This list also doesn't includes fan films with the exception of "Punisher : Dirty laundry" which is a professionally made fan film with Thomas Jane (who played the Punisher).
This list includes short movies that were professionally made by the big studios .
"Conan the Barbarian" , "Conan the Destroyer" , "Red Sonja" , "Kull the Conqueror" and "Solomon Kane" are movies based on the books by Robert E. Howard. Comic books were made about them much later. That's why they don't appear on this list.
"Le petit Nicolas" was created by famous comic book writer Rene Goscinny , but it's a children's book not a comic book. It's not a comics , so you won't find it here.
Characters like Predator , Alien , Jurassic park dinosaurs or Bugs Bunny (and many others) also appeared in comic books, but they aren't comic book characters , so that's why they don't appear here.
With all respect to manga and anime fans , but I didn't put too many movies based on Asian comic books. Why ? Simply because there is too many of them . I could spend my whole life adding them to list and still the list would be incomplete. I've tried to put as many iconic and well known anime/manga movies I could. Considering that the most iconic are here (Dragonball, Pokemon and others) I think I did well.
Almost all of them are sequels to great movies - some OK , some dreadful. There is also a 9 non-sequel movies here that I keep both for nostalgic reasons and because I think they are nice.
I didn't included any adult movies and movies that are VERY loosely connected to Batman (like a Israeli movie when two characters are arguing about Batman doll).
If I missed anything please tell me. Thanks in advance.

Iron Man 2 (2010)
Thin story saved by special effects and humor
Iron man 2" is full of ideas that are undeveloped . It's a shame , because there was potential here. The writer starts a subplot and leaves it not really going anywhere with it. The health troubles , conflict with the army , problems of loyalty , Vankow's desire of revenge The movie doesn't explore any of this subplots and they are all too quickly resolved.
There is no real plot here. There's a bunch of ideas thrown together in hope that somehow they will make a good story. The more I think about it the more I realize that "Iron man 2" had only one real purpose introduce Natasha that will be important in the "Avengers" movie. Ironically , her presence here is pretty much pointless (except looking pretty and some action near the end of movie).
The movie doesn't know what to do with it's characters. Ivan Vankow and Justin Hammer who were supposed to be main villains don't really do anything through entire movie. Vankow has two fight scenes and that's it . For the rest of movie he is constructing a weapon , while Hammer just waits. Vankow isn't one bit interesting or scary character. His motivation to attack Stark doesn't have any real importance to overall story. The writer could also do much more with Justin Hammer.
The performances are good with the exception of Scarlett Johansson and Don Cheadle. Johansson is boring , while Don Cheadle is very stiff. I missed Terence Howard . The plot is thin with some plot holes. I also couldn't buy the new element. I know this is a comic book movie , but that was just stupid.
"Iron man 2" is a disappointing sequel. The thin story is saved by the humor and brilliant special effects. The movie was obviously enjoyable enough to be a box office success. The next movie was even dumber than this one despite a more serious attempt at writing a story. "Iron man 2" at least doesn't take itself too seriously and works as popcorn movie. I give it 5/10.
Ocean's Thirteen (2007)
Return to quality
After the disappointing Oceans 12" this one is a pleasant surprise. The magic is back and it was once again fun to meet with Danny and his gang. It's not as good as the first movie of the series , but it's fun anyway.
The story is simple Danny and gang want to avenge Reuben who was hurt by evil Bank (Al Pacino in good form). Their plan is complicated and they will have to face many obstacles. Sometimes the story is illogical in few places and little predictable. It is however much better than the overloaded story in "Ocean's 12".
If you enjoyed the first movie , you should enjoy this one too. The acting is very natural and the dialogues are witty . Quite a lot funny moments (Oprah !)The directing is top notch. Movie looks and sounds good. The old cast is back with the exception of ladies (Julia Roberts and Catherine Zeta Jones).
Good entertainment in old Hollywood style. I give it 7/10.
Escape Plan (2013)
Quite fun movie with two icons of cinema
You might like them or not , but the fact is that Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger are two REAL ICONS of cinema . For years fans were hoping for a movie with both of them in it. In some way it happened in "Expendables" and "Expendables 2", but those movies were more like team effort of old school action heroes. Here we finally have a movie with just two of them.
