Much better than what films of today offer you..
Set in the rustic backdrop of Haryana ,Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola is a film you wont regret watching!! Speaking of serious issues in the small villages,, this film grabs you till the end.. ! Some scenes in the film really make you laugh ...Pankaj Kapur as a wealthy alcoholic industrialists made his acting sheer brilliance in this one..there is something about theater actors which make you feel that they have actually slipped into their characters skin..Imran Khan as middle man harry who is Pankaj Kapu's pillar of support was fantastic as well...his Haryanvi accent was a delight.. Anushka Sharms does complete justice to her role as Bijlee..Shabana Azmi and Arya Babbar suited the bills to their roles completely..the soundtrack is mind blowing as well ..there isn't a single moment of dullness in MKBKM.the pink cow as Gulaabo has an essential role to play in the film..its importance will be revealed once you go watch it..it deserves a theater watch ..see this film and the Indianess of it will make you love it..Go and watch it in the name of cinema which is genuine and not mainstream,
Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012)
Yash Chopras last directorial venture will have an everlasting effect..
The best way to end your Diwali this year would be to watch the last film of the king of romance , Yash Chopra, right?? That's right.jab Tak Hai Jaan is a very ,entertaining and sensitive romantic film . It starts with major Sameer Anand (Shar Rukh Khan) defusing his 98th bomb and writing about it in a diary at an isolated location at dusk.the next day he is seen saving a girl(Anushka Sharma portraying Akira) from drowning.. He then gives her his jacket after saving her life rides away .. She discovers his diary in the jacket he gave her and begins reading which tells us about his life in his late 30's in London .his love story begins from here.just as he sweeps off the falling snow he sees a girl (Katrina Kaif portraying Meera)running in an Indian attire towards the church and overhears her confessions to lord Jesus..he meets her once again when he is singing the song Challa on the streets of London.after a few times of encountering each other they both decide to strike a deal where he would learn classy English from her and she will learn Punjabi as she wanted to recite a poem on her fathers retirement..in the process they both fall in love but as faith did not allow their love to bloom.this happened because meera and sameer had promised god that they would not go beyond friendship and if they did god could give them any punishment he wished.meera crossed the line and sameer was hit in a car accident.meera prayed god to not give the repercussions of her mistakes to sameer.she prays that if he is saved she will never meet him again.he is saved and Meera talks to him for the last time saying that it would be best if he leaves the town.before leaving sameer is in the church saying that god took away his love from him,but he would take away her trust from god.he would return to India and face death everyday by defusing bombs.just as he leaves ,he asks god."lets see how long can you keep me alive".Sameer returns back to India as major Sameer Anand in the Indian army and attempts to meet death everyday as if he cannot be with Meera might as well die as he believes that a bomb can only kill him once but life kills him everyday. He is named the man who cannot die after his achievements as each and every bomb he has defused is without any protection or special suit.after reading the story ,akira is then sent to witness the life of major Sameer for two weeks in Gulmarg,Kashmir and capture his life as a documentary..in the filming of this documentary she falls in live with Sameer but knows that her love story is not possible and returns back.her bosses are extremely impressed with the documentary but say that her documentary will only be broad casted when major Sameer himself comes to London for an interview.he hesitates at first but eventually agrees.as he arrives he is hit from a bus for the second time and is returned to the trauma of the first accident and is diagnosed with a particular amnesia in which he remembers everything before his last accident .the story continues from here..this film is a very beautiful and pretty long...but an enjoyable film although the magic of Yrf films was missing a bit here..Yash Chopra made his last directorial venture a memorable one
Student of the Year (2012)
A movie every school or college student should look out for!!!
panting, cheering, the last few seconds of the race and the excitement is what people see before crossing the threshold of the the movie...as soon as the winner is declared people shout and cheer but the attention of the audience is diverted towards a student..mainly Sodu(Kayoze Irani)who is seen shedding some tears...there is astonishment on the faces of the people including the dean (Rishi Kapoor)..the film now turns to present day where Sodu receives a call saying that the dean of their batch is critically ill and is requested to get all the student of the last batch he was in charge of which included Sodu itself...he is then seen to be speaking to the audience saying that he would make the calls but wasn't sure about the number of people who would come to meet their dean on his last few days... only about 4 students come and after greeting each other begin recalling their college days and the student of the year competition which had changed their entire lives.... the film's fun begins from here and the audience is not even for a moment looking bored or Unentertained...a typical Karan Johar film.. all the three newcomers have brilliantly portrayed and have provided complete justice to their roles... Siddharth Malhotra as Abhimanyu plays the dashing and fearless small town boy with big ambitions and hopes, who has gained admission in St.Teressa college by means of a scholarship Varn Dhawan plays a rich dads spoiled son and fits his role perfectly who is ambitious about becoming a Rockstar. Alia Bhatt as Shanays too does justice to her role as her mothers only and her step-fathers fifth daughter who wants her partner i.e Rohan to be more serious about her.
