a list of 26 titles
This list is dedicated to great animated films that should be on Criterion Collection and furthermore have not received any subsequent release on DVD/BluRay and in some cases even VHS!

Criterion has released animated films before, Akira and World's Greatest Animation collection (released through The Voyager Company and Janus Films, its parent company and sister company respectively) on laserdisc back in those days and is scheduled to release Fantastic Mr.Fox in February 18, 2014.

These are some titles that are currently on DVD (in print) and Netflix does not have available. This list will grow, since there are many.

I will not include the usual Disney, Pixar, Studio Ghibli, and DreamWorks. Since those receive more exposure I will instead focus on recent lesser known animated films.
a list of 26 titles
I will leave out the Tex Avery/Chuck Jones Looney Tunes (Yosemite Sam, etc.), An American Tail: Fivel Goes West, Rango, Home on the Range, Spirit: Stallion of the Cimerron, since they are more well known. Instead I will post more obscure ones. Be welcome for suggestions. (Note: Ken Mundie's opening for The Wild Wild West doesn't count).

No Disney, no Shrek, no Dragon Ball Z and its like, and no hentai/pornography. This is a list of mostly recent (2000-present) feature length animated films for adults that are artistically unique and for the most part show territories not usually presented in animation and thus elevate the medium.

There is a developing trend of zombie themed films and television shows that attempt to go against the typical tropes of the sub-genre, since we are bombarded with zombies like never before. However, the premise of these films/tv shows is the dead coming to life, not cannibalizing the alive but settling in and making things very strange and awkward. It's important to note that the first films to do this were Yomigaeri (Resurrection) and Les revenants (They Came Back).

I noticed 28 Days Later... and onwards has brought a proliferation on the trend of end-of-the-world scenario films that has gained more prominence lately. Here are some recent ones.