I was worried about this movie. I was afraid that it will be very boring and serious movie . I also didn't wanted this movie to over the top and cheesy entertainment , because that was already done with "Expendables". The idea for this story didn't seem too exciting . The whole "innocent in prison" story was already made in movies like "Lock up" , "The fortress" or "The Running man " (in a way). I was also aware that Stallone's and Schwarzenegger's glory days are pretty much over.
"The Escape plan" however turned out to be a fun and really decent entertainment. It's not a great movie , but it didn't deserved to be a box office failure. The filmmakers obviously put some effort in it and it's not some cheap movie trying to make money only on Stallone's and Schwarzenegger's reputation.
The story isn't complicated , but it's got some twists in it. I LOVED the twist about the prison and I really like the twists at the end. The prison itself looks nice futuristic , with guards in masks reminding me of "THX 1138". The social commentary is very simple (Private prisons are bad) , but that's not the reason why we want to watch this kind of movie , don't we ?
Both Stallone and Schwarzenegger are convincing in their roles. The movie portrays them not only as strong men , but also smart ones. The supporting cast is solid with Jim Caviezel ("Passion of the Christ") , Vinnie Jones ("Snatch") , Vincent D'Onorfio ("Full metal jacket") and Sam Neill ("Jurassic park"). The last 25 minutes are exciting . One also has to remember that this movie is for most part a thriller with some action in it.
What I didn't liked ? There is a fight between Stallone and Schwarzenegger here that is unfortunately just lame. Very short and forgettable. Come on ! It's Schwarzenegger and Stallone ! They should make great fighting scene with them after all those years of waiting. I also don't understand what is 50 Cent doing here playing a computer genius. Seriously , people
Both Stallone and Schwarzenegger deserved a better movie ( I regret the wasted chance for "Face off") , but I'm happy that this movie turned to be fun anyway. It's not the best one for either of them , yet they don't have any reason to feel embarrassed about this one. I'm glad that they were able to make a fun movie together and bring some joy to my life. I give it 6/10.
Men of War (1994)
Nice little action fairytale
I always say that a good action movie needs to have a decent story to work. Otherwise it will be just a mindless violence that is quickly boring and forgettable. Dolph Lundgren movies not always seem to remember that. This one however despite being a little cliché is god enough to keep the viewer interested.
The story here is based on screenplay written by John Sayles ( nominated for Oscar for the screenplay for "The Lone star"). You could say that the story ere is generic , but it's really not badly written for a B-class action movie. The film's premise is effective in immediately engaging the viewer.
The characters here actually have some soul and different personalities. They aren't bland and uninteresting like in many bad action movies. Another good thing is that the dialogues between them are actually nice to listen. When you care about the characters it means that someone did his job right. All the time spent building the relationships and personalities pays off big time when it comes to the showdown. A real dramatic tension.
There are no Oscar worthy performances here , but the acting is definitely above average. Lundgren is likable and quite convincing as the troubled mercenary leader. B.D. Wong as the natives leader is really good. There are also some attractive women here Catherine Bell and Charlotte Lewis. The rest of the cast also doesn't disappoint with one exception Trevor Goddard . He is overacting so much in the role of the villain that he almost single handedly destroys the movie.
Most of the action is held off until the climax of the movie. There is some nice action before , but it's the last half-hour that really counts. It's true that sometimes the camera work isn't perfect as other viewers pointed out. Still the mayhem is just great with shootouts, explosions, knifings, and fist fights taking place all over the island. It's also interesting that while a direct to video release this movie actually looks and feels like a theatrical release. The production values are surprisingly high and in the end the scenery is quite gorgeous.
This is not Seven samurai", The magnificent seven" or even "Dogs of war". It is however a decent action movie with heart. It has message (anti-war and proecological ) , likable characters , some excitement and overall "Men of war" is a nice movie that might apply even to those who don't like action movies. It's a solid action entertainment with some substance . I give it 6/10.
Nothing But Trouble (1991)
Not one bit funny
Based on Dan Aykroyd's personal experiences. In 1978, he was pulled over for speeding in a rural town in the Northeastern United States. The police officer took him to the local Justice of the Peace in the middle of the night for a trial.
