Identity Theft (2009)
This movie is great!
It's so sad that the movie "Identity Thief" with Melissa MacCarthy and Jason Bateman is hurting this films ratings. People are confusing that film with this one. When I last logged in, this film was at 8.1! I have had this film in my DVD closet for a few years now, and it is adorable, funny, and suspenseful. It's hard to believe that this was made basically by a guy with a video-cam and a lot of friends, because it is comparable to all those beloved indie movies that you love so much. I wont tell you the story, because they g over that in all the other reviews, so I'll just say that this film will entertain and charm you beyond all expectations. Watch it! And please! Will you people that are giving this film a low rating because you are mixed up PLEASE read the title more carefully??
Notes on a Scandal (2006)
Media Blitz - but no movie theaters????
Okay, I see a commercial for this film every hour on every major network, but I have to drive to Los Angeles to see it! Why ....?
Hrm, I don't see the need to say much more, but it tells me the message is too short.
So, are there any industry insiders that read these forums? Can someone please give me a specific reason why this movie is being media blitzed, yet is available to just a few people for viewing?
This doesn't seem like an efficient use of resources - seems to me that they're spending much more on publicity than they could possibly make in these few theaters.
Just wondering, because, since I love Cate Blanchett and Judi Dench so much, I'm still willing to drive into Los Angeles, and it's traffic and rude drivers to see them, anyway. :D
Oh, I know! You guys own Exxon stock right? (kidding!)
Anyway, everyone have a fantastic New Year! :)
Does anyone have ANY IDEA when this is coming out on DVD?
Seems like everything else flies onto DVD the day after it's aired, or shown in the movies (and sometimes BEFORE!)
I wish they'd stop dragging their feet. (Or perhaps HBO intends to air it again, and they don't want it out until they get their air mileage out of it?) Oh well, just wondering, I'm really anxious to own it.
I hope this series will make big stars out of Kevin McKidd and Ray Stevenson, they were both truly mesmerizing. (Especially Ray! What a handsome guy! He has temporarily replaced my husband and doggie's' picture on my cell phone wallpaper. ;D Luckily hubby's not the jealous type, lol.) And Polly Walker is always stupendous, as well as Ciaran Hinds. (This man has incredible range, going from buffoonish Msr. Ferme' in "Phantom of the Opera", to drug dealer informant in "Veronica Guerin', to nice guy Calender Girl husband, to Mighty Caesar!)James Purefoy also demonstrates range in his choices of roles as well.
By the way, I just caught Kevin McKidd's performance as the traitorous Lord Essex in Masterpiece Theater's "The Virgin Queen", and he was equally as mesmerizing, in a completely different way.
This was really an excellent series. In my opinion, it was the best thing HBO has yet to produce.
Please Release it soon on DVD, HBO!
