Insightful, Entertaining & Looking Forward to Next "Episode"
Just watched the long awaited Prometheus IMAX, it's very entertaining and quite "graphic" for a few scenes. For the sake of not spoiling the story line at this stage, I shall try to provide general comments.
The original Alien (1979) is most definitely a corner stone of SCI-FI suspense thriller which showed us the vulnerability of human's curiosity and we may not be the master of Earth (let alone the universe) after all.
Alien II - IV gave those who didn't figure out what the original Alien look like a much closer look and more actions with them. They definitely contain more graphical actions and less psychological thriller.
Ridley Scott, who directed the original Alien (1979), came back to produce and direct Prometheus (2012) certainly in a big way. The gigantic set, technological details and CGI certainly brought the audience to another universe. With the IMAX technology, it added another layer of experience that a sci-fi fan can truly appreciate.
However, I still haven't figured out the first scene and the end seemed to be rushed for completion. Yet, it's still quite an unforgettable movie.
Can't wait for the next one, hopefully Sir Scott this time worked out all the legal / political stuffs with studios and can start the next movie within another decade.
The Killing (2011)
Surprisingly awesome adaptation! Thumbs up on the production
First I thought it's just like Twin Peaks wannabe - started with lots of clues and looked promising and then died out of surprises and twists after a few episodes.
But then, I got hooked on it after 45 mins of the show .... it's not lame, it's intelligent and characters have depths and real personalities. The story stayed focus all the way, while regress from time to time to talk about the main characters' stories.
It beats Dexter, Mad Men (except Season 1), Breaking Bad, ... all the hyped up TV dramas.
I've seen Norwegian, Swedish movies before like The Girl with Dragon Tattoos, Let the Right One In, Cargo, Antibodies, Frosbitten, ... while some of them are a lil Hollywood (probably for marketing needs). This one is for mature audience. Lots of twists & turns without the teenage dramas.
Very very good show. Can't wait to see the original version and season 2! Good work!
