Friday Night Lights (2006)
The Best Series of our Generation
Friday Night Lights (FNL) is a show not only about football, it is about life. Not life of a football player, but life in general.
FNL focuses on struggles that families, friends, and coaches go through.
Friday Night Lights takes a realistic and brilliant look at dealing with everyday to extreme situations. Situations such as when a young couple should have sex, drug abuse, abortion, parenting, marriage, mental and physical handicaps, a dead-beat father and even murder.
Coach Eric Taylor, played by Kyle Chandler, is a leader. It is said multiple times throughout this five-season series that he is a "molder of men," and that is evident as he molds young, Matt Saracen, a young man with a dead-beat father, throughout the series.
FNL captures true human relationships as the chemistry on the screen between the Taylors, the Riggen's brothers, and Matt Saracen sparks.
This is more than a show. It is a portrayal of our own lives, and what we all go through.
It's a shame many have written this series off as a spin-off of the 2004 movie, because this Emmy award winning series is a life-changing experience.
I am jealous of those who have not seen the show yet, because I want to be able to experience it for the first time, again.
