Funny as hell, like mortal kombat turned up to eleven
As all of the reviews here have gone into detail with regards to the film's content i'd just like to sum it up overall. Our protagonist Rickaaaaay! (if your expecting Sid Owen of Eastenders fame you will be very disappointed) is being transported to prison. He then goes on a crazy blood soacked rampage of gargantuan proportions. I can honestly say that I've never seen so much ragu being spilled in all of my life. Some of the effects are well utilised where as some of them make you think "why bother?" surely cunning editing cuts and camera tricks may have served this picture better. The film is ambitious and to an extent pulls off it's macabre manga style well. In parts though the effects don't quite live up to the imagination of the film-makers. On a comedic level this film is hilarious even if you end up watching this one alone you'll still be cackling away. The "acting" and logic can sometimes leave you feeling confused and short changed, but don't worry the various over the top fight scenes more than make up for this. Im sure at the end you'll be asking yourself questions like "why didn't he just break out earlier" and "How did they restrain him and get him to go to the prison in the first place without him just killing them all?" just like me. If you are able to suspend your disbelief for 90 mins and enjoy a film that is basically just a string of Mortal Kombat style fatalities and executions then this is for you. It's pure entertainment at its most comically visceral.
