Not the book, but it doesn't have to be
4 September 2005
I am a big Mark Twain fan. I love his writing, his stories, and his humor. I used to watch this movie when I was a kid, and I recently rented it for old time's sake and fell in love with it all over again. If you're looking for a movie that's parallel to Mark Twain's novel, this isn't it. But that doesn't mean that this movie isn't fun-loving, creative, entertaining, and an overall great movie. I love this movie. I think it's great for kids as well as adults. It's an adventurous tale of freedom and friendship that leaves you smiling in the end and rewinding the movie with a slight sigh of wistfulness. I recommend this movie to a wide range - but not to someone who's using it instead of reading the book or expecting it to to BE the book. It isn't. It's something different, but still just as wonderful as it should be.

I.Q. Is Excellent

Maybe I'm being too generous with the rating...but I just love this movie! I've seen it so many times, but every time I see it I fall in love with it all over again. It's just a simple romantic comedy, with nothing huge or monumentous that happens. But I'm a big romantic and this movie *is* romantic. I love Meg Ryan and Tim Robbins, and Walter Mathau is so funny. The scientists make me laugh so much...I definitely recommend this movie to anyone who hasn't seen it. It's such a clean, good movie - and those are so rare now! My 20-year-old brother likes this movie, too, so it's not just a chick-flick. ;-) I recommend it if you need to laugh, or if you're just lonely and need to *watch* a romance, if you yourself can't participate in one. It's a good 'un!

North (1994)
A classic Elijah Wood.

I saw this movie when I was little, so maybe that's why I like it so much. Plus I love Elijah Wood in his younger days, like in Huck Finn and Forever Young. I think he's hilarious in this movie, and the movie is hilarious. I just saw it last night for the first time in years, and laughed so hard. I'm a big fan of Bruce Willis, and remembering he was in this movie was a big plus. Maybe it's one of those movies where you either love it or you hate it. It's fun and light-hearted and entertaining. I personally recommend it if you're ever bored and in need of something care-free and entertaining! I don't think you'll be disappointed, if you don't take it too seriously.

Look up "cool" in the dictionary...

... and you'll find Steve McQueen's picture! I saw The Thomas Crown Affair two days ago in amongst my Steve McQueen movie night. I thought the movie was great! I thought Steve McQueen was suave and debonaire, and I thought he played the part of Thomas Crown with real "coolness". This movie ranks way above Bullitt, and among The Great Escape and The Magnificent Seven in my book. I thought it was original and a classic 1968 movie. And Steve had to get a fast car in there somehow! It just wouldn't be a classic Steve McQueen movie if there wasn't a chase scene or a fast car/motor cycle in there somewhere! This movie had me laughing and wanting to see it again. I haven't seen The Sand Pebbles or Nevada Smith, but I'm looking forward to watching those movies ASAP!!!!
