The Wolverine (2013)
being brief, entertaining but lackluster
First let me say that I didn't read any of the comics or watch any of the X-Men related shows. However I did see almost all the Marvel-related comic book movies, including everything X-Men. It seems this movie just falls short. I did somewhat enjoy this one but "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" was executed better. The story doesn't seem to evolve in the X-Men universe, at least not very much. I won't give anything away. I was expecting something different, although I was somewhat entertained. I look forward to the addition to the X-Men universe and hopefully better and more relatable stories in those movies.
The Last Stand (2013)
Typical action with some unique elements
I very recently seen this for the first time, on Blu-Ray. If you do see this movie, do see it on Blu-Ray or stream it in HD. This is of course is Arnold Schwarzenegger's comeback movie with him in a major role. I was anticipating this movie because I am an 'Arnold' fan and try not miss seeing his movies. It does feature most actors that people may not recognize or have seen before but don't know or remember their names (character actors or little known actors). It does feature typical action movie elements along with some stuff I haven't really seen before. The mix of new and old does simultaneously make it seem boring but also interesting. The violence is over the top but most movies in this genre have been toned down in recent years which is sometimes good or bad. I am going to see this movie again to find parts I missed but this movie is worth viewing at least once. I would say check it out, at least once.
Kyle XY (2006)
A good combination from the past
I first heard about this series when I was watching the "Invasion" marathon. I wanted to see that show and what was about and they constantly ran the ad for Kyle XY and thought...this might be good. When I think about this program it's a cross between "John Doe" and "Dark Angel"; two very good shows that weren't given much of a chance. The fact of someone knowing everything or the ability to learn everything and retain that information is ability everyone would want to have!! Airing on ABC Family and occasional repeats on its partner ABC; I believe this show is a must see (at least one or two episodes). The few differences between "John Doe" and "Dark Angel" and this program is that the main character isn't a middle aged man or beautiful young lady. It's not set in the future. The fact is that it's a teenage boy with a family in suburbia who is trying to find who he is and that focus goes more towards younger viewers compared to the other shows I mentioned. I give this show a two thumbs up and (I really hope they do this) if it comes out to DVD you should go out and buy it as soon as possible.