then comes in the student of the year trophy which is the dream goal to every students eye in the st.Teressa college the movie then goes through a series of twists and turns ups and downs,,maintenance of friends and enemies and most importantly winning of the student of the year trophy... this movie will charm and entertain you for the two and a half hours of your life and you will leave the theater with a smile either by remembering and cherishing your college days or being able to relate to your present college life... my advice: GO FOR IT!!!!!!!!!
The only joker here is the audience ....
When I had first seen the trailers and heard about the movie .i knew that it wouldn't be worth it and the fact that the promotions of the movie were below average showed that this movie wasn't made with any interest..after Rowdy Rathore expectations were high from the Superhit Jodi of Akshay and Sonakshi but Akshay has gone back to his comedy spree and poor Sonakshi's career has continued on a bad note....and then to add to the unfunny comedy are the villagers who fell that world war 2 is still going on and one of them believes that he is a lamp post...I don't know why that the directer thinks that today's audience is stupid and will accept anything.... In a nutshell this movie doesn't have any humor and is not worth your time and money.. DON'T go for it!!!!!
Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008)
A perfect end to the year......
Wow!!!!!!!! What a film!!!!!!!!!...it was worth my time and Friday night ,,,the only movie I felt that portrayed khans real age....the storyline is very beautiful. The trendy music,Anushka's pretty face ,occasional punches , the Dhoom scene and Vinay Pathaks Punjabi Tadka all added up together for the movies charm.although Suri's regular transformations to raj and back to Suri was questionable,,,it only added to khans diversity in roles Although Anushka didn't have her debut in the way actresses like Sonakshi Sinha and Parineeti Chopra, but she was successful in leaving her mark..the pretty music,Colourfull location and typical Punjabi Dialogue have a thumbs up from me
a really great and different job done by Yash raj films
set in the fictional town of Almore (presumably a small town in U.P)the movie starts with the two political parties fighting and swearing at each other.their children Zoya(portrayed by Parineeti Chopra) and Parma(portrayed by débutant Arjun Kapoor)were born to hate but destined to love.they were taught by their childhood to hate each other immensely.but when they meet face to face they realize that they are exactly like each other in terms of language, thinking and wonder why they were hating each other for all this while.suddenly they both develop an unusual attraction with each other and the law of opposites attract has been completely reversed here.you can see what Zoya's feeling in the song 'Pareshaan'.basically Ishaqzaade is about the repercussions of love.this passionate love story will take you back to the Laila Majnu era. Parineeti Chopra's character Zoya is a ferocious Muslim girl who would prefer bullets over brand new gold earrings and who carries a gun like a mobile phone in her pocket.Arjun Kapoor's character Parma is as ferocious as Zoya and is the only grandson of his grandfather.he falls for Zoya and woos her ,also taking undue advantage of her.what a person would really appreciate in this film would be Parineeti Chopra's playing the role of Zoya.when you leave the theater you will be all praises for this girl.Parineet Chopra's character is also quite different from Chopra's earlier role of dimple in ladies vs Ricky Bahl .dimple is a bubbly Punjabi girl and Zoya is a ferocious Muslim girl. now for the points that work for the film. there are many reasons one would praise ishaqzaade.the on screen couples chemistry is amazing.Parineeti's flawless acting is a cherry on the cake .the songs especially Pareshaan and the title track are a candy to the eye.the biggest plus point of the film is that as it is an Yash raj production production, people would be expecting romantic locations and a indulging love story.Ishaqzaade does the extreme opposite of those expectations with the roses and hearts replaced with guns . now lets have a look at the points that don't work out for the movie... after the interval the moviel oses track and the only character who stole the show was Zoya.although the 2nd half wasn't as exciting as the viewer would have expected it to be but Parineeti's flawless acting balanced the story and kept the audiences engaged and wanting for more.in the 2nd half also we only see the lead only trying to escape their families who had joined hands to get them killed. well over and out , don't expect anything and you will come out of the theater with a pleasant smile.definitely worth a watch.if you are a person who loves romantic movies, this one is not one to miss.....