It's a sad thing when movie with such comedians as Chevy Chase ("National lampoons vacation") , Dan Aykroyd ("Blues brothers") and John Candy ("Planes , trains and automobiles") doesn't have even one funny thing in it. I like black humor , I love "The Addams family" and I consider myself to be quite open minded person. However this terrible movie pretty much killed career for anyone who appeared in it. Yes, it's that bad.
I could say that there are some good things in this movie- Demi Moore ("Ghost") is pretty and the set decoration is nice. However watching this movie is as enjoyable as hitting wall with your head . Wait Hitting the wall with your head is MORE ENJOYABLE than this I pretty much erased the movie from my memory just to keep my sanity. I don't recommend it to anyone, even to people who like weird kind of humor. There is no humor here people . Unless you think that John Candy dressed as a woman is hilarious.
Interesting thing This is Tupac Shakur's film debut. He briefly appears as one of the members of the former hip-hop group Digital Underground. In the end credits he is billed as "2 Pac Shakur".
Avoid this movie. You have been warned. I give it 1/10.
Too simple thriller
Good performances by Goldie Hawn (In a rare non-comic role) and John Heard. The movie is quite well directed and moves along nicely. The final showdown in the movie has a quite memorable and surprising scene. I didn't notice plot holes or mistakes.
It doesn't change the fact that this is too simplistic and too predictable thriller. I was able to figure out the "twists" , so no surprises here (with an exception of one scene). The scary scenes are also very cliché. What is the point of watching a thriller when you know what is going on and what is going to happen ? I wasn't bored however and at least my intelligence was respected. Almost a decent time killer. I give it 3/10.
Law Abiding Citizen (2009)
One of the worst movies ever made endless stupidity and nihilism
Hollywood often makes very bad movies that insult viewer's intelligence. Take for example "Transformers" (the whole series). I guess that sometimes people don't care for quality and just want to have some mind numbing dumb fun. There are movies fun despite being dumb and sometimes so dumb it's fun. The worst kind of movie for me is one that is incredibly dumb , yet thinks it's smart and has something important to say. "Law abiding citizen" is that type of movie. It's not surprising considering this movie was created by Kurt Wimmer responsible for the horrible "Equilibrium".
On paper the story doesn't look bad it's a classic story about man who lost his family , the justice system fails him so he decides to deliver justice on his own. It's been done before with good results "Death wish" , "Punisher" and many other movies. "LAC" pretends to be intelligent crime drama when in fact it's a retarded macho fantasy for the most primitive viewers.
I can understand when a movie asks for suspension of belief . I can't accept when movie asks to abandon common sense, logic, intelligence , wisdom to make the movie work. Wimmer also doesn't care about police procedure, law and reality. The movie doesn't make sense from the very beginning.
* Our main hero is an ex CIA assassin who lives in dangerous neighborhood. I guess that they don't pay him enough money to live in better place or at least to have better security. * Thank God in real life it's not as simple to enter somebody's house just by knocking to the door * The two thugs are acting and talking to our hero like this was supposed to be some kind of revenge ? They are acting like they know him and something more is going on , yet it was just a robbery ? I thought they were send by someone to kill him and his family for some reason. We didn't even get told why they wanted to kill Gerard and his family. * Ex CIA assassin is surprised that the justice system is flawed * The thugs are obviously guilty of murder since there was a witness who saw them invade his house and there was the presence dead bodies regardless of who did the actual killing. There was NO NEED to make a deal . The thug who raped our hero's wife left blood , sperm , hair and other traces of his sin and the police CAN'T PROVE IT WAS HIM ?! So Jamie Foxx needs to make a deal with one thug to punish the other ?! Pure idiocy. When someone dies in the commission of a felony - it's felony murder, usually the same as first degree murder for all participants (though not necessarily capital murder). So the initial and main plot device just doesn't work. * The word of killer in the court is stronger than our hero's word and the other thug's word. * Gerard waited 10 years for revenge . Talk about patience * Gerard is ex CIA assassin but his plans are simply unbelievable * The killer shoots at the police despite that they haven't seen him * The scene with "sleeping cop" is just laughable * What was the point of recording the slaughter ? What was the point of sending DVD to Nick's house ? No real point in "giving Nick a lesson" *All the city gets locked because of few killings ? *It's all Nick fault , but he gets a promotion *In prison nobody is smart enough to install camera or guard to keep an eye on him *Gerard built the tunnel leading to a prison and he simply walks out and walks in whenever he wants. *Why does Nick thinks that Gerard's investment in Panama has to do anything with the killings ? *The security of Philadelphia city government doesn't know how Gerard looks. No comment *Gerard installs bomb with delay ? Why ? Nick says they can't move it because it will explode. Yet he gets the bomb to the prison before Gerard ?! HOW ?! *When bomb explodes it doesn't burn the bed on which Gerard is sitting. The flames are surrounding him like an fallen angel Seriously , one of the worst endings EVER.
