La belle et la bête (2014)
A fantastic movie, it can bring you inside the screen
It was amazingly made, and in every second, I felt myself devouring the movie with my eyes. Not even in one moment, I wanted to take a break and do something else. If you are feeling the need to distract yourself with something beautiful, then you found what you need.
Everything since the soundtrack, the costumes, and landscape felt perfect. I was immersed in this magic world, for almost 2 hours, feeling all the emotions that the protagonists were showing, and for that I thank you Christophe Gans and crew. I am always searching for something like this, because it gives me what most people consider silly, something like - "Fairy tale hope".
I loved this version that quite differ from what you can remember from the Disney's version. I liked that one, but this one is my favorite from now on.
There is only one thing that I missed, and I really wished I had seen more : More scenes between the beauty and the beast, during their daily construction of their love for each other, before the ending.
Oh, something else, I wish the movie had no ending. My eyes get tired of seeing disgrace everywhere, everyday. This is a divine delight for the eyes.
The Purple Rose of Cairo (1985)
Delightful story, but heartbreaking ending (for some people)
I just watched this movie, and I had a wonderful warm cozy time... until the ending. The great depression, the deadbeat husband, naive dreamy wife, were all well played and written. So, because of that you really can enter that fantasy world with Cecilia, knowing that she does not have nothing worth for coming back home after a movie night.
I get the sad ending in the artistic way, and is pretty real and touching, but made my heart chilled after smiling so much through the same story minutes before the ending. But in the other hand, I wish so bad she went inside the screen with Tom. I wish I could have told her - HEY, this is what you always wanted, do not be afraid if it seems " too perfect", just embrace it!I know that, but the way they explained, once they turn off the movie projector, they disappear. It is kind of sad, but why not jump to be happy for while (I believe most of us while reading or watching, wish we could choose magic over reality), instead of just being miserable forever. In the 30's getting a divorce was not like these days, and that scene at the brothel, showed me how she could ended up like those women.
Unfortunately, she chose what it seemed to be touchable, reality. And I understand where she came from, though. I have seen it, in real life people scared of something that seems so good to be true, it must be troubled. There's even a saying about it,and that gets in people's way for the true happiness. If you like to watch movies for all the possible senses, even reading that has a potential sad ending to you, I recommend it.
I did not spoil myself in any shape of form before watching it, so my heart is a little bit frozen still. I suppose that sometimes, we all want to see a happy ending (I know there are plenty of movies with it)because the reality is already too grey and full of flaws.
This Property Is Condemned (1966)
A common type of life story characterized by two amazing stars
The scenario, is just as I would expect in that location during the great depression period. The younger sister is what you would expect, when being raised near a beauty attraction sister, an oblivious mother, and strangers around all the time. She is tough, "boy-like", but still dreams inside herself with a more colorful life, so she is amazed by her sister stories, which are not always true (but they do not seem to care, they need to dream, to survive that grey world). Alva is some parts a reflection of her irresponsible mother, which seems to try to run a brothel, and not a bead and breakfast like. She hangs around with pretty much anyone that can give her something, she is a party girl, until she meets Owen. His lack of care about her being attractive, affects her, and she starts to question why inside of herself, because so far all men around kiss the floor for her to step. She is smart, charismatic, and even flirting with everybody, she still has some sort of innocence, that glows in her eyes when she speaks about the world, as she sees it (where everything is poetic). Owen, by the other hand, is a straight forward guy, with no "dreams" for his life, pretty much just work, and survive. He is a caring person, but do not show that to just anyone. He cares about the young sister, because he sees that she does not have a good future ahead of her, and show little nice gestures to her. Alva deep down, does not want to just party, like her mother tries to push her, because of money. The mother sees in her daughter her long gone youth, and practically sells her daughter to any man with money. Even her boyfriend, is with her, to be near o Alva, and she pretends not to see. Alva starts to change because of Owen, she starts to show her true self, and Owen, starts to see the world a place more joyful. Owen believes in a misunderstanding, and for that, Alva's strength to fight her fate fades away. She makes a terrible mistake, most of it, to tear her mother apart once and for all, and tries to move on, to get the road that she was supposed to, since Owen came into her life. They reunite again, and they are just so happy, living this simple cozy life, until her mother shows up (to ruin everything for revenge). As soon as she opens her mouth in front of Owen, she just can't bare to hear the words of disappointment coming from her love, and she runs, under a storm, that seals her fate. Now, I honestly expected a different ending... I just love this two actors together, and it was too sad. BUT, if you get to know Alva through the movie, you can understand why she just ran. In my dreams, her mother was kicked out, and after a long discussion, Alva and Owen stayed together, and went to Chicago to start over. I am sorry for practically resuming the movie story, but I just feel very strong about this movie, and is hard to say only a few things.
