Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance is a movie about redemption and it is
done for the most part very well. Nicholas Cage's acting as Ghost Rider
is very good and you really get a feel for the struggle he has within
between himself and the rider.
This movie focuses on the new human vessel for the devil, a small boy named Danny who is in fact half devil himself. During the movie Johnny Blaze is trying to get rid of the rider and in the process finds absolution for his sins as well as a new reason to continue with the help of a new friends Nadya and Moreau. This movie also gets more into the origins of the rider and where it came from.
One thing that stood out to me was having a villain with a bit more purpose and character than seen in the last film. Ray, your typical criminal scum is trying to bring Roarke (the devil) the child he needs to continue taking a human form. Along the way the devil grants him an interesting power of decay and from there he becomes the central antagonist to Ghost Rider along with Roarke.
Bottom line, the thing that makes Ghost Rider great is Johnny Blaze's struggle for redemption, and using a twisted evil power in spite of itself for good. This movie shows both of these elements very well, (even better than the first movie in my opinion)and the final result is a good action movie with a solid focus and direction.
I highly recommend Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance to any Ghost Rider fan, and to those who enjoy a good comic book adaptation. 9/10