The antihero Nick gets absolute redemption which is just pathetic even for such bad movie. The whole concept of justice has been prostituted into far fetched macho fantasy. There is no intelligence at work here , only stupidity and some predictability. There is no character you could care about and no good acting either.
"Law Abiding Citizen" is far removed from anything of merit. The fact it has good rating on IMDb (7.4) scares me. Do really people have such bad taste ? I give it 1/10.
Comes a Horseman (1978)
What a bore
I strongly suggest to watch something else instead of this crap. It's a total failure considering the talents involved here director Alan Pakula ("All the presidents men") and stars like James Caan ("Godfather") and Jane Fonda ("On golden pound").
The story itself is cliché and has been done many times before in westerns or action movies. This movie actually doesn't want to be a western or action movie. It wants to be a character driven drama . Unfortunately the characters aren't all that interesting. The movie is also too long and moves too slowly. This is one badly directed movie. The acting isn't bad , but I couldn't really care about any of the characters. The main villain (Jason Robards) is also uninteresting and not scary at all. There is some action near the end , but it's hardly anything memorable.
I would rather watch "Nowhere to run" with Van Damme. It was better directed and more entertaining than this. Not amazing , but watchable enough. This ? This is just boring.
I give it 1/10.
Uklad zamkniety (2013)
Frightening real life story
*SPOILERS*SPOILERS*SPOILERS*SPOILERS*SPOILERS This movie is based on true story that happened in Poland. A powerful district attorney with his friend from Internal Revenue put innocent 3 businessmen in jail on completely false accusations. The DA and his friend from IR wanted to take over the fortune of the successful company . They fabricated evidence of bribe and accused 3 innocent men of being a part of mafia. They destroyed the life of 3 innocent men because of pure greed.
This is not a story of people who were failed by the system . This is the story of the people that were crushed by the representatives of law. This is story that REALLY happened. A story of country where the same system that was supposed to protect people destroys them in the name of law.
The first 30 minutes of movie is rather boring. Thankfully the movie after that gets interesting. The acting is solid and the portrayal of all characters in the movie is far from typical Hollywood black or white morality. The movie lacks the emotional impact of director's Ryszard Bugajski's brilliant movie "Przesłuchanie" ("Interrogation"). It is however a bitter and memorable story that tells a lot about modern Poland. I do recommend however this movie to all viewers . This is also universal story about the flaws of democracy and a warning how easy it is to become moral bankrupt.
I give "Układ zamknięty" 8/10.
Don't watch this !
Polish cinema delivered some really good comedies. This is NOT one of them. "Weekend" directed by talented Polish comedy actor Cezary Pazura is poor man's Guy Ritchie movie. The terrible script by Lesław Kazimierczak thinks it's funny or smart , while it's as a funny as cutting your leg. To be honest I would rather cut my both legs than to watch this s*** again.
The story kinda reminds of "Pulp fiction". Two main heroes are professional killers who... I have to admit I don't know what was the point of the plot. Their killing people and searching for money , but why and for whom ? God only knows.
The so called humor is authentically RETARDED. Not only you can see a punchline of each joke from miles away , but the punchline itself doesn't deserves to be called a punchline , only a punch into viewer's good taste.
Avoid ! This movie is like diarrhea. I give 1/10.
