Mirzapur (2018– )

Bhaiya ye to phaadu hai..
19 November 2018
Mirzapur is one of the best web-series of 2018. All the characters have performed their roles like pros. There is not even a single dull moment in the series. Being a UP-ite I can vouch that the events and violence depicted in this series is quite close to what happens here and the bhaiya brigade is more truer than fiction. Pankaj Tripathi is flawless and the rest of the cast fits the bill perfectly. Pls do not take the negative reviews seriously as they are ill-intentioned and biased towards Sacred Games. This may look like an Anurag Kashyap rip-off but it has its own charm and subtleties. Pls watch this series with an open mind and believe me it will blow your mind. Mirzapur rocks!! Waiting for Season 2 with unabated breath....

P.S. - 9 episodes completed in 12 hrs flat.

Castle Rock simply rocks!!!

Never really read any Stephen King novels but seen quite a few movies inspired/based on his novels. Castle Rock is by far the best psychological thrillers I have seen. The story has unfolded slowly and very articulately till now. There's this unsettling feeling that I felt throughout while watching and it hardly leaves you even after the episodes are over. The actors have given a brilliant performance with Sissy Spacek delivering an Emmy award worthy performance. Totally and completely hooked.

Pathetic and over the top!!!
22 June 2017
Warning: Spoilers
After a long time we have a Salman Khan movie that has the main character portrayed in a very boring, over the top and irritating way. It has a very thin plot and the movie lacks soul. The only saving grace are the beautiful visuals and a decent act by all the others involved. Most of the emotional scenes come across as unbearably farcical, crippled by what is possibly the worst performance of Salman's career. The problem of the movie seems to be Salman himself as he tries really hard to come off as slow-witted but the effort falls flat on its face. Although the movie has a good message to convey but it hardly gets conveyed. The songs tend to slow the movie down even further. Really disappointed!!!!

Take a bow S.S. Rajamouli !!

Warning: Spoilers
Well, Bahubali 2 is a movie par excellence. Each and every scene has been shot keeping in mind that it would be a magnum opus. The CGI is way better than employed in any other Indian movie till date. Prabhas as Amrendra Bahubali brings to life a character that would be long remembered as one of the most powerful depictions of a king ever on a celluloid screen. The scene in which he beheads the commander of Maheshmati army with his sword is worth standing up and clapping. Anushka Shetty as Devasena has also given a fine performance. Overall the movie is much bigger and better than the first instalment with amazing background score, stupendous cinematography, power-packed performances and a very solid script. This one's a classic!!!

Dhoom 3 (2013)

Doomed Thrice !!!
25 December 2013
Warning: Spoilers
This movie showcases the fact that even Aamir Khan is no god or perfectionist. A supposedly robbery movie without any robberies shown is something that even the producers would not be able to justify. The stunts are absolutely overboard and defy gravity, physics n create a sense of foolishness. The audience is taken for a ride throughout n even the great Aamir Khan is unable to lend any sorta logic in the film; though he's acted pretty well. I just hope that this is d last of the Dhoom series n dis foolish concept is laid to rest. The Prestige rip-off will haunt Aamir Khan for a long time as normally people associate him with sum originality. People are advised to stay away from this movie.

Ek Tha Tiger Aur Do Thi Disprin!!!
30 August 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Ek Tha Tiger is truly one of the worst 10 movies i have ever seen since it lacks both in story as well as characterization. What promised to be an action-packed spy movie turned out to be a prolonged melodrama!! After third class movies like Ready n Bodyguard, Salman again manages to come up with an even more irritating movie!! I really dun understand why a seasoned actor like him is coming up with such massive bloopers!!! Katrina Kaif's looks are probably the only saving grace of the movie. The plot of the movie is so damn predictable that one thinks anyone can be a script-writer/director. The action sequences are somewhat OK but the the body doubles are clearly visible. Kabir Khan failed miserably this time bowing down to Salman's on-screen antics rather that coming up with a logical subject. I promise myself to stay well clear of Salman's non-brainers in future. Salman is hardly shown doing his supposed duty as an Indian spy and only wastes his and the viewers' time wooing his Pakistani counterpart in Katrina. The first part of the movie is so slow that one can actually doze off for a good 15-20 mins without missing any part of the non-existent script. The second part starts of with the 2 spies forgetting their national duty and running away into oblivion to start a love life of their own. The ending is as foolish as the start with the last stunt being totally laughable and unbelievable. I curse myself for watching such a stupid movie. Please stay well clear of it. As for Salman, get a life man!!! Stop considering the Indian audience stupid and brainless!!!
