Marvin Marvin (2012)
They Cancel there Number 1 Show 'Victorious' but renewed this????
Unlike Metracritic I can't give this title a zero. Literally nothing good to say about this. I went and got my 3 year old niece and 6 year old cousin. Not one chuckle all they said was "Go to iCarly (also they said Victorious, Austin & Ally, Shake It Up)" they tried to get away. I felt like I was torturing them by saying just watch one full episode. Not one good actor. Lukas Crankidiot should've stayed online as Fred. I only really saw him act almost good in the iCarly episode iMeet Fred. Never saw that person ever again. First off nothing original Not one good actor Not one good story, character, or effect My God Nick's best show in my opinion Victorious was canceled because they reached 60 episodes. What Big Time Rush was at like 59 episode yet they were renewed for 13 episodes. How to Rock canceled after one season. iCarly ended respectfully. Big Time Rush got extremely terrible and boring. Spongebob can't hold you up and neither can Marvin, Marvin. You literally have nothing good on there at all. Skip the channel. Sam & Cat hope its good.
The Hunger Games (2012)
Im gonna take 4 reviews and put them together to make my point. And there's about 470 bad reviews.
First by me, the book cover would've made a better movie. I would rather go spend 15 dollars to sit in a theater and look at the book cover for 2hrs. The movie left a lot to be desired and did not do the book justice. Character development in the movie was weak and if a viewer has not read the book, the characters and their relationships with each other is shallow and confusing. This confusion is clear when reading reviews by people who admit to not reading the books. In particular the relationship between Catniss and her family needs to be expanded upon and built upon so we can understand the relationship between Rue and Catniss and the tragedy of the circumstances they are put into. The relationship between Peeta and Catniss is also confusing and shallow, sanitizing the internal conflict felt by them. And finally we get to Haymitch, who is a shadow of the character he was in the book. Having read the books numerous times, the movie is lacking is so many ways. Scenes were redacted which I understand you have to keep the film lengthen under consideration but do not add scenes that have no mention or relevance into the movie. Also, the time lines are important in this film. You are building up to something. When you leave so much out how do you have that reference for later films. You do not get to connect with Katniss and Peeta in the film like you do in the books. I blame the SIGNIFICANT shortening of the cave scenes. The whole last 30 minutes of the film was horrible. Adding the extra fighting in the last scene did not add any value but took away from the film. Had the last Cornucopia scene been left as originally written, it would have made for a much more dramatic conclusion and wrap of the film. This movie was absolutely horrible. No story, plot, character depth or development. Most of the actors looked as though they already knew the movie was bad and just phoned in their performances. Gary Ross should never be allowed to direct anything ever again. The camera work was so horrible I suffered dizziness and nausea through the entire film. Barely anything was explained in the movie, so if you never read the book, you were kept completely in the dark about what was supposed to be going on. Gary Ross only knows how to do 2 shots. Extreme unfocused closeup, and extreme focused closeup. All of the backdrops and costumes were completely wasted since you could never see a whole person. You were only allowed to see someone's eye here, or mouth there. The most baffling thing about this movie are all of the good reviews I see from the critics. But that just goes to show you that they are never right when it comes to judging a movie. This was the second movie I have ever walked out on (the first being Battlefield Earth) and demanded my money back. As long as teenage girls dominate the box office, we will be forced to see shallow, superficial, emotionless drivel. The movie was very superficial. Glossed over the backstory and pretty much all of the relationships in a rush to get to the games. Then much of the tension of the games was missing, too. Not sure I would have been able to follow if I hadn't read the book. Add the "Blair Witch" camera work, and the whole experience was disappointing.
