, everything. I went in thinking this movie would be alright but once I got to the end I was pleasantly surprised by just how much I enjoyed watching it. Unlike other movie pieces that have real world famous people being thrown into unreal circumstances, this movie truly makes you feel it could have happened and that Poes expertise would have been brought in to help the police bring this madman to justice. Some parts do seem a tad modern clichéd set in old times but it still works. Though long it is a must see movie and you don't have to be a fan of Poe to watch it, though after-wards you will feel a compulsion to look up his works and read them.
Dark Tide (2012)
Not worth the watch
After watching this movie all I can say is visually it had some stunning moments, maybe it's because I'm a shark person but I quite enjoyed the visuals. Besides that everything else was totally stupid. There doesn't seem to be any kind of plot, you start of thinking one thing but then by the next seen you're completely thinking another. It is a very confusing movie. Halle Berry starts the movie as the level headed shark expert but by the end she has completely lost it and is now the moron who costs two people their lives. The deaths in this were completely avoidable and had it been real life Halle would be in prison for manslaughter and reckless endangerment. This movie makes no sense and can't even be classed as B grade. Give this movie a miss. Not even the stunning visuals make this movie worth watching at all.