You make the masterpiece Titanic, then make the overrated Avatar
I gave it a 3 for the special effects and some what good 3D, you know what make that 2. I have never in my life been so disaponted with a movie and I saw Hunger Games, The Human Centepede, Saw, Hostel, and Symon Says. When I started the film I thought I was gonna be amazed with this so-called masterpiece. Some one here go to MarkMusic.Webs.Com then go to MarkMusicOfficial profile then tell me what the hell is so magnificent about this film. Nothing here was anywhere close to original. DaltonO Jun 14, 20103 Eh, yeah its all 3D, yeah its got allot of special effects and costs allot, yeah its got blue alien boobs, but other than that there is nothing here. Terrible cliché, hole-filled plot leaves you bored. Its kind of amazing how you can have such a crappy plot and waste 4 hours on it. After you watch it you think its good at first, but that is just an effect from the CGI and 3D. Soon you will realize how lame it is. "the Eywa sees you!" ugg soooo cheesy. I legitimately have no idea how this film has been getting so many positive reviews. Someone once said great films were a combination of technical innovation and artistic achievement. While Avatar certainly nails the technical side, it's artistic half leaves a lot to be desired. A by-the-numbers cookie-cutter plot with poor writing and awful dialogue. While a beautiful movie to look at, the intense CGI cannot hide the hopelessly derivative story and generally poor acting. While the world of Pandora is nice to look at, it is poorly thought out. All the characters are caricatures of the worst movie stereotypes. We have the badass soldier chick, the angry army commander, the hero who just wants to do the right thing, and the industry crazed maniac. It took James Cameron 2h 40m to tell a story that Disney managed to tell in half the time. A typical piece of American shoot up em senseless piece of trash. Cameron has stolen ideas from a range of films and merged them into a silly unbelievably juvenile plot. Lots of violence and a story with nothing to say. Writing and dialogue are amateurish with characters that seem to be taken from comic books. The only thing that makes this film remotely watchable are the special effects. Movie making at it's worst. Shame on the critics who didn't have the courage to pan this gross waste of money. Cameron was reminiscent of Michael Bay's dedication to special effects in this incredibly clichéd and (with regards to plot and characters) lackluster film. The characters all filled positions of clichés, leaving nothing unexpected through the entire plot. I found myself predicting lines and events before they occurred, a feat which never leads to a good feeling about a movie. The special effects were phenomenal, but everything else seemed less important. This movie was straight up god awful. The story was consistently boring throughout the movie and it had a totally unoriginal plot line. The characters got on my nerves to no end (especially Sigourney Weaver's character) and we're supposed to believe that this far in the future, they are still using crappy wheelchairs that look the same from the ones in the 70's? Being a person who is not at all impressed by just special effects, I was extremely disappointed in this film and James Cameron. I literally took about 10 bad reviews and put them together thats how much I have to make up for, but maximum of 1000 words so let me go edit it down. Nevermind Im good, but how does someone go from the masterpiece Titanic to Avatar. Even his film Sanctum was better then this crap.
As far as I know, this is the only good and realistic teen-drama on TV.
I will admit it has its faults but other then that almost every character can actually act (for unknowns), the story lines for the most part are always interesting, and they never sugar code anything. If a character is gonna get rapped, they will get rapped. If someone gets pregnant, they will get pregnant. Every action has a reaction in the show and thats refreshing. All I wanna know is how come Canada can make a good-realistic-real teen drama but America can't thats embarrassing for us. We have the terrible 90210, Gossip Girls, Skins, Glee, but nothing even close or as real as Degrassi. I escpecially like (what some people don't) the transformation in season 10 and on... The whole 20 something episodes in the summer are nice and quick (Panning out to like 5-7 weeks). The fall blocks of 8 episodes (Over two month period. Besides the Nowhere to Run special). And the Spring block of 10-18 episodes. It's like Degrassi the only show that can air year-round. All I can say this show is almost perfect with the exceptions of some boring and bad characters/story lines like Alli in "Degrassi: Showdown" or Eli in "Degrassi: Now or Never", or Clair in "Degrassi: The Boiling Point", or Jenna in "Degrassi: Fall Block 10" or, Eli/Clair in "Degrassi: In Too Deep", or Clair/Jake in "Degrassi: Nowhere to Run", or Fiona in "Degrassi: New Beginnings", or Becky in "Degrassi: Returns 12", or Jenna/Connor in "Degrassi: Anything Could Happen". But you should watch season 6 and on. Season 1-5 just seems badly acted some good story lines but for the most part plan and boring.
Spring Breakers (2012)
Refreshing and Surprising
I don't't know what it is but this was an excellent film, I mean the acting was great, the filming was great, the score was great. I don't know anything bad to say. I was entertained the entire time and not tired for one second. I was grateful enough to watch the film back at a film festival in 2012 and was really surprised at how good it was (for and independent B-rated film). I really am looking forward to walking into the theaters on March 22 to watch it again with my friends. Finally we have film that shows of the mature acting of Vanessa and Selena, mainly Selena. Selena has been receiving a lot of hate for being in the movie. Which she wasn't fully even in her character Faith left before getting down and dirty. I saw nothing wrong with any of the actresses. There characters are in college, going some where for Spring Break, which there characters never got to do. Of course there gonna go crazy. But thats just the first half, the second half gets more violent and sexual, which worked. Ashely and Vanessa had great chemistry together. They were professional the entire time. Rachel as far as Im concerned shes related to the director I think his wife. Plus her character after the actual Spring Break portion shes kinda forgettable. But I do say watch the movie if your looking for something good. I mean it entertained me and my friends way, way, way more then Avatar (The so-called number 1 movie of all time). Must see.
